51 Blood Is Love

Kane's heart thudded against his ribs and there was a roaring in his ears. Love. Did Vera just use the word love? Did Casey know?

No. This was bad. This was very, very bad. It was so much worse than he thought. Love. She couldn't love him! Love was bad. Love was dangerous. Love hurt. Love was blood. 

Casey knew that. He knew love ended in blood. He wouldn't possibly be stupid enough to stick with someone who said she loved him, would he? Unless he had forgotten that too? He had to have forgotten. Otherwise he would have run far, far away the moment he heard that terrible word. 

Blood is love. Kane would never forget it…Candy ensured that. So how had Casey? 

Kane cursed. He had to get out of here. He needed to think of a plan. Something. Anything! This was going to end a lot worse than he originally anticipated if he didn't figure something out right now. 

"Kane?" Vera asked uneasily. "Are you alright?"
