Poison Me

"No."

Lu Chenjun paused for a second, thinking about what to say.

"I don't love her, but I do like her. There is a difference. That is why I want to get to know her better. I have something else to do right now, so I'm going to hang up. Take care, Grandpa Li."

Lu Chenjun hung up the phone and closed his eyes.

On the other end, Grandpa Li laughed.

He turned to his wife, who was knitting and said, "The other day Chenjun called me a hopeless romantic. I think he is the hopeless romantic here. He has been on this Earth for 27 years already, but he has only loved one woman whole-heartedly. It has been nine years already since she left. Do you think this new girl will be able to bring Chenjun out of the past?"

His wife smiled and stopped knitting.

"I don't know. This is all up to Chenjun. Will he be willing to open up to this new girl? Husband, you are not one to talk about Chenjun. You have been on this Earth for over 60 years already, but you have only loved me right? Or, have you been lying to me all this time?"

Grandpa Li immediately shook his head and sat down next to his wife.

"Of course not. I only love you and it will stay this way until the day I die."

Elena left the restaurant five minutes after Lu Chenjun did, and entered a taxi. She told the driver the address and closed her eyes.

She decided to discuss the situation with Mila, although she already had an answer in her mind. She didn't really have a choice. It was Lu Chenjun she was dealing with. She had to say yes.

The taxi stopped in front of the LIQuan Building and Elena got off. She located her own car and drove back to the apartment.

The apartment door clicked open, and Mila watched as Elena walked in.

She stood up from the couch and patted Elena's shoulder.

"It's okay. Don't be too sad. Breaking up is a good experience. At least you didn't have to break up with someone you actually love."

Elena scowled, "I didn't break up."

Mila looked down and shook her head, "You know, it's really okay. I understand you aren't feeling great right now, but you don't have to lie to yourself."

Elena pushed Mila's hand off her shoulder and said more firmly, "No, I actually didn't break up."

Mila raised one eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

"I don't know what Lu Chenjun is thinking, but he didn't break up with me. He asked me to live with him."

Mila's eyes widened as she placed one palm onto Elena's forehead, "You don't have a fever."

Elena rolled her eyes and pulled Mila over to the couch.

"What do I do now? I don't want to go live with him, and I don't want to date him anymore. But if I don't date him, I have to pay him 100 million yuan. Help me, Mila."

"How can I help you? If I were you, I would just go and live with him. It's not like he could do anything to you."

Elena thought about this for a second, "You're right. The contract didn't allow any more physical contact over a hug."

She paused for a second, "But I still don't want to live with a random guy."

Mila shrugged, "You don't really have a choice, do you? Plus, if you leave, this whole apartment room will be mine."

Elena glared at Mila and stood up, "Fine. Since you want me to leave so bad, I will."

Mila laughed as Elena angrily stomped into her room and slammed the door shut.

The next morning, Elena and Mila went to go film at a beach. They were already done with half of the scenes, as the entire film was less than 30 episodes.

Ever since the incident with Lu Chenjun, Su Yan began maintaining a low profile. Whenever she saw Elena, she would turn to the side and walk around her.

Su Yan was still mad about what happened, but she knew that she couldn't do anything about it with Lu Chenjun behind Elena. At least she couldn't do anything yet.

The filming ended in three hours, and Elena rushed home to make lunch for Lu Chenjun.

In the kitchen, Elena was scrolling on her phone as the pork bone soup was boiling. As she was watching a cute guy show off his abs, her phone rang.

'1 Message from Lu Chenjun: Hurry up. I am hungry.'

Elena frowned as she read the message.

She looked at the soup and tilted her head.

She raised one eyebrow and thought, 'Okay, I will hurry up. Just don't complain when you eat the food.'

She smiled as she reached for the jar of salt. She almost emptied half the container before placing the salt back to its original location. She then made a spicy chicken dish, but added three times the amount of spice she was supposed to add.

After she was done, she packed the food and left.

---

Lu Chenjun had quickly finished all of his work and was waiting for Elena to walk into his office.

When he heard footsteps going up the stairs, he quickly turned towards the computer and pretended to be doing work. There was one knock on the door before it was quickly pushed up.

"I'm here," Elena said frustratingly.

Lu Chenjun smiled as he cleared up a space on his table.

"Do you have an answer for me?"

Elena scoffed and placed the food containers on the table, "What do you think? The answer is yes. Happy now? However, don't even think about doing anything to me. I am abiding by the contract, so you also have to. Rule number 1 stated that we can't share any physical contact greater than a hug. Understand?"

Lu Chenjun was jumping for joy inside, but he still managed to put on an uninterested face.

"Good. Don't worry, I don't want any greater physical contact either."

Elena nodded as she opened the container, "When am I moving in?"

Lu Chenjun picked up the chopsticks, "I already asked Director Xin. You don't have any scenes to film tomorrow, as it is a Sunday. Pack up your stuff, and I will have Fang Shi go to your apartment at 5 P.M. to bring you over to my house."

Elena pushed the bowl of soup over to Lu Chenjun before sitting down.

Lu Chenjun picked up his spoon and reached for the soup, but Elena quickly stopped him. He had to eat the chicken first, or else her plan wouldn't work.

"Chenjun, you should eat the spicy chicken first. It is good to eat meat before drinking soup."

She didn't actually know if eating meat before the soup was good, but Lu Chenjun wouldn't know any better than she did.

He dropped his spoon and took a bite of the chicken. Within ten seconds, Lu Chenjun began coughing and he immediately spat the chicken out.

"How much chili pepper did you put into this?"

Elena suppressed her laughter, and quickly picked up his spoon, "Drink some soup. It will help."

Lu Chenjun didn't even reach for the spoon and instead drank directly from the container. Elena watched as Lu Chenjun twisted his face in disgust, and also spat out the overly salty soup.

Lu Chenjun glowered at Elena angrily, "Are you trying to poison me?"
