Break Up With Elena

The next morning, Elena woke up at 6:30 to go film at 8.

After arriving, Elena mustered up all her courage and walked up to the director to ask him if they could film her scenes first.

She was really sacrificing a lot for her first love.

Luckily, the director was nice and agreed to her request.

While they were filming, Elena had Mila go out and buy the ingredients she needed from the market. Mila came back right on time, and Elena kicked her off the driver's seat as Mila drove way too slowly.

When they returned home, Mila immediately turned on the TV and began watching a blind dating show.

"Mila, when I was living in the Jinlu Complex, did you just watch TV all day?"

Mila shook her head, keeping her eyes on the screen, "No. I also slept and ate."

Elena rolled her eyes as she chopped the garlic into small pieces. She was going to make sweet and sour pork ribs. Elena had learned this dish from her mom by watching her cook.

Although she was the one who helped her mom wash the vegetables, set up the plates, and keep an eye on the fire, her sister was always the one that got the leg of the chicken and the fatty part of the meat.

Elena almost overcooked the pork on the stove as she was lost in her thoughts. She quickly turned the fire off and packed the food into a container.

After sprinkling some sesame seeds onto the dish, she closed the lid and entered her room to change clothes.

When she walked out in a beautiful light blue dress, she saw that it was starting to rain.

"Did the weather forecast say it was going to rain?"

Mila lifted her eyes slightly from the TV and said, "Yes, it's going to rain a lot in the next week."

Elena grabbed her umbrella before leaving, holding the container with food close to her chest to prevent it from getting wet.

Although it was raining, the temperature outside was still very high. Elena took off her coat and covered the food container with it as she entered the underground parking lot.

The car was stuffy and hot inside, but Elena couldn't open the window in fear of rain coming in.

Before long, she had arrived in the parking lot of the LIQuan Building. She parked close to the door and quickly walked in with the warm food container in one hand.

Her feet were slightly wet as she entered the front lobby, which was empty except for the lady working behind the table.

The worker there was different, and she didn't bother to ask what Elena was doing as she scrolled through her phone.

Elena walked straight to the elevator and placed her finger onto the monitor. The elevator door opened and she walked in, pressing the 52nd floor.

The elevator was still very fast, and it arrived on the top floor before long.

Elena quickly checked her image in the reflective elevator wall and stepped out after she was satisfied.

She spotted Fang Shi's head behind the computer screen, but she didn't bother saying hi. Her loud footsteps reached Fang Shi's ears, who lifted his head up and widened his eyes at the sight of Elena.

"Miss Jin Yinghui, what are you doing here?"

Elena stopped on the first step of the staircase and turned towards Fang Shi.

"Nothing, don't tell your boss anything."

Fang Shi opened his mouth to speak, "But Grand-"

Elena lifted one finger up warningly and her smile disappeared, "Don't ruin my surprise."

Fang Shi nodded timidly before sitting back down, his head peeking out from behind the computer as he watched Elena climb up the stairs quietly.

The door to Lu Chenjun's office was slightly ajar, but Elena still decided that it was best for her to knock before entering.

Just as Elena was about to knock, she heard voices coming from inside the room.

Fang Shi awkwardly stood next to Grandpa Li as the elevator made its way up to the top floor.

Lu Chenjun had called Grandpa Li over to talk with him.

After the elevator arrived, Fang Shi stretched out one arm politely and held the door open for Grandpa Li to walk through.

Grandpa Li smiled at the hardworking assistant and patted him on the shoulder before walking straight up the staircase and into Lu Chenjun's office.

"Hello, Chenjun."

Lu Chenjun looked up from his computer and smiled at the arrival of the old man. He stood up immediately and pressed a button on the landline phone.

"Fang Shi, bring in two cups of tea."

Fang Shi quickly walked into the lounge room and poured two cups of green tea.

He knocked and waited for a reply before entering Lu Chenjun's office, and he saw Grandpa Li sitting across from Lu Chenjun on the couch.

He lowered his head and set the tray with the two cups of tea onto the glass table. Right after, he walked out, afraid of disturbing their conversation.

Fang Shi was in such a rush that he didn't close the door properly, leaving a small gap that allowed the voices from inside to be heard from the doorway.

"Chenjun, why did you call me over?"

"I just wanted to talk to you about something."

"Is it about Chu Hua?"

Lu Chenjun nodded but frowned right after, "Well, also Elena?"

"Elena? Do you mean Jin Yinghui?"

Lu Chenjun nodded, "I feel really confused right now."

Before he could keep talking, Grandpa Li interrupted, "You think that you still like Chu Hua, but Elena is making you confused."

Lu Chenjun nodded. Why are relationships so difficult?

Grandpa Li sighed, "Chenjun, you know nine years is a long time. It is enough to make people change. You definitely changed in these nine years, and Chu Hua probably also changed. I'm not telling you that you shouldn't like Chu Hua, but make your decision based on the present, not the past."

Lu Chenjun frowned, Grandpa Li's words circling around in his mind.

Grandpa Li opened his mouth again to speak, "Chenjun, do you know why Chu Hua left or why she came back? She left because -"

Lu Chenjun immediately cut Grandpa Li off, his eyes and voice cold as he said, "I know. I know everything. I'm not stupid, I figured out why she left a long time ago, and I could tell why she came back."

Grandpa Li was confused, "Then why aren't you doing or saying anything about it?"

Lu Chenjun leaned back against his chair, "I don't want to hear anything about Chu Hua's departure or return from anyone else other than herself. If she is smart, she would probably guess that I know about everything already. I am just waiting for her to tell me herself. Once she stops hiding secrets from me, I will be able to put down her sudden disappearance nine years ago."

"So that is what you are waiting for?"

Lu Chenjun nodded gravely, "But she doesn't seem like she's going to tell me."

Grandpa Li didn't say anything but instead asked him a question, "Are you going to break up with Elena?"

"Yes, I will talk about it with her soon."

"Are you sure?" Grandpa Li questioned.

Lu Chenjun knit his eyebrows together. He was sure just a moment ago. Why wasn't he sure now after Grandpa Li asked him?

Seeing Lu Chenjun's twisted expression, Grandpa Li sighed. Young people nowadays are really bad at following their hearts.

"You should think about it -"

Suddenly, the noise of something heavy dropping on the hard ground sounded from outside. Both Lu Chenjun and Grandpa Li turned towards the door.

Outside the office, Elena was still in shock from what she just heard. So it was really over for her.

She broke out of her stupor when she saw the door suddenly swing open. Grandpa Li's eyes widened at the sight of Elena. From behind, Lu Chenjun appeared and became equally surprised at Elena's arrival.

Before he could say anything, Elena turned away and darted off.

Hmm, is Elena going to give up now?
