48 The Major Reason

Cupcake, a girl who secretly loathes Sakura's very existence inside La la land cafe, happens to pass by the personnel room on her way to the kitchen. Her hate for Sakura increased in two folds as soon as she witnessed for herself how the boss favors her, big time, enough to be super worried for her welfare.

Ever since that girl was hired here, Cupcake felt that she was being left behind… not just by her boss but with people around her.

In her two years of working hard inside the cafe, she tried her best to befriend everyone to win their favor and also tried her best to perform well so that she could have a good salary and her boss' praises. Somehow, she managed to do all of that.

However, things soon began to change upon Sakura's arrival. At first just by merely observing her from afar, Sakura seemed not to be a threat to her or to her rankings.

Cupcake was, after all, the undisputed top-notch maid that La la land Cafe has ever had. Even that girl Sakura replaced couldn't compete with her charm and wits when it comes to entertaining the customers.

But all of her efforts she exerted the last two years have instantly been put to waste in just a couple of weeks!

Who would have thought that cunning girl can snatch her rightful place? She does seem timid and shy at first but drastically changed over time.

Is that all an act to win everyone's favor? How cunning could that two-faced girl be?

If it's an act, then Sakura was very successful with her cunning tactics! Cupcake admits that was a very smart move from her, acting all hard-working and shy to please everyone!

Cupcake clenched her fist as hard as she could until white knuckles started to show up.

I can't lose to a boring girl like her!

"Do you know anything about master Ken's plan on that particular night?"

Cupcake was just about to move on when she heard this and was suddenly stunned to her place afterward.

Yes, Cupcake heard about what happened in their cafe and to Sakura, but she really couldn't care less about it! Honestly, she was one of those few people who wished her ill to get rid of her from this place once and for all.

However, what she doesn't know is that her beloved prince charming by the name of Mori Ken, who also once visited the cafe at occasional times just to see her, is somehow involved in that incident.

Wait, how come he is involved here?

Cupcake plans to listen more of their conversation when Strawberry, one of her colleagues, also happens to pass by the area and sees her standing near the door of the personnel room.

Strawberry hunched her eyebrows together and went near the girl and patted her on the shoulders. Cupcake almost flinched because of that.

"Gosh, Strawberry! You almost scared the hell out of me!" Cupcake shouted and placed one hand near her chest.

It made Strawberry chuckle. "I'm sorry, but I find it strange to see you around here while your customer is waiting for you."

Cupcake's eyes widened. Right, her customer!

Though she wants to hear more of their conversation, Cupcake gritted her teeth in irritation and stormed out of Strawberry's sight, making the latter confused.

Just what was that all about?

Suddenly, Strawberry found the urge to look at what Cupcake was watching and immediately saw Sakura and Ms. Cookie through the transparent glass on the door.

Ahhh… now she understood well why Cupcake behaved like that all of a sudden. She and the other girls knew all along that Cupcake started behaving differently ever since Sakura came here and pushed her out of her throne as the top-notch maid.

Strawberry only shook her head in disapproval and walked away to proceed with her job.

Meanwhile, inside the personnel room…

Ms. Cookie was genuinely surprised by Sakura's sudden question and was taken aback by it. Seeing this surprised reaction from her boss, Sakura instantly guessed right away that she doesn't know anything about that.

As I suspected, Ken was a stubborn person who never tells anyone else what he's thinking.

Finally recovering from her shock, Ms. Cookie faced Sakura again and replied, "No, not at all! That boy isn't fond of sharing his thoughts with others."

Yeah… I knew it.

Sakura only sighed and said, "Well, he pretty much found out about those thugs all along and was planning to get solid evidence to get them arrested that night. That's why he came late and rescued me from those people."

"Oh? He did? He sure is weird! That kid knows that he can just walk up straight to me and tell me right away! Why must he always resort to such complex methods? He never changes!" Ms. Cookie can't help but shake her head dismissively.

Sakura, on the other hand, watched her boss' reaction amusingly. Since Ms. Cookie doesn't know about it, might as well get out of here and start to do my job.

She excused herself for the second time and immediately went out of the room to get back to work. At the back of her head, she was smiling for some reason.

When she really thought that Mori Ken had drastically changed over time, there are some certain qualities that he hasn't changed one bit.

And those qualities were the ones that she saw firsthand before anyone else…

Some people may find it stupid, but knowing the qualities of a person that the majority does not know about makes you feel somewhat special that they only show that side to you.

Sakura almost instantly figured out that might be the major reason why she was extremely hurt when Mori Ken suddenly decided to stop hanging out with her and left her all alone during their sixth grade.

Because deep down, Sakura assumed, and she believed, that Mori Ken holds her as a special person in his life...
