Second Sister

I shouldn't have left Second sister and Edmund alone. It was my oversight; I was too stubborn. While Second sister trusts me, it doesn't mean she'll be friendly towards everyone. I should have listened to their advice, but at that time, I was truly in chaos.

I grabbed the box and immediately ran back.

"Wife! Wrong way! This way!" Emery grabbed my arm and pulled me along as we ran.

"Second sister wouldn't really harm Edmund, right?" I asked while running, feeling anxious and guilty.

Emery, running briskly, replied, "Wife, in this world, people have very little to eat. Do you think Flying Corpse Monsters can eat anything?!"

My heart suddenly tightened. No, it couldn't be! Second sister wouldn't eat Edmund!

The more I thought about it, the more afraid I became. Our hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor, sounding like the intense beating of a heart, like "thump, thump, thump."

Finally, I saw the door to Edmund's chamber and immediately pressed the button!

"Swoosh!" The door opened, and at a glance, I didn't see Edmund but noticed Second sister anxiously scratching the ground inside her enclosure. When she saw me, she immediately stood up and rushed towards me. Her arms were long, and when she ran, her arms touched the ground, resembling the way a monkey runs.

Emery and I ran, breathing heavily.

"What happened to her?" Just then, we saw Edmund timidly poking his head out of the escape pod, his face pale. "She has been scratching the ground just now, scaring me!"

"Edmund! Are you okay?" Emery immediately went in, pulling Edmund out from the escape pod. Edmund hid behind Emery, looking at Second sister nervously.

Second sister ran to me and stood anxiously, showing signs of restlessness, pacing back and forth. I suddenly understood because this had happened before, yesterday precisely. It was—Second sister needed to use the bathroom!

"I'm taking her outside; she wants some fresh air." I placed the iron box on the ground and then grabbed Second sister's arm, quickly leaving. Edmund and Emery finally breathed a sigh of relief, standing at the door, watching us for a while. Only when it was just Second sister and me did Emery not stick around.

Second sister doesn't use the bathroom much, but when she does, it takes a long time. Also, she doesn't like Noah City's bathrooms because she got scared when I took her there last night. The toilets in Noah City are not water-based; their cleaning mechanism is somewhat similar to the toilets on trains and airplanes, employing a vacuum-like method. As a result, they generate a loud noise. The Flying Corpse Monster seems to be sensitive to sound, so she got scared last night. I comforted her for a long time before she finally calmed down.

I led her out of the city through the passage, a route I had become quite familiar with. As we stepped outside, I instinctively looked up at the sky, and indeed, the moon was nowhere to be seen. It had gone away, and Asna mentioned that it wouldn't be visible again until next September.

The moment Second Sister stepped out, she headed towards the main gate. I was torn, wondering whether to abandon the civilization of my original world. I was feeling a bit anxious too.

However, Second Sister seemed to sense something, extending her neck to look towards the east. I didn't know what she saw, but she turned her head and started walking towards the west.

She walked, and I followed. Her wings weren't fully healed, but she could gently flap them. Edmund mentioned that Flying Corpse Monsters have recovery abilities a hundred times stronger than humans; they possess powerful self-healing functions.

Second Sister kept walking, and I kept following. Gradually, the mounds of earth formed by the artillery disappeared, leaving a flat surface ahead. Second Sister, however, showed no intention of stopping. I was curious about how long she could hold it; we had already covered a considerable distance.

She continued for a long time, and I couldn't see the entrance to Noah City anymore. I felt uneasy; was Second Sister planning to leave? Otherwise, why didn't she show any signs of stopping?

Even if she wanted to go home, it was a normal thing, but I couldn't keep following her because now Noah City was my home. Besides, I hadn't had breakfast yet, and I was hungry.

Just when I thought she might be heading home, she stopped. The terrain in front of us was no longer flat; there were undulating small mounds, and the ground became uneven, not like the smooth surface above Noah City, as if it had been shovelled.

At the end of my sight, I saw the land gradually turning into a deep red color – contaminated land!

I stretched my neck again to look towards the east, perplexed, "What are you looking at?"

She lowered her face, looked at me for a while, and then let her long nails fall to the ground, sketching something. After finishing, she ran behind a mound, conveniently hiding her body. I could only see her wings wrapped in bandages.

I crouched down to see what she had drawn, and it turned out to be an eye!

This eye not only failed to unravel the mysteries in my heart but made them even more significant. However, at the same time, it surprised me. Flying Corpse Monsters can communicate with humans. As long as we approach them with care and patience, they are willing to communicate with us."Thud!" A sound came from behind the mound, and the entire world was instantly covered with a strange smell and awkwardness. I awkwardly rubbed my face and looked towards another mound on the opposite side. After much hesitation, I decided to go over.

Even in the apocalypse, as long as one is alive, any living being needs to eat, drink, and attend to bodily functions. When faced with instincts, all the fancy surfaces are stripped away. Even the most elegant gentleman will have to set aside his previous principles and behavioral norms, yielding to instinct.

In short, at this moment, I envied the convenience that guys had once again.

Looking west from the mound, the sky and earth seemed to have been split open, revealing a deep red blood flow. I stood up, and Second Sister had not finished yet. Looking at the deep red color at the end of the world, involuntarily, I walked towards it.

Step by step, I moved forward, and gradually, the ground beneath my feet became devoid of weeds. A faint red color began to emerge, deepening as I walked forward. I approached the edge of this ecological gap, as if heading towards the end of the world.

But I wasn't afraid because Edmond had said I was a radiation person, so I wasn't afraid of radiation. I didn't know how long I had walked, and my eyes caught sight of that deep red color, as if blood had covered the entire land.

I stopped because in front of me was a fault, preventing me from moving forward. The fault resembled a mountain range, continuous, connecting north and south. From where I stood, looking down, the fault was at least twenty floors high, forming towering cliffs. It seemed like the entire world sank below my feet, or rose up from where I stood.

On the barren ground, there were no signs of any living beings or plants, nothing at all. Even looking at the end of the sky, it was like gazing upon a deep red ocean, boundless, with no other land in sight, inducing despair.

Suddenly, I saw a faint crescent moon in the western sky, slowly advancing. Perhaps influenced by the deep red earth, that faint moon also took on a subtle pink color. I stared coldly at that pink moon, then, in the howling wind, raised my middle finger, proudly expressing my disdain.

"Woo——" Second Sister called out to me.

I retracted my perfectly raised middle finger. The whistling wind tousled my short hair as I turned and ran back. I had indeed gone too far; I couldn't even see Second Sister's figure anymore.

I ran for a long time before finally seeing Second Sister approaching me. I ran towards her, and she extended her claws to pat my head. A hint of gentleness appeared in her silver-white eyes amidst the howling wind.
