Let's Take a Bath

The massive steel plates in front of me slowly closed, covering the enormous water reservoir that was as large as a football field. The ground returned to its original state, and without careful observation, there was no sign of a gap. The grass swayed sparsely in the night breeze, becoming the city's best camouflage.

I suddenly doubted whether the entrance of our city gate could also descend and camouflage itself, given that it was covered in tall grass.

"Yvette—Yvette—" Emery's anxious shouts came under the silent starry sky. He was calling me Yvette, indicating that he was serious at the moment. I preferred him when he was serious; we could have normal communication and conversation. In short, he spoke like a human when he was serious.

No matter how slick he could be, I could learn a lot from him. He was my master, and he had abilities. When I say abilities, I'm not referring to the special powers in this world but a person's capability in our ordinary world. By the way, I still haven't seen his ability in this battle against the Flying Corpse Monster; I only faintly felt that he seemed unkillable and could quickly heal. I ignored him and walked back. There was no point in paying attention to him when he was being unserious.

"Washing hands," I casually replied, taking big steps into the city gate. The passage in front of me had changed; a transparent isolation door appeared, separating us from the original passage.

"Why wash hands? Come on, let's take a bath." He gestured for me to follow him, walking towards the right. As expected, there was a door on that side, leading to a different white corridor.

I looked at him in confusion, and he explained with a smile, "We can't go back the same way; there's a trace of radiation in the rain. We need to wash up. Haha, finally, we can take a bath!" He happily put his hands behind his head, wearing a mischievous grin, and walked inside.

I followed him, "So... you guys stood in the rain to be able to take a bath?" In Noah City, not everyone could take a bath every day. With the daily water supply limit, apart from sustaining food and drinking, there was simply not enough for bathing. So, taking a bath became an extremely "luxurious" thing.Under normal circumstances, men were allowed to take a bath once a month, while women could do so every two weeks. This was considered a luxury, and even Asna, as a princess, couldn't be exempted. If you achieved significant accomplishments, you could exchange them for bath vouchers, allowing you to bathe at any time. Up until now, I had only bathed twice, and on regular days, I simply wiped myself down with cold water.

Emery turned around and grinned at me, raising his eyebrows in a sly manner, indicating everything. I had wondered why everyone rushed out despite knowing that a heavy rain was coming and not bothering to wear raincoats.

"But Jessie's place..."

"If you're not purified properly, you can't go see Jessie." Emery pointed at my drenched clothes and even sniffed through the air, making a disgusted expression. "Wow, love, today is the stinkiest day for you."

"Get lost!" I kicked him directly, and he playfully jumped backward, leaping out of the passage. To my surprise, there was no longer a path behind him. Instead, there was a capsule-shaped chamber.

The moment he jumped in, the chamber's door closed with a hiss, followed by a thump as white mist blew out from the bottom. Inside, red lights illuminated, and Noah's voice sounded, "Trace amounts of radiation detected. Safety level confirmed, harmful to ordinary people. Emery, prepare for purification."

"Okay." Emery looked comfortable inside and winked at me. "Noah, be gentle when purifying my wife."

"I got it, Emery."

"Puff—" Instantly, the white mist filled Emery's small chamber, covering him entirely. I couldn't see what was happening inside.

I wanted to get closer and take a closer look, but the entire capsule suddenly dropped down, revealing a blue-glowing passage below. The entire capsule dropped down abruptly, and it genuinely startled me.

"Woo—" The voice of the conveyor belt-like sound echoed, and I instinctively raised my face. An empty capsule had already been pushed out from the white wall in front of me, quietly standing in front of me.

"Yvette, don't be afraid. I'm sending you to bathe." Noah's voice was very gentle.

Now it was my turn, and I hadn't been purified yet.

Curiously, I walked into it. Immediately, the door of the ecological chamber closed. For a brief moment, in this narrow and confined space, I felt a bit uncomfortable and nervous.

Then, "Thump!" Hot white vapor erupted from below my feet, blowing into my pants, lifting my clothes from my neck. I was completely dried, and not only my body but also my clothes! This was incredible, skipping the bathing part and getting dried directly."Yvette, there is no radiation on your body," Noah said.

"What?!" I stood there in amazement. "Noah, are you sure you're not malfunctioning?"

"Noah is not malfunctioning," Noah stated with certainty. "However, there are chemical residues such as sulfur, nitrogen, arsenic, and other chemical elements on your skin, which are harmful. Noah will send you for a bath." After Noah finished speaking, the entire capsule began to descend. The sound of wind surrounded me, and light circles passed by one after another. It seemed different from Emery's experience – there was no white smoke in my capsule.

When the capsule came to a stop, outside was a dense mist. Even through the glass of the capsule, I could feel a slight warmth.

"Swoosh." A platform extended from the right side of the capsule.

"Please place your dirty clothes here," Noah said, and the platform emitted a red light, as if guiding me.

This was a bit different from the usual bathing routine. Normally, it was similar to the public baths in our area, separated into individual rooms with a changing area.

I skeptically removed all my clothes and shoes, neatly placing them on the small platform.

"You can bathe now, Yvette. Please return here later to collect clean clothes," Noah said with a smile.

"Swoosh." The door in front of me opened, and immediately, the hot air outside rushed in along with the mist. Lindsay's hearty laughter echoed, "Hahaha—After Bill's roar, we all vomited. Bernice vomited the most, hahaha—"

"Don't talk." Bernice's muffled voice was heard in the steam.

I walked step by step toward the voices because the steam was too thick to see what was happening ahead. The ground beneath my feet was warm, covered with a shallow layer of hot water.

"Fortunately, Sister Yvette negotiated successfully. Otherwise, we would continue to vomit. Ahhhh, Bill's ability is so annoying!" Edwina complained. "Splash, splash," sounded the water.

I couldn't express my joy – was this the place?!

Suddenly, I stepped into an emptiness, and instantly, with a "splash," I fell into a warm pool of water. The hot water enveloped my entire body, providing instant relaxation!

"Splash!" I emerged from the water, unable to contain my excitement. "This feels so amazing!" I never expected that Noah City had hot baths!
