"He could be right behind you." Two male voices simultaneously sounded behind us.

We both turned around caught up in a surprise.

"Very funny!" Rebecca was the first to reply.

"Feisty. I like it." The man in a charcoal suit replied, with a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Let me show you how feisty I can be!" Rebecca dragged the man along with her into the dance floor and soon disappeared.

"Care to dance, my lady?" The quiet man in blue suit finally spoke, diverting my focus onto him.

He was also a tall man and from the structure of his face, I imagined he was also hiding a handsome face behind that blue mask.

But from the looks, I could see he wasn't nearly as toned as the first masked man.

I quickly wiped the thoughts and mocked myself inside. How could I be thinking of some stranger who I danced with for less than 5 minutes.

"I'm still waiting."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I can't dance but thank you for asking." I rejected him politely.

"I watched you earlier. You dance quite well."

"That was because he was leading me or else I would've been the laughing stock of this room," I answered him.

"How about I lead you this time?"

"Um.."

"I won't eat you up."

He chuckled to himself.

"I can tell you about my friend who stole your best friend." He finally said, to which I instantly agreed.

"Ok, let's dance," I said, happily this time.

He walked me towards the dance floor and just like what the other man had done.

The new blue masked man helped me the same way and we danced but this time in not as romantic music.

"So, when are you going to tell me about your friend?" I whispered to him.

"Good things come to those who wait." He gave me a cheeky smile and continued dancing.

"Fine." I sulkily replied.

On the other side of the dance room, the two couples were still strangled in their heated competition.

The man in the charcoal suit laughed as he continuously teased the girl in a yellow gown. She constantly gave him her gaze filled with hatred as she tried stepping on top of the man's feet but failed miserably each time.

"Alright, pretty fairy. Forgive me, I'll stop teasing you."

"I'll think about it," Rebecca answered back, not letting her ego drop in front of the man.

"What's your name?" He asked her before spinning her around and catching her in his arms.

"Rebecca. Yours?" She spun around him and stopped in his back.

"Marcel. What do you do?" He brought her back to face him again.

"Designer, I work for the host of this party. You?" She took the dance lead this time.

"Small business.

They both danced in sync this time.

"Can I call you a pretty fairy?"

"No, I have a name."

"But, you're just like the fairies from the fairytale books."

"Are you a kid?"

The two continued bickerings back and forth but this time in friendly terms.

Soon the pair of two were lost into each other's eyes.

"Your friend and my friend seem to be getting along well. Don't you think?" The blue masked man asked and to which I turned to where his gaze had stopped on the two.

"Yes, it seems so." I laughed.

The music stopped and changed to a different one but the pair of two on the other side didn't seem to have danced enough.

"How about a little walk, my lady?"

He offered me his right arm while looking down.

"Uh, sure.."

I gently placed my left arm on top of his offered arm.

I wasn't sure if I should be trusting this man but I couldn't feel any negative energy from him so I took a bet. Rebecca was occupied so what else was I supposed to do and the earlier masked man didn't return as he promised…. "Argh...Why am I thinking of him again!".

"Are you alright?"

"Oh yeah, of course. It's just a little stuffy here. That's all."

"In that case let's go over to the balcony."

Just as he said that a waiter carrying a tray full of cold drinks walked towards as. He picked up two glasses and offered me one.

"Does it have any alcohol?"

I asked the waiter before taking it from the man in front of me.

"No Ma'am, all the drinks here are alcohol-free." He replied before attending other guests.

"Thanks," I said to the man and sipped on the glass which instantly freshened me up. It was iced grape juice.

We walked towards the empty balcony, away from all the chatter and the crowd of mingling guests.

"Ready to talk?" I asked him and I would assume he knew exactly what I meant.

"Whatever about?"

"Who is that man?" I asked him again. I understood that he was purposefully avoiding my question which angered me to some degree.

"He is…."

"Yes?"

"He doesn't have a high status and the only reason he is here is because someone gifted him the ticket. He doesn't want to be looked down upon so he doesn't want to reveal his identity." He sincerely said.

"So, there's nothing wrong with that. Why should I care if he has high status or not." I quickly replied to him.

"That was not what I was asking." I sighed

"His character?" I asked.

He gave a slight smile.

"Aren't women only interested in man's status and wealth?"

"Well, Mr. You either mustn't have met many women or met too many of the same kind." I openly mocked him.

I was not the one to tolerate men's looking down on women, especially my best friend.

"What about you? Wouldn't you love the wealthy lifestyle?"

"No. At the end of the day, what's the use for all this glamour and glory. It would not compare to the price you pay."

"And that is?"

"Common you gotta be kidding me. Would anyone truly be happy?"

"The ladies here seem to be."

"Whatever. We'll end this discussion here!"

I stopped our conversation because at this point I had lost complete interest in talking to this man.

"Hm, Interesting." He quietly talked to himself.

"Alright, my apologies. I agree that not all women are the same."

"Accepted," I responded before turning around to leave him.

"Wait."

He grabbed my hand.

A man even more powerful than the blue masked man had been watching the pair of two since the moment they reached the balcony. He wasn't focused or interested in anything the businessmen or the officials were telling him about. All he wanted to do was zip the mouth shut of all these men around him and run to where the pair of two were conversing.

His jealousy had reached the point where he would soon start breathing fire.

But due to his status, he remained fixated on his spot while his heart burned with rage.

The moment the blue masked man grabbed her hand, he took a step forward ready to race towards the pair.

However, recognizing the man behind the mask, he stopped and went back to his boring conversation with the men around him.
