26 Don’t let me Down.

The sky today is vibrant and vacant, the sun's ray masking the landscape; what a rare sight. The street with cars shooting across in unison; red, white, blue, black...each in their own hasten state.

I was done with my second day at work, which was just a repeat of day one. However, not a second went by where either Prince Elijah or Robert weren't on my tail and the likelihood of them leaving me alone in the future seems slim.

I look back at the enormous building run by Prince Elijah, thinking back to all the other multi-billion dollar businesses he owns. At such a young age he was able to achieve so many things and then there's me, who doesn't dare such risks. Even for a prince, what he achieved is unfathomable.

From the underground parking area around the corner, came a flashy red car, catching all the attention and soon the attention was drawn towards me. There was no way I was gonna be riding in that car again and what other option did I have other than to hide behind the pillar, shaped in the weirdest formation. Atleast, that's what it seemed like to me; An architect noob.

The car came to a stop on the left side of the road but no one came out of the car, instead it stayed on standby.

"Why aren't they leaving already..." I kept my focus on the car while keeping my body hidden. However, with my busy self I hadn't realised someone had been standing behind me the whole time. I felt a slight tap on my shoulder which made me jerk and turn around; Surprised. I was yet again faced with the powerful Prince Elijah.

"Were you waiting for me?" He asked, completely oblivious of my true intention. Or rather, with an act of complete innocence.

"You gave me a fright." I exclaimed, hiding my guilt and a false smile on my face.

"I..I was um..just waiting for my taxi to arrive. I thought you left already so…"

I averted my gaze away from him and pretended to look at the time.

"No worries, there's plenty of space in my car."

"Follow me." He finally said, with a more assertive voice. His tone sounded more commanding.

I nodded and reluctantly followed behind, decreasing my pace with each step.

If only my taxi would arrive now; I wouldn't have to suffer through another torturous ride home. It's not that I hate being with him, the thing is, when I'm in close proximity with him I just don't know how to act. Especially, in a tiny closed space inside his flashy car. Thankfully Mr Robert is there, I can feel more eased when he's around but I really need to get used to this. How do I expect to keep this job if I'm like this.

"Just act normal." I tell myself. "He's your boss and you're just one of his employees. Nothing more nothing less." I'm able to calm myself down with this.

Once we come closer to his car, Robert jumps out in his elegant manner and waits for us holding the back door open.

"Thank you" I whisper and hop in after Prince Elijah, who's proudly sitting on the other side.

With his stylish neat hair and refined suit, he looked more like he was heading to a ball rather than his home after a long day of work. He was silently gazing at me, with a barest of emotion on his face. I gave him an awkward smile as I sat next to him and we both stayed quiet until the sound of the car engine turned on.

"From tomorrow you'll be riding with us, to and from work." He spoke finally and looked at me to hear a yes.

"I understand." I replied while lightly nodding my head.

"Good, Robert will pick you up every morning at 8:30am sharp."

"And.." He paused for a bit…

"Don't think I'm punishing you, you're here because I want you.."

"Ahem..Ahem." Robert coughed from the driver's seat.

Ignoring Robert, he continued.

"I chose you because I find you the best fit among all the other applicants."

"Thank you, I feel honored." I tell him.

"Good." He says.

"Your proper training will start from tomorrow. Don't let me down." He spoke and handed me an ever so elegant envelope with a royal blue stamp on the bottom right corner. I looked up at him surprised, waiting for him to say more.

"This is your first assignment which will take place in two weeks time. More information will be given to you after you pass your training."

I gave him a nod and stayed calm on the outside but inside, I was feeling less and less confident. My heart raced and my nervousness grew at the thought of a royal assignment.

We soon arrived outside my apartment; as usual Robert came outside and opened the car door for me.

"Thank you again, Mr Robert."

He smiled.

"I'll see you tomorrow Miss Hayley."

I left them both and walked towards my front door, however, I could feel an intense gaze following me but when I turned around, I was only faced with the tinted black window. Must be my imagination, I told myself, shaking my thoughts away while I entered the apartment.

"You're finally here! I missed you!" Rebecca came down the stairs and hugged me.

"Yeah, yeah..Of Course you'd miss your mummy little kid." I said sarcastically, while returning her hug.

"Was that Prince Elijah's butler, Mr Robert?" She asked, looking a bit curious.

"Yes, why?"

"Ohhh..Are you two…"

"Of Course not, nothing like that! He's just been assigned to drive me to and from work." I replied, dismissing her incoming questions. It was obvious what she was going to ask.

"Aw..How lucky! I wish my boss would give me a handsome driver too!" She teased.

"And we'd fall in love, live together and have kids toge…"

"Seriously! Stop." I yelled over her voice.

"That's not happening."

We both laughed and ended the conversation at that.
