1 Who am I?

Her brows scrunched as she seemed to have difficulty breathing added with the intense headache. Slowly the pain spread throughout her body. She tried hard to breathe and open her eyes but to no avail. After hours of agonizing struggle the pain finally started to ease. She breathed in heavily and was finally able to open her eyes. "That hurt so bad. I thought I was going to die."

She sat up and reached the glass of water by the bedside to quench her parched throat. But something was not quite right. A faint sense of fear, anxiety and nervousness built up within her but forced herself to maintain her calm as she observed the surroundings but nothing seemed familiar. "Where in the world am I? Was I kidnapped?"

However, the room was quite big and well-furnished though nothing could be seen clearly as the room was faintly lit by the table lamp which was quite dim. There was a faint fragrance of lavender which was thanks to the essential oil diffuser that was placed in the bedroom and helped calm her nerves. It looked nothing like a scene of being kidnapped.

The room had floor to ceiling windows giving a magnificent view of the outside which was still dark. However, it would soon be dawn as the horizon was faintly lit by the sun's rays. She was definitely in an apartment or a condominium as she could se the lights from some buildings and skyscrapers and the vehicles on the road.

She noticed the photo-frame beside the jug of water and brought it closer to the table lamp. It was a picture of a young girl along with her parents. It was a lovely picture. She switched the lights on and walked around the room. "I wonder whose room this is. Why in the world am I here anyway? Doesn't look like I'm kidnapped. Huhh. Besides it is impossible to kidnap me, the great...the great…."

It was then that a realization came crashing down on her and her eyes slowly turned so wide that the eyeballs would likely fall out of its sockets. "How can I forget my own name!!!? "What's my name? I can't remember my name". She tried hard to identify herself but her brain seemed to have gone on a jolly good vacation . "OH GOD... I can't remember anything."

She thought hard but couldn't remember. Just then the same pain from earlier assaulted her again. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't recollect even a tiny speck of memory about herself. Instead the pain intensified. She finally gave up as she limply sat on the cold floor. She stared outside the window with a blank look. "What's happening to me? Why can I not remember anything about myself? Am I going insane? No.. no.. no.. no..This won't work."

She stood up to find something but she didn't know what. She was panicking now and that wasn't helping her in any way. She forced herself to calm down by taking in deep breaths. However the worry and anxiousness still remained as it was evident through her scrunched brows and jumbled breathing.

She searched through the drawers of the bed side table with help of the table lamp but couldn't find much. She got up and walked around the room looking for the switchboard which she managed to find somehow and turned the lights on. It blinded her eyes for a few moments from which she quickly recovered.

The room was indeed magnificent. The furniture around the huge room was elegant and the curtains and other decor suited well to the tastes of a young miss of a rich family. However, right now the young lady had no time to be in awe of the magnificent room.

She went out of the bedroom but there was not a single soul to be seen outside. From her observation it looked like an apartment. She went to the next closest room. the lights switched on automatically the moment she stepped in. Well, that did give her a little scare. She was currently a nervous mess after all.

She opened the door and noticed that it was a study room . She wasted no time and rushed to the table and fumbled through the drawers. She failed to notice the beep sound along with the flash of green light upon contact with the drawer.

For a reason unknown she suddenly stopped. She stared intently at the book in her hand. "A diary!? Well do I know to read?" She opened the diary. "Leah Lu...(sigh) Thank goodness, I know to read." Though she was relieved she found it absolutely strange that she still remembers how to read despite forgetting everything else. "God is still merciful to leave me with something at least. It's a pity that I don't know who I am and who my family and friends are."

She put the book down and turned towards the digital clock. 5:23 a.m., 29 February 20XX. "Hmm….oh she's quite pretty. I guess this place belongs to her" she commented at the portrait of a girl in her teens. "I wonder where she is right now. Is she not worried about leaving someone else in her room? I guess I should just worry about myself."

She stared outside the window for some time and then let out a huge sigh. ' I have to find out a way to get my memories. maybe the owner of this place can help. I wonder why she left me alone here.' Sigh. ' It might also be possible that I'm the owner'.

The young lady was stumped by that incredulous thought. She totally forgot to see what she herself looked like. ' Ugh...I'm so stupid. Why didn't I do this earlier?', she rebuked herself as she sprinted to the dressing table in the bedroom.

She stood rooted in front of the mirror as it reflected a young beautiful women in her early 20's." 'Leah Lu' she thought to herself. Her facial features were very very similar to the teen in the photo she saw earlier in the study room. She was blessed with a pair of beautiful and glossy dark brown eyes and long wavy hair of the same color that reached up to her waist. She was 167 cm tall with amazing body proportions. God really blessed her with good genes. And it somehow seemed to be God's way of compensating her for the loss of her memory.

" I am Leah Lu".
