She was lost.

That was the only thing that Riley could think of. Those moments that she thought she was safe, it was all a lie.

A lie to make her believe that she has the upper hand, that she has a chance for a new life. It was all an illusion.

Riley's frail body started to shake with fear. He knew where they were. He had always known. The fires were his reminder that he had known. Usually, the fires would happen a week after they had moved in.

What happened?

They had been in Scotland for more than three months? Riley had lost track of how long had been staying in this country. This was the first time the kids were relaxed for a long time.

Why does that fire have to happen? Why now? Why after a long time?

Riley looked at her phone. She longed to call the only friend she had. Julie was someone she never thought she could befriend with. They were different in more ways than one.
