Childhood friend

Ariadne changed from her training uniform. She wore a sky blue satin gown, matching the look with a butterfly neck piece and earrings. She put on some glass sandals and marched out of the training sector.

It felt nice to release some of her vent up anger. She had planned to break Draxan's ego and make him forget the idea that women and men could ever be equal because it was just an illusion. But so far she had not the chance to do so.

Women were far more advanced that men, they were faster stronger and had abilities that men couldn't even comprehend. It was not a funny joke for them to think that they could ever match up to them.

It was only right if men stick to what they know how to do best. Taking care of the family, they should be seen around the house going about their business and not heard creating problems like trying to change the way of life.

Walking down the corridor she tried to shake the feeling she had at the training ground. She wished to ignore it but her instincts most of the time were never wrong and hence it was hard for her to. She could swear she felt his eyes watching the whole thing.

From where and how he did that was hardly something that she could discern. "I should go and inquire from him," shd uttered to herself and changed the direction of her tracks. And marched towards the direction of her room.

Her curiosity was getting the better of her. She had to confirm whether or not he was there and what it is that he saw. In no time she made it back to the room, she reached her hand to the door knob but halted in opening it.

She heard voices inside the room. One being the male voice of her husband and the other a female voice that she didn't recognise. Her eyebrows furrowed, she leaned her head to the door to listen in on the conversation.

The door was thick so she couldn't make out what it was that they were saying. It was so frustrating to her, she inhaled deeply and released the air before turning the door knob and pushing the door open.

Walking into the room, she found a startled girl seating comfortably on her bed and Draxan not to far away from her. She clenched her hand into a fist.

A vein on her head was about to pop from the nerve the girl had to sit on her bed without her permission. There were so many seats in the room, for the girl to make her pick that she saw no reason for her to choose her bed to sit on.

"Your highness," the girl got up from the bed and bowed her head on greeting.

"You know to greet me without meeting my gaze but you dare sit on my bed so casually," Ariadne let out unable to brush it off.

She would have to sleep on that bed and the thought of some girl whose origin she didn't know sitting on it would not seat well with her. She wouldn't be comfortable being in that bed.

"My apologies my princess. I knew not that me sitting on your bed would offend you, please forgive me," the girl spoke apologetically with her head still facing the ground.

"You have a way with words but a mare apology won't do. I~"

"I asked her to seat on the bed," Draxan interrupted her. He had seen what the princess had done to the fugitives in the secret training sector and wished not upon his friend the same fate.

Ariadne's frown deepen. The nerve of her husband to dare to interrupt her as she spoke, that too in front of someone else made her blood boil. She glared at him in displeasure.

"She is my childhood friend Nadja," Draxan went ahead to introduce her to the princess.

Ariadne looked from Nadja to Draxan and sighed. "And you couldn't see your friend in the royal garden, the family room, the outhouse, the hall or any of the many unused rooms in the palace?" Ariadne questioned.

Her room was not a hosting ground for visitors. It was a private area and having so many people granted access to the place where she last her head was not a good idea. Assassinations we're a thing of the new to a royal and it can happen in many forms.

Poison could be applied to the bed sheet, her pillow or anything she may touch in the room. She was not one to take chances.

"I was here when she arrived so I asked the servant to bring her to me," Draxan said. He could see the princess's mood getting worse by the minute and it made him shiver slightly.

The things he had come to learn of her, the things she was capable of made his heart skitter in freight of her losing her temper. Unknown to him was quite the contrary, the princess was much more dangerous when she was calm that when filled with anger.

In anger she throws childish tantrums but when given the chance to calmly handle a situation. It was then that she was at her best.

"When did she arrive?" Ariadne inquired from him. They were seated in one room together behind closed doors and talking about goodness knows what. That made her dislike the situation even more.

"She arrived with some of my family not long ago," he stated. "Izora has gone to provide them with proper accommodations while they are here," he added.

Draxan strode over to her slowly, his movements steady and the look on his face calm. He did not give away the fear that he was feeling in his heart.

His steps halted when he stood before her, with what Izora said to him in mind. He decided that then was a better time than any to start on his plan to make her fall in love with him.

"I hope that you won't be angry at me for this. I apologise if I have offended you in this," he apologised to her.

Ariadne narrowed her eyes while looking at him. They hadn't been married long and she didn't know much about the male but she did know that he was way too proud to apologise to her. So she was confused as to the change of behaviour.

"Please will you forgive me?"

Ariadne felt her frustration fade away. Her mind was blank, she had prepared to argue with him in case he tried to talk back at her about the situation they found themselves in but with him apologising, she was short of words.
