Hopeless

"Hi," I said in a whisper, "I needed to see you," I told him and a hint of a smile appeared on his face. I shyly pulled a chair next to the table to sit in front of him.

"I will be quiet since you said you wanted some time alone, I won't speak from now on. Promise." I gestured with my hand to pretend I was zipping my lips close and then turned around to look at the singer who was playing a song. We remained in silence for three songs until the waiter came to our table and asked us if we wanted something, I shook my head to say no and smiled to thank him without speaking. Cameron ordered a cappuccino for me and two slices of cake.

When the waiter left he commented, "I never said you can't eat either."

I bit my inner cheek to avoid a smile on my lips from forming and one song later my cappuccino and the slice of cake came to our table.

I quietly ate, at the third bite he spoke, "I missed you too."
