Donovan

When he arrived home, his baby sister, Lesley ran to him in her pajamas and seemed to be waiting for the news on Zoe. She smiled but Donovan wasn't in the mood. He placed his hand over her head and patted it.

"You nearly died today. Now, try to think about your actions on going out without bodyguards."

Lesley sighed and nodded her head. She was apologetic.

"Did you kill them?" She asked.

"Not yet." He went upstairs to his room as his sister continued following him.

"How about Zoe? Is she alright?"

"I think you already asked that." He removed his shoes as he walked to his closet and removed his coat, throwing it at the laundry basket. The maid came with fruits, cheese, crackers, and his dinner, and it was set up by the balcony. "Zoe? No name matches her face."

"What? Did she lie to me?" She exhaled frustratingly. "I told her you are rich so she would protect me. She even said that my earrings are beautiful which no man would notice."

Donovan looked tired when he turned around to his sister while he was unbuttoning his shirt.

"It doesn't make sense. The words you said."

"I am not a lesbo. But I am attracted to her. What I meant was, she wouldn't run off if she want my earrings."

Sometimes, Donovan thought that she only spoke nonsense so he stared at her. He's used to her non-stop chatting so he just listens while he's removing his shirt. He went to his walk-in closet to change into something comfortable but he came out in a robe instead. Lesley then continues.

"So, all you have to do is find her and bring her to me. Tomorrow." She even gave a deadline. She's that demanding. But he loves her anyway and it doesn't matter how demanding she is.

"I am a very busy man." He said as he sat down.

"Let Jace take her. Come on! It's a simple request. After that, I will follow you this time. Whatever you say." She said and sat on the mahogany aesthetic chair in front of her and picked up the fork for fruits.

"Hmm, interesting." He took a small piece of cheese and placed it on the piece of crackers as he took it to his mouth. "You just met her for like minutes or was it only an hour? Then, you want me to kidnap her and bring her here?" He scoffed. "Listen, sis. If she wants the diamond badly, she would come here and take it. She would search for you."

"Alright, in two days. When she didn't search for me, you should take her and bring her here." She smirked.

"Fine."

Charlotte felt like her body had been hit by a truck. She called the office for another day off. She stared at her naked body for a long time. Something happened and it might be bad. She remembered that she got kidnapped and two girls were weeping in the back seat. She might have saved them. Wait~~now she had thought about it, Zoe had saved them.

She quickly grabbed her notebook and wrote it down to make sure to keep track of her episodes. Then, if she had the money for sessions, she can easily get the treatment she needs.

She finally decided to dress up in her baggy outfit and went out to buy some food. Her lips were cracked as she hadn't taken care of herself for days. She then bought some cooked food and then a bag of ice and some pain killer. She refused to walk close to the side of the road and insisted on walking closer to the walls that she passed by afraid that something might happen again.

Upon going back to the room that she rented, she poured the ice on the foldable bathtub with water and she undressed to soak her bruised body in there. Bruises on her abdomen and arm were visible, nearly black. She was cold she stayed for a few more minutes until she quickly stood and put the thick robe on.

"Hssss." She hissed as her lips wobbled.

It was six-thirty in the morning. Donovan stared at the profile. He cleared his throat and snapped his fingers. He will become one of the investors of that company and they might call him the director among all directors. She seemed to have performed well and there were a few cases where her colleague seemed to try and kick her out. She was also sexually harassed as she did not file a complaint and let the manager handle it internally. She's small, looked frail and it indeed seemed that she can't kill an insect. Her identity lingers in his mind. Who is she? Charlotte, Zoe, or Autumn? These identities only pointed to a single person.

"Sir, it's being processed. It seems that half a billion is enough to put you in a higher position."

"Good. Call the CEO of this country. I shall speak to the big boss later. Set up a meeting with him."

"Yes, boss."

Jace came in and put the documents in front of him.

"She's back at her work. Night shift."

"Alright, take her out tomorrow for a breakfast meeting. Do not mention it to Lesley, yet."

"Hmm," Jace crossed his arms. "She will nag me. You know that."

"Don't tell her yet. Until I spoke to this woman."

Jace nodded his head as he left the office. A smirk drew across his lips. He was patiently waiting for this so that he didn't get to sleep. He finally left the office and went to the restaurant that he owns. Waiting for Jace to arrive with her.

Charlotte stared at the tall dark handsome man in a suit as he got out of the car. She shook her head and the man blocked her.

"Please, Miss Lesley wanted to see you."

"You got the wrong person." She said and lowered her head.

"Miss Charlotte. A few nights ago, you were kidnapped along with Miss Lesley. She would like to see you and speak with you."

"Look," she finally looked up at the tall guy. "I don't know her."

"You killed three men," Jace said as her eyes dilated. She stared at him. She reached for the Swiss knife in her pocket. "No one wants to hurt you. I won't hurt you. We just want to talk to you."

"You better take me back here as I have to work tonight."

"I assure you." Jace smiled.

Then, the door opened for her and she got into the car that smelled lemon and mint as Jace sat on the other side and offered a cold drink. She raised her hand and threw her bag and pressed something on her phone. Then, she leaned her head to relax.

"I see that you don't remember a thing. We took you to the hospital when you passed out."

"That's how you know my name and where I work?"

"Yes," He smiled. "Our boss had to take more measures on other things just to find you."

Charlotte sighed, feeling more tired than ever.

"I don't know what I did." She mumbled.

"You saved Miss Lesley." He flashed his perfect teeth. It was charming and somehow his teeth were perfectly white and aligned.

"I'm not gonna die and get killed by you, right?"

Jace laughed and shook his head.

"Never. I won't do that to someone who saves Lesley. Her brother specially said to protect you no matter what."

Somewhat, Charlotte trusted the man. She will find a way to get out as soon as possible if they plan something bad for her.

They soon arrived at a fancy restaurant. She was puzzled as to why there were no people and on the door it said that it was closed. There's also a private guard outside the door and Jace led her inside. There, in the middle was a man in a suit waiting patiently while sipping on his coffee. Her heart raced, with butterflies in her stomach. The man looked up at her and stared at her eyes rather than scanning her from head to toe. The man stood and extended his hand.

"I'm Donovan Diederich."

Charlotte stared at it and then she shook his hand anyway.

"Charlotte." She said casually.

"Have a seat and order what you want."

She sat down as Jace pulled the chair for her.

"No. Just tell me what you wanted to tell. I have to leave early." She said and didn't put her bag down.

"I can book a hotel for you."

"No." She said in a low voice.

Anyway, Donovan doesn't like the word 'no' but anyway, the food was served without her choosing on what to eat. Donovan had guessed that she wouldn't order a thing. Jace soon joins them after a few phone calls. She didn't want to touch any of it but Donovan insisted and so was Jace. Anyway, she won't spend money since it seems that they were going to pay for it.

"Your sister, I thought I was meeting her," Charlotte said before she even touched her food.

"Eat and we will talk about it," Donovan said without touching his food. Then, the Chef came in gloves, a mask and gently placed his food in front of him. He had watched how the Chef made his food since he was picky. Anyway, she ate the food and enjoyed it. She hasn't eaten something like this.
