chapter 16: a reality dream

RAFAEL'S POINT OF VIEW

"To be honest with you, I haven't spoken to anyone like this ever since I escaped from my home. Even though we just met, I feel comfortable talking to a guy like you.

Wait—those words might sound like I'm flirting, but I promise to you I'm not." Rena said as she chuckled.

"Wow, I-I really appreciate it and I hope you would be able to solve your personal problem." I said.

"So do you." She said as she smiled.

"Hey, I really want to talk to you but my stop is right here, so I hope we could cross paths with each other soon?" She said as she checked her things in her bag.

"Sure, see you Rena." I said as I smiled and she stood up then the train stopped.

"Likewise, Rafael." She said as she turned around then left as I noticed something fell from her bag.

"Hey Rena, y-your ring!" I shouted as I grabbed the ring from the floor and the train started moving.

Before I could talk the driver to stop the train, I saw the ring disappeared as I hold onto it with my fingers awhile ago. I started getting confused as I saw a small smoke from where I hold the ring. It started flying towards the bracelet my Grandpa gave to me then the small smoke went inside. All of the sudden, I felt sleepy then I immediately closed my eyes and sleep.

"Look what do we have here." A lady said as I slowly opened my eyes.

"A young man? With a Magicia bracelet? Great job, my little smoke." She continued as I sat up then looked around.

"Wh-Where am I?" I asked.

"Oh no dear, this is a dream, but related to what will happen in the reality." She replied.

"Look if this is the part where you ask me for money or atleast rob me with any of my things, right now is not the best time." I said as I slowly stood up.

"I'm not here for your money or some robbery related, Rafael McAdams." She said.

"How do you know my name? And can you atleast show yourself so I won't sound crazy like I'm talking to air?" I asked.

"Sure, but I thought you have a kind personality and this personality of yours would surely be a great fit for me." She replied as I sighed then a lady appeared right infront of me.

"Y-You're a ghost." I said as I pointed at her.

"Of course I am, since I've been dead for nearly 40 years now." She said as she rolled her eyes.

"B-But, I can see you, why?" I asked as I frowned.

"Before you answer your questions, I want to introduce myself. My name is Maria Greene and I am the founder of the Devilio Magic a long time ago." She replied as I frowned.

"Maria Greene? Are you related to Rena Greene?" I asked as I did my confused face.

"I have a granddaughter? Well, atleast Matthew and her wife finally did something about this." She replied as she scoffed then I sighed.

"But yes, we are related and I thought I would be facing Rena right now since she already knows all about this." She continued.

"So, you weren't expecting me to see you in my so-called dreams and talk to you in a conversation like this?" I asked as I glared at her.

"Sheesh, you're too sarcastic and feisty Rafael, you remind me of someone I used to know." She replied as she scoffed.

"Can we just get to the part on why I am here and why can I see you?" I asked as I sighed.

"Alright then, come on let's sit down." She replied then we did so.

"As you already know, I was the founder of the Devilio Magic, a team of villains that are aiming to defeat the ones who were part of the Magicia-" She said then I cutted her off.

"Wait, I read about you somewhere. Oh my, y-you're the villain who tried to kill my Grandfather a long time ago, along with his friends who were in the Magicia team and the fortune telling one." I said as I looked at her and I started raising my voice.

"I see that you and Romeo McAdams are actually related, I suppose you are friends with the Johnson and Fitzroy families." She said as she scoffed.

"I haven't heard from both of those mentioned families—wait, are you planning on passing forward this whole Devilio Magic thing to me?" I asked.

"We love a clever man and yes I'll be passing forward to you the whole Devilio Magic stuff." She replied.

"Look, I'm sorry, but I don't want to be involve with the battle you had with my Grandfather and his team back in the past. Not like you care, but I've been dealing things at the moment and I don't want to include that evil magic in my life." I said in anger as I glared at her.

"Oh I know you've been dealing with financial problems at the moment Rafael and I want to help you with that as long as you help me as well." She said as she evilly smirked.

"If that includes physically hurting and using evil magics to the opposite team, no can do. I am a good person and I don't want to hurt any people with it just because of the feud you had with your college bestfriends." I said in anger.

"But, don't you want to have enough money to provide your needs? Do you want to keep on asking for money through your friend until Romeo and a girl that I-don't-even-give-a-damn knows about it? What do you think would be their reaction, Rafael?" She asked as she evilly smirked.

"Would you want to see them hurt for lying to them about your financial problems? Where will you end up once they find out about all this? And who do you think will be there for you afterwards? No one, Rafael. No. One." She continued as she stood up and walked around me.

"Come to think of it Rafael, once you agree to do this, you won't spend most of your time with some boring jobs, when you can be part of the Devilio Magic team and you will receive thousands of dollars a month from my bank account depending if you do the tasks I asked you to do." She said in an evil fone as she moves her face closer to me then I rolled my eyes.

"No matter how you try to convince me in doing this Maria, in the end of the day, I won't dare to be part of this ever. So, can you please bring me back to the reality? I am literally in the train for hours now and I should be somewhere important now." I said as I glared at her then I stood up and turned around as she snapped her fingers and a memory appeared infront of me.

"And with the friendship ring you said, i-it isn't a random ring y-your friends got you, Maria. Many decades ago, our ancestors and theirs are somehow connected, and the ring symbolizes many things. With that, they decided to pass on the rings they made for the next generations to come. So when the ring holder needs help, their guardian would be there." A lady said.

"I-I had no idea, I'm sorry Mother, and thank you for finding a way for you to communicate with me. I never knew I needed some help until you came along." Maria said as she sobbed.

"Who are those people?" I asked as I turned at Maria.

"My mother and I, the day Celestia and Michael betrayed me." She replied in anger.

"It's okay sweetie, I'm sorry I abandoned you for a long time. But like I said, my mission here isn't finished yet. That's why I need you to do it for me, for our ancestors." Maria's Mother said as she smiled.

"Wh-What do you mean?" Maria asked in confusion.

"I know you and y-your friends are attempting to make spells together. That's why I need you to continue the Devilio Magic started by our ancestors, and hopefully end with you. Because after so many centuries, none succeeded, so that one day this planet Earth would be nothing but darkness and different. Once we would win this all-time battle, the thrones would finally be ours, and with that we can do whatever we want." Maria's Mother said.

"B-But Mother, I am not capable to win the battle. I-I am still young, I barely know about magics." Maria sighed.

"You are, and don't worry it could be a part in your daily lifestyle. You are our only hope Maria." Maria's Mother said.

"I'm sorry Mother, but I am not evil as you think. My friends might've betrayed me, but I would never do any harm like that especially to the innocent people. I get that it has been a practice from our ancestors, but this isn't a way to have peace in this planet." Maria said.

"Seems like you had the same response back then, Maria." I said.

"I don't know why this can't convince you enough Rafael, how were you being raised?" She asked as she groaned.

"I've been raised to become a kind person to anyone around me, unlike you being raised to be an evil monster just like your past generations." I said as I glared back at her.

"What is up with this generation? Why all of you aren't easy to convince?" She asked as she did a facepalm.

"You know what, at this point I have no choice as long as you do what you offered." I said.

"I always keep my promises Rafael, I'm glad for you to be part of this team." She said as she evilly smirked.

"Here, wear this ring together with your Magicia bracelet so that we could discuss the details soon." She continued as she pulls out a ring from her pocket.

"Thank you Maria for this opportunity, I won't let you down." I said as I smirked then she nodded and created an exit for me to wake up in the real world.

"You know Maria? I learned alot ever since I came in here." I said as I walked towards the exit.

"Is that so?" She asked.

"Yeah, including the part where you can be easily fooled with a clever person like me." I replied as I smirked and she gasped then I threw the ring.

"Goodbye, Maria." I continued then I left.

"Ahh!" I said as I flinched and I opened my eyes.

"Well thank God, that was a dream." I mumbled.

Good thing I slept for an hour and I woke up before I arrived to the airport. After a few minutes, the train stopped and I went out the train together with some train passengers. I went on an airplane that will fly back to Philippines and I looked for a seat.

"Excuse me, is this seat available?" I asked as the person infront of me looked at me.

"Yes, Sir." The man said then I nodded and sat down beside him.

After I placed down my things, I grabbed my phone and receive a text message saying,

You won't get away from this Rafael, you might be clever from awhile ago, but I won't stop convincing you to be part of the Devilio team 😈
