1 THE PROMOTION

The meeting will start in a minute Mr Kang's assistant said with her eye's fixated on the file she was holding. Kyrah gulped, Linda never liked her especially the face she would give her anytime she went into Mr Kang's office i sometimes wondered if being the boss's secretary gave her the right to look down on people. Kyrah couldn't stop thinking about how insignificant and small she would feel if she didn't get promoted three times in a row she looked up at the Van Gough painting hanging on the wall opposite her while she let her mind drift off. Jinyoung seemed to be doing well for himself she mused, as she tried to conquer the feelings of low self esteem building up within her she wished she had the courage to tell Jinyoung how she felt about him but she knew she wasn't going to say it now not yet not when she's this pathetic. they've been close friends for years but were in completely different worlds he's the only son of a rich Korean family and he's doing pretty well himself on the other hand, she's just a Korean American he met in Uni and that's all she also wished she wasn't viewed as a coffee errand girl at the office but was given credit for the ideas she brought to the table instead of her superiors. but, no the strong, cool, pretty, sophisticated woman wasn't her. she was the direct polar opposite with her unmanageable black hair, c rate looks, and short height(well she wasn't model tall she was only five foot five) she was miles away from the Korean straight black haired, brown eyed Jang Mi Rae who works at Jinyoung's company and constantly uses every opportunity she has to make a move on him. Kyrah at least comforted herself with the fact that she had beautiful grey eye's which a lot of people had commented on though they were mostly left unseen behind the thick glasses she wore. she practically had nothing going on for her maybe that was the reason she felt she had to push herself hard to excel at academics and secure a scholarship at Sanil National University(SNU) in Korea being that she was from a poor home and her fee's couldn't be afforded. "MISS" the sharp reprimand from Linda snapped her out of her reverie she had been daydreaming. "As i said before it's time for the meeting". she said in a rude tone and resumed staring at the document's in her hand's. oh well Kyrah time to go in let's not get our hopes up this time i said that before any special promotion announcement i have been a part of and i still get my hopes high. well, then it get's crushed afterwards i was seriously hoping that wouldn't be the case this time. she let go of her feelings of insecurities and finally went into the meeting room and took her seat she kept wondering if she'll surprisingly be promoted this time and if she was, she'll have to give an impromptu speech. she wondered if she looked presentable enough. maybe she should make a quick dash to the bathroom to make sure she looked alright? she decided, that would make me seem desperate and nervous . i should be confident, " I HAD A MONTH TO PREPARE FOR THIS MOMENT!" too late, she realized she said it out loud soon all eye's were on her like she was an organism placed under observation. at that timing Mr Kang walked in with a sullen look on his face and i knew that look at this point i didn't need him to say it wasn't me, i knew. it turned out the promotion went to Lee Rim i mean i'm not surprised she's an executive's daughter, so it's completely normal. i couldn't even feign happiness i was bitter down to my bones why didn't i have parent's i could benefit from as well, all my dad knew to do was loose money gambling he always lost and made me pay he's debts he's never been a father since mum died. As i walked out the meeting room i heard my phone ring it was Jinyoung i didn't know how or what to tell him i had told him about the promotion and how i was sure to get it and he said he'll treat me to dinner with his friends well i bummed it anyway so why not have some fun i picked up my phone and told him i had gotten off work and he said he was outside my company building waiting, so i hung up and headed outside. seeing Jinyoung was never old to me just the image of him leaning against his car waiting in just a casual tee and jeans was enough to send butterfly's to my stomach i was really in love with him and i definitely wasn't ready to tell him i didn't get promoted. i gave out a shy smile when our eye's met and said hi i was so guilty when i got into his car but i wasn't ruining this night not for anything as she was lost in thoughts Jinyoung's voice that enveloped the car felt warm to her ear's he asked, you definitely got promoted this time right? in a stutter she said o...o....oof course i got the big promotion i guess my hard work finally paid off . i felt awfully guilty seeing the smile of approval on his face . the rest part of the car ride was kinda quiet but not akward i kind of felt proud and enjoyed the praise though i knew i didn't deserve it. in a few minutes we arrived at "Famous" it was one of the biggest and luxurious hotels in Seoul Korea i couldn't believe i was actually there well considering the size and scale of the place not anybody could go there we walked in and were directed to the bar area a group of guy's and some girls waved towards Jinyoung they were his friends they all looked high class and well dressed they were all casual but had class and i just looked basic. he waved at them and we soon joined them there was an abundance of drinks so much that i couldn't see the base of the table i tried all the drinks i knew, and those i didn't know i had so much fun. soon it was just me and Jinyoung in the hallway i was dizzy why were we in the hallway? in a moment of seconds we suddenly disappeared from the hallway and ended up in a hotel room.

____The next day____

Kyrah woke up she froze she was so scared to look beside her she knew who was there, she knew she made a fatal mistake. she didn't know how to face him, or what to say to him. she burst into tears. The sound of her crying made Jinyoung spring up from his sleep he just sat there on the bed and let her cry. she cried till her eye's were swollen then he reached out his hand to her glasses on the bed side table and put it on her caressing her face softly with his palm in a soft voice he told her "Kyrah i'll take responsibility for you, i love you". hearing those words from Jinyoung at that moment felt like everything to Kyrah she trusted him at least it wasn't onesided they have eachother.
