CHAPTER 48

In the crowd music played as the guest danced at the tune. Squeezing in the crowd Daya found her way to the dancing Joan. The song almost busted the speakers (Dance with somebody) Bebe rexha.

'I just wanna dance with somebody'

She walked pushing and stepping anyone who was in her way. A slender hand flicked Joan on her shoulder,

"What a surprise," Daya pretended covering her mouth. Looking for a reaction from Joan only to get an annoyed look.

"Oh… a surprise indeed." Joan said uninterested. Having no time to chat with the snob in front of her Joan decided to leave only to be stopped but Daya. "What now… can't you read the room,"

"I see you're still arrogant, what can I say…" Daya smiled looking at her clean policed nails. "I'm still on top."

If Joan told a random person that Daya was a spoiled brat no one would believe her. Everywhere she went she carried an elegant and gentle look making people feel different about her.

But when it came to Joan, she was different. She talked too much, eat and laugh loudly. The two were totally different.

"Yeah, that's true," An arrogant smile danced on her face taking a step near Daya.

"You're soo boastful about being on the top, don't you see you're still in the same place," She said standing straight showing a stagnant move. "Just like a vase weighting for the owner to change the soil."

"You..." No words could foam on Daya's mind. She was so furious she was shaking; she thought Joan seeing her would feel bad but instead she humiliated herself.

"You say that I'm still in the same place, that right I'm still that one girl that has everything and you…" Her eyes sized Joan. "You'll still be the girl under me with nothing but poverty and slavery." Daya spat.

"Hahaha…" Joan laughed. It's true she still had nothing under her name. Being born in a complicated family truly destroys every dream. But that didn't mean that you'd give the more privileged chance to step on you.

"I might have nothing but all I have now is my sweat and blood. At least I can boast that I started from somewhere… not mommy and daddy's money." She spat in a more serious tone.

"When you have something under your name then come and boast to me." Joan concluded picking a glass of wine.

Lewis sat quietly next to his dad, he didn't like anything that he's dad planned. Opening this grand building meant that he was his own man and could do anything without anyone not even his father interfering.

"I will not agree to any of this bullshit, we are in the twenty first century not the time you had to be forced to get married."

"You are still my child and I want what's best for you," Lewis couldn't help but smile bitterly.

"Please think twice before you spit some words. We both know you are doing all this for your own benefit." Everything that he said was true.

Mr Wells wanted to use his son to expand he's power. Daya's parents held power which would help him.

"So what, I'm I not allowed to use you? I brought you on earth to educate and benefit from you"

"Sure that's true but you'll never be a father figure to me...so stop calling yourself a father."
