CHAPTER 1: BACK TO MY PARENT’S HOUSE

MACY

After seven years I am back in my dad's house. I spent my time looking around, my old room when I was 16 - 17 of age.

It was still the same as I left before. I sighed lying in my bed looking up into the ceiling. I still miss this town where I gained few friends and found my best friend Shayla. We were still kept in touch no matter where I go so did, she.

My parents like this town. They even think that when the time comes if they will retire. They will still keep this house and live in this town forever. No more going somewhere else for retirement. They were contented with this place and the people around here.

After I got my diploma in culinary arts specializations in baking and pastry. I already planned moving back here because I always love this town too.

So, I decided to put up my own business here for starter. I always love the smell of the breads, which is why I chose that course.

My dad already helped me find some good locations while I was still living with my grandmother's house.

Just few months ago before my graduation rite she passed away. And left me all her assets like some money in the bank and properties.

I did not really like her town that I lived in for 7 years. Well, it was okay but I am not into that area for my business. I sold her house and other assets that it cannot be useful to me.

I then moved back to my parent's house but temporarily. I found the perfect location for my bakery then everything will go as plan. I have choices to choose actually.

"Mommy!" I heard a voice speak outside my door and it opened.

"Hi, baby. I miss you." He frowned as I said that.

"Mommy, please do not call me baby anymore. I'm a grown-up dude already." He complained then sat in my bed.

"Ok, honey but you will always be my baby, you know that." I grinned. "I love you, dude." Then I kissed him.

"Whatever Mom!" he shook his head. "And I love you too." Then hugged me.

He really grown up too fast as if it was like yesterday, I carried him inside my tummy. Being a teenage mother was not really that easy. But with the help of my grandma and my parents I survived it up to this day.

"So, tell me, how was your new school? Did you make new friends? Do you like it there?" I asked him.

I know what it feels like being in the new environment. He goes to my previous school when I was younger or let me say before I got pregnant. The school where Shay and I went in high school but to the other side.

My son came here first. I told him to go with his granddad without me so that he can be familiarized with the surroundings.

My father picked him up because I still needed to settle everything before going back to a new place.

He was here two weeks ago. Today was his third day of school since the school started. I am curious to hear about him.

"Yes, my classmates were nice to me and I gained few friends with the same sports I like. We are going to try out basketball for kids in our school gym this Friday." He proudly told me with the spark in his eyes as he talked. He really looks like his father in all aspects as he grows older even the sport he chose.

"Oh, honey, that's good to know that you have friends in that school and did great. I was afraid that you will not fit in or you do not like it here." I smiled. "But I guess, I was wrong indeed. Do not worry about it, son. I know that you will be a part of that team because I am your mother, I know you are excellent in that sport."

I know, I am not totally what he really needs right now when it comes to sports. I am not into sports even I was a kid. I was shopaholic in high school, remember? But I try to give him moral support in everything he does. However, I cannot tell all the details about his father because I keep this secret from them.

It is not yet the time but I know more or less they will see each other soon. For now, I will not think about it. I should focus on my new path I choose now.

"I told you even before, Mom that I am brave in everything I do and wherever I go I will do my best." He said with chin up. "I can handle everything."

"Okay, okay. I get it now. You are a very strong boy because you came from me." I smiled and kissed him. "Do you want me to watch your try outs?" I asked.

"No, Mom, it's okay I will text you if I am selected in the team." He smiled.

"Okay then you know I always trust your abilities." I pinched his cheek.

"Ouch, Mom! You will ruin your handsome son's face." He grinned and I shook my head, smiling. "Mom, I am hungry." He pouted.

"Okay, come on down with me." I said, extended my hand. "What do you want me to cook." I asked as we walked out from my room down to the stairs.

"I do not know. Ahmm, anything will do as long as it is you, cooking it for me." He smiled.

My son is not a picky eater. He can eat anything.

"Okay, how about Pasta Pomodoro? It won't take long to cook." I suggested.

"Yes! I love pasta." He was jumping for joy when I said pasta. He loves it that much.

"Okay, dude! Just go to the living room and watch something." I told him. "I will call you when I am done."

He ran towards our living area. I was smiling the whole time. He is the treasure of my life.
