4 Another Chance (3)

The concept of 'luck' was ridiculous. But so did the concept of supernatural things. Something straight out of fantasy was unimaginable.

Something I've only been familiar with through watching and reading happening in reality was hard to accept.

Didn't think that I would get transmigrated…

Although I resolved myself to use anything that was available to me to gain strength, the hardships that would probably come with it was something I am not yet prepared for.

For all the fantasy-isekai tropes that I had watched and read, the common thing that they all had faced the same was the suffering of near death experiences.

Well, it's not that I am the main character of some story anyway.

In my past life, even though I lived without taking advantage of other people's weaknesses, I was not unfamiliar with the dark side of the business.

Understanding that people's malice, greed, and jealousy could reach unimaginable heights was something I was required to know.

Being able to know their hidden goals and their true motive was what allowed me to reach success and evade damages. Ignorance of it was something I couldn't allow.

Therefore, the seemingly bottle of potion in my hand right now was outright suspicious. I had learned that in this world, there was no such thing as free.

Those free things might even bring heavy consequences—directly, and indirectly.

That being said, a reward was a reward. This potion, after all, would be my first step to gain power in this world.

It came from the system. So it might contain some magical skills. And if I were to base the skill on its name, it's likely that it might be a 'job change' potion that would give me skills based on the job name.

Although I said that I would even gladly steal anything, why marauder..? If I need fate defying skills, then I would need some prediction type of skills.

In that case, being a mage was attractive to me. Mages wield skills that are, of course, magical. And who's to say that being able to magically prophesied the future wasn't included.

After all, the future is something that is the most vulnerable to the concept of luck.

Going back to my present state, the thing that I was suspicious about the most was the system itself, and the smartphone that I threw.

The system for one, at least according to what I had read and watched, could be a beneficial one, or it could be a type of system that would bring madness to the MC—such as having the death penalty, or that it would force you to do its horrible bidding with horrible consequences.

I, as a fantasy fan, definitely hate those types of system the most.

"Hello, system. Nice to meet you," I called out to the system with a smile.

Few seconds passed, and there was no response. That was a good sign.

"System," I called out again, imagining the system appearing.

This time, a black purple hologram—the system, finally appeared.

[Welcome to Achievement System]

[Available Rewards To Be Claimed: None]

[Book of Achievements(expand)]

[Inventory(expand)]

As I saw the system, I sighed a relieved breath. Thankfully, it seemed that the system I got was completely interactive only. My system had no visible sentience or ego in it.

Meaning, it's fully up to me if I would like to utilize it or I could just ignore it until the day I die of old age and there would be no repercussions.

But…

I would like to get stronger. So there's now way I wouldn't simply just ignore this system.

Looking at the third text, I clicked on it as I saw a bundle of text—including the one that I just unlocked.

[Steal A Body(Completed!)]

[Low Sequence Beyonder(Locked!)]

[▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇(Hidden!)

• Unlock the previous achievement to reveal!]

[▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇(Hidden!)]

[*******...]

The list of achievements went all the way down, having no sign of limitations. But unfortunately, aside from the second achievement, all of them are still hidden.

"It seems that I need to complete the other achievement first before I could see the remaining achievements," I said as I brought my hand on my chin.

I clicked on the second achievement and said, "Beyonder? What is that supposed to mean?"

[Low Sequence Beyonder(Locked!)

• Goal: Drink your first beyonder potion.]

"This seems easy to achieve. After all, I already have a potion," I said.

I stared at the potion at my hand. "Since the achievement title says 'low sequence beyonder' and 'first beyonder potion', it must mean that this potion is the lowest grade out of all the potions."

"And since this is a Sequence 9 potion, there are probably 8 more—Sequence 1 being the highest."

Then… It means that my previous speculation was wrong. This potion was not a 'job change' type of potion.

Although, I felt that the 'job change' was probably close.

I sighed. "Haa. In the end, I need to drink the potion first in order to understand something," I said as I stared at the achievement reward.

[Low Sequence Beyonder(Locked!)

• Goal: Drink your first beyonder potion.]

[Reward/s:

• Basic mysticism skills.

• World of beyonder knowledge.]

I stared at the system, trying to make a decision as seconds passed.

After a few more seconds, I straightened out my posture.

"Alright, I decided. I'm gonna drink this now, the more risk, the more the stake there is!" I said with resolve, bringing the potion near my mouth.

The liquid went down my throat as I drank it. Immediately, my body started to twitch.

"Argh!!" I groaned as I started to feel my whole body hurt.

I went down. I could feel every part of my muscles twitching in pain, especially the joints of bones.

The wrists, hands and fingers, knees, and feet. Those were the parts where it was noticeably hurting the most.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

My bones produced a popping sound as if it was being realigned.

Just then, I felt something unknown flowing and moving inside of my body. For some reason, although uncertain, I could feel that it was a type of energy—and that I couldn't control it.

There was something I am sure though, if the surging unknown energy still remained as it is, it would bring me absolute harm. Worse, it could kill me.

"Fuhh. I need to calm down," I said as I sat down, trying to meditate in order to control the uncontrollable energy.

Closing my eyes, a few seconds had passed as I suddenly gained an understanding about the potion.

I roughly understand my new ability from the knowledge who knew where it came from—ah, correct. A knowledge I roughly understood from drinking the potion.

Just then, the system showed up right the next moment as it made a notifying sound.

Ding!

I then opened my eyes and looked at the system.

[Achievement Unlock! Low Sequence Beyonder]

[Reward/s:

• Basic mysticism skills.

• World beyonder knowledge.]

[Accept: Yes/No]

Without moving, I thought to my head, 'Yes!'

At this exact moment, I gained another set of knowledge and miscellaneous mysticism skills. Browsing through the mysticism skills that I had just gained, I immediately proceed to execute one of the skills.

Cogitation.

It was a state and worked mainly in order to retain rational focus of one's mind. In this state, one could retain complete control of his thoughts and emotion, an effective way to calm one's self.

And in this state, one could control and calm down one's surging energy—spirituality.

Entering this state was simple, one needed to think of a single object and maintain focus of it. As a beyonder, one could simply let their thoughts empty and they would enter this state.

"Fuhh," I exhaled as I tried to imagine a single object. For some reason, a single monocle appeared in my mind as I let my thoughts be emptied.

I had now entered Cogitation. Few seconds later, my spirituality finally calmed down.

I sighed in relief. "That was scary," I said to myself as I sorted out what I gained today.

Combining the knowledge from the potion and the reward, I am now certain of one thing.

I am now a beyonder.

A beyonder of Marauder pathway.

Coming into with my new ability—theft, I suddenly heard a tap of footsteps at the other side of the dark alley.

Someone was approaching.

"Woah.. Ya' look bloody horrible. Kek," A thug looking person said while smirking.

"And who might you be?" I responded with a smile.

Knitting his eyebrows, the thug raised his voice in annoyance and said, "Hahh?! Ya' don't know me!? Kekek. Ignorance won't get you far, ya' know?"

Bringing out his phone, he clicked on something.

—Beep!

Suddenly, the phone that I threw away brightened up.

[Battle Encounter!] The text on the screen said.

The thug laughed as a knife suddenly appeared in front of him out of nowhere. "Kekek. My guess is right! So you're also a D-Game player huh..." he said.

"Today is a lucky day," the thug added.

Looking at the sudden situation, I smiled at the opportunity.

"Although I have no idea what this 'D-Game' means... I agree. Today is a lucky day," I smiled at him.

This was an appropriate time to test my ability as a sequence 9 beyonder.
