56 To the Ship

Salted ocean could be smelled and voices of the sailors could be heard in the harbor. When Leon arrived here, he looked for a ship that was going to Stain island. Stain island was very far from the mainland and Hermes couldn't go there without any stop, so it was the only solution for Leon, but for days he waited here, he didn't hear any ship that had the same destination with him.

While he was here, he stayed in an inn and waited for a ship to show up, so he could go to the island. The inn that he was staying, had a restaurant on the first floor, so Leon would sit there and listened the tales that the sailors were telling. He learned too much about the sea and the dangers in it. Leon didn't think there would be anything that could endanger him in the sea, but hearing these stories made him calm.

In his previous life, he read books to pass his time, he wasn't an avid reader, but he still read and that made him calm and stay away from the daily stress of the work. After he reincarnated, he read books, but the most of them was about magic, so that could be counted as professional education. He didn't have time to read books to calm himself spiritually. In this world or Aroan world, there weren't any game or movies, most of the residents were going to the taverns and establishments like that to pass their time, but that wasn't a really good choice for Leon.

Aside from the books which was about getting stronger type books, there wasn't really any book to pass time in both worlds. There were that kind of books, but they were mostly romantic books, and Leon wasn't into that. So hearing tales of sailors and occasionally listening their songs, calmed Leon's mind. Leon wasn't under stress, but after learning that somebody did something to his soul, he couldn't calm himself. When he killed the monsters to relieve his anger, it didn't solve it. It just calmed him a bit, but hearing tales and songs, Leon realized that he couldn't do anything about it at the moment, so he shouldn't be burdened by it, he should focus what he could do.

While he didn't have anything to do, Leon focused on scanning his eyes over and over again, and compare them to the known eyes in the books that he collected. He noticed that, his eyes were very different from all the eyes that was in the books. But that didn't mean that he was clueless about how to improve them, basically all eyes have the same function, so his eyes weren't that out of the norm. But he didn't want to blind himself, so he planned to gather as much data as possible before he started to cultivate an eye technique. Even without taking the rest of the techniques that Theo was collecting, he could create an eye technique, but he didn't want to just see the things that he couldn't at the moment. Leon also wanted to create illusions with them, he thought it would be a waste if he didn't fully unleash potential of his eyes.

In the restaurant, Leon was sitting on a chair and closed his eyes, his head was facing above him. No one in the restaurant bothered him, because they could see Hermes, who was laying on the ground. At first The inn didn't want to allow Hermes to enter, but Leon said that Hermes liked the cooked meat and he wouldn't create troubles. Of course, no one would allow with that, but Leon also gave them gold five times over the regular. Money was the easiest way to solve problems. He also told the innkeeper to open his ears about any ship that was going to Stain island.

The dungeons in the system world wouldn't be a secret, so everyone could know about them. But the dungeon in Stain island was far from the mainland and it wasn't worth to effort to enter. Leon also knew that there was a primordial well was inside of the dungeon from his clearance level. So he was going to finish the both jobs at once when he cleared the dungeon.

"Mister, There is a ship which was going to sail to Stain island."

As soon as Leon heard that he opened his eyes and saw that there was a waiter who was standing three meters in front of him who was shaking.

"Show me the way." said Leon. The waiter timidly nodded and started to walk, Leon also followed him. They passed through damp streets and arrived at the harbor in ten minutes or so, they didn't talk while they were walking and Leon could see that the waiter was afraid of Hermes.

When they came to stop at the side of a ship that was slim from the side, but longer in length, it was a yellow ship with its paint became darker at the bottom. It had white sails and sailors were cleaning the deck. After coming here the waiter pointed the ship and left like somebody was chasing him. Leon looked at the ship and stepped on the deck.

Presence of Leon and Hermes drew the attentions of the sailors and they looked at them. But none of them asked why they came to the ship, they saw that Leon was walking with a griffon, so they thought he was a second generation young master of an aristocratic family. Leon also didn't talk with sailors, he was looking for the captain or someone with a rank to talk.

"This young master, why did you come to our humble ship?" a strong voice asked.

Leon looked where the voice coming, and saw a breaded, and a bit gray-haired guy was talking to him. He was clearly the captain from his uniform, so Leon didn't beat around the bush and directly told him.

"I want to go to Stain island and I heard that this ship was going there."

"Aye, that's true. So young master wants to go to Stain island? Is your pet docile?" asked the captain. Leon nodded as a response. Leon also paid some gold and get himself a room in the ship, of course, he paid extra for Hermes to board the ship. The ship was going to sail about two hours, so Leon didn't leave the ship and entered his room with Hermes. He just laid on his bed and closed his eyes. He started to read about the magic and books about researches.

He read about two hours and noticed that the ship started to move. Leon left the room and got the deck of the ship to see the sea. The salty smell of the sea and waving of the ship like a cradle, was giving Leon a peace of mind. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then he opened his eyes and went to the side of the mast, he leaned and sat down, closed his eyes and listened the sounds of the waves and working sailors.

He knew that the voyage would take some time, so he might as well enjoy it.
