Bar Fight

The next day Yern had a few things he wanted to get done. Find somewhere for the gang to meet so they wouldn't crowd the clinic. Gather as much information as he could about Marrow's smoke weed operation. But first he had to get something to eat. He hadn't had a proper meal in a few days and he could feel the hunger catching up to him.

He made his way out of his house and went to find Titan, Sar, and Tack to give them the bonus he promised for dealing with one of Marrow's men. And he needed Titan as his bodyguard. He went into the clinic, nodding at the guards and saw Allen with the younger girl who seemed to be working in the clinic now.

"Allen you seen the three I was with last night?" Yern asked, not wanting say any names in front of the patients in the clinic. " I haven't but come here, I have to introduce you two." Allen said, going into the private back office. Yern followed and closed the door behind him. The young girl, probably around eleven seemed scared of Yern as she hurried back to Allen's side.

" This is Mya, she'll be working as my assistant. If you can't find me, ask her about anything money related." he said, moving the girl from behind his leg.

"Oh so that's why you recruited her. Well nice to meet you, Mya." Yern said, in his friendliest voice and extending his hand for a handshake. Mya hid behind Allen again.

"She's a little shy." Allen explained, trying to hide a smile.

Yern talked about his plans for the day with Allen after Mya went out of the room to watch over the patients. Yern told Allen about his thoughts about going to Jack, the information broker to see if he would sell any info that could be used against Marrow. Allen thought it was a good idea but we should be cautious just in case Jack had some hidden allegiance to Marrow.

They talked about getting into the smoke weed business and how much more money they would be able to make if they figured out how to get it. They would also need people to sell and guard the place, so maybe it wasn't worth it. There would be no point to it if they made no profit.

Yern's stomach interrupted their conversation with a growl.

" Go get something to eat. And take the runners to get supplies too." Allen said, holding back a laugh.

" Yeah I will. Where's Mack? I thought he was your bodyguard." Yern asked.

" I sent him to rest, he'd been up all night worried about an attack." Allen explained and handed Yern a list of supplies and a pouch of money for the runners.

"Well at least he serious. I'll be back in maybe a hour or so." Yern said, grabbing the list and money before leaving the clinic.

Now Yern had to find where the runners and the enforcers lived. It wouldn't be a hard task, just tedious. Going from door to door and seeing who lived there. 'Not a job a gang boss should be doing now that I think about it.' Yern thought as he walked to the next house in the row.

Yern realized that the location the clinic was in was perfect. It was in a circle of houses with one main entrance. When they took full control of this area, they could place guards at the entrance and wouldn't have to spread their manpower too thin to guard the place.

After going from house to house for almost ten minutes he knocked on the door of a bigger house and heard footsteps coming to the door.

"What you want!" Sar yelled from behind the door.

"Open the door." Yern said.

Sar opened the door and his face dropped as he saw who he had screamed at. Yern walked into the house and saw the rest of the enforcers and runners all in the same house. Most of them stopped what they were doing when they saw him.

"The runners, Titan and Sar come with me to the Marketplace." Yern said. He really wanted to bring everyone in case they ran into the group of Marrow's men that chased them last night. But he knew he had to leave people here in case the clinic was attacked. They left for the Marketplace after everyone had their weapons and Yern sent all the people who weren't going with him closer to the clinic.

A few minutes later they were arriving at the Marketplace and the runners and Titan went off to get the supplies while Yern and Sar went to a bar to get something to eat. This bar was much bigger than the one where Yern had heard about Marrow's stash house. Since the Marketplace was somewhere everyone in the district came too it had to be bigger. The Marketplace bars also had a larger variety of foods and drinks. Sar and Yern took a seat at a table near the entrance so the runners could find them when they were done shopping. Yern took twenty coins out his pouch and handed them to Sar.

"What's this for?" Sar asked, looking at the coins in his hand.

"Your bonus. I was serious about that." Yern explained. Sar looked at the money in his hand for a while longer until a waitress came to their table.

"What are you boys having today?" The older woman asked excitedly

"Two chicken legs both with rice. On me." Yern said, holding out the coins for both meals. The woman took the coins and told them the food would be out soon. " I want to offer you a better position. You would be a bodyguard like Titan but also go and kill anyone I need you too." Yern said quietly to Sar. "There would be a pay raise too."

Yern had been thinking about how he would get rid of people who weren't necessarily enemies but were in his way. So he came to the conclusion he needed a hitman of sorts. And he had seen Sar willingness to kill.

"Give me some time to think about it." Sar slowly said, surprising Yern. He was sure Sar would jump at the opportunity. But he would respect Sar and agreed to give him time to decide his answer.

They sat in silence until the waitress brought the food out. The two of them stuffed their face until they heard someone behind. "Hey aren't those the bastards who killed Isaac?" Yern looked at Sar whose hand was already on his knife and shook his head. Sar understood the message and let go of the knife. They couldn't kill anyone here our the Peace Enforcers would throw them into jail for at least a year.

Marrow's men didn't seem to care as they were getting up from their table and coming towards Yern and Sar. Yern didn't want to bring attention to himself and his gang right now but he didn't have much of a choice with the men approaching quickly. The only reason they weren't already attacking Yern was because of all the tables and chairs they had to navigate between to get to him.

Yern stood up and got ready to fight without his knife and Sar did the same. Yern didn't want to escalate this more than it needed to be by drawing a weapon. There were four men, just a few years older than Yern. They got closer when Sar picked up the chair he sat in before and threw it at the oldest looking of the guys, causing him to fall over.

A short man stopped to look at his friend that had fallen and Sar took the chance to jump on him and repeatedly punch him in the face while Yern kicked his chair into another man's leg and charged the remaining man who was further away then the other three. The fight spilled onto other peoples tables and they called for guards and a few second later guards were shouting for the fighting to stop as they tried to break it up.

Yern looked at a guard that was getting closer and shouted at Sar to run and they hurried out of the bar back into the Marketplace. The Peace Enforcers chasing after them, shouting for them to stop.

They ran until they saw Titan's head pecking over the crowd and then ran towards him and the runners.

"Boss! What happened?" Titan asked, noticing the small cuts that had come from fighting around the wooden furniture.

"We got into a fight with some of Marrow's men. The Peace Enforcers are after us so go back to the clinic." Yern explained quickly, making sure they hadn't been spotted yet.

"Where are you going if not the clinic? I'm coming with you." Titan said

"We can't lead them to the clinic. You don't need to be wanted either so you can't come with me." Yern said before noticing the Peace Enforcers pointing at them a few stalls away.
