Chapter 131

After a few minutes, Alvin started to hear footsteps. He looked up, to see Fred and Harrold, and behind them was Hannah from the Red Gloves.

"Hey guys. If you are looking for Miss Werewolf, she is over there" said Alvin weakly.

Hannah first came up to him and asked, "How are you doing?"

"Been better. But I think I'll be fine" replied Alvin.

"Well, it's good that you are fine" said Fred clearing his throat and smiling.

Alvin glanced at him unhappily but did not say anything.

He was extremely pissed at the Machinery Hivemind. They not only changed their plans willy nilly and changed the location of the ambush from outside the factory to the tunnel without telling him, but after he caused the Werewolves to suffer from a blast at close range and informed them, they somehow managed to let it slip.

Considering that he killed her with some difficulty, she definitely wasn't a Wrath, or even a Zombie. She was a Sequence 7 Werewolf, with extremely limited strength and moves.

"We should channel her spirit before it dissipates" said Harrold.

"Unlike you, I know how to follow plans" grumbled Hannah, in a low but clearly audible voice, prompting Alvin to give her a thumbs up.

Hannah then went over to the corpse, and set down a candle near it. She then poured spiritual materials on the corpse and invoked her abilities as a spirit medium. Alvin could see she was channelling the spirit of the Werewolf, but was unable to hear the contents due to the wall of spirituality she had set. But he wasn't that interested either.

After a while, the candle went out and Hannah broke the wall of spirituality.

"Well?" asked Fred.

"The exact same thing as the previous one. Nothing new" said Hannah.

Fred nodded, and said, "Let's go back to the factory"

"Do I have to come?" asked Alvin.

"Yes. Captain Gordon is also there. You have to tell what you saw" said Hannah

After hearing that Gordon was there, Alvin was much more relieved. He was now deeply distrustful of the Machinery Hivemind, and coupled with the distrust towards MI9, he didn't have any good feelings towards the two groups that would be there.

But Alvin still trusted and liked the Nighthawks. They did treat him well, and the Evernight Goddess was a fellow transmigrator. And Gordon was quite protective of him too.

Alvin then walked to the factory, with Hannah, Fred, and Harrold. Harrold was dragging a huge box with wheels behind him, which housed the remains of the Werewolf Alvin killed.

The surroundings of the factory was completely surrounded by multiple police officers and some members of the military, who had set up a perimeter and were disallowing anyone from entering. The four of them were waved in by a military official, and walked to the factory, or what remained after it.

What was left of the factory resembled nothing like it was previously. There was a huge crater right above what used to be the underground storage room, and Alvin could see right into what used to be that underground storage room. Considering that all three passageways were open, oxygen must have accumulated enough to set off the whole batch of gunpowder, after Alvin had taken a portion of course.

Near the factory, Alvin could see a few people arguing. Alvin recognised Gordon and Bruce, and a black-haired man he recognised as the MI9 official who negotiated along with Gordon with the Intis Ambassador back when they attacked the Zmanger Gang.

Alvin also saw another unknown person with messy pale blue hair listening in, but looking aloof as if what was going in was none of his business, and another blonde haired one looking all fidgety.

"I did agree for you to investigate, and I still do! The 6 captured people are accountable for this mess, and you can interrogate them! But what's the big idea of blowing up the factory? I said discreetly! At least 5 times! And guess what? This is not discreet! Not in the slightest! I will be knee-deep in the horde of reporters who will question my competence in handling the security for Backlund!" roared the MI9 official.

"Calm down Nostradamus. Things got slightly out of hand. The important part is, no one got hurt. The many mystical items that were recovered today can be used to offset any losses to the factory and the general public. I am sure we can to a reasonable settlement" said Gordon calmly.

"But the mystical items do not belong to Baron Conglas" said the blonde-haired man weakly.

"Not from where I see it. They seem to have been confiscated by some criminals who were running an illegal gunpowder smuggling racket and blew up a factory. If Baron Conglas disputes these charges, he can approach us anytime. But I would suggest he prepare his defence for us approaching him on why one of his factories had this much gunpowder hidden underneath it" said Bruce firmly.

The man mumbled a few more words, but the other 4 stopped looking at him altogether, Nostradamus from MI9 went back to yelling at Bruce and Gordon.

"We should focus on the Rose School of Thought now. We have killed two members today. Anything we can pursue?" Gordon said interrupting the raging Nostradamus.

"No sir. When we got there, Alvin had already killed the Werewolf. I channelled her spirit, but like the previous one, this person too had prohibitions on her spirit preventing her from disclosing the hideouts of the Rose School of Thought. But she corroborated the account of the Werewolf you personally channelled earlier. They were informed by some 'Black Rose' who came from the headquarters that there was a hidden passage to a large stash of gunpowder. They came by hoping to get transport some to a hideout somewhere in Backlund. And she too has no idea who the Black Rose is. Like the previous one, she only knows that Black Rose is a member of the branch in Intis, and came to Backlund a month ago" said Hannah.

Gordon nodded, and then spotting Alvin said, "We roughly have an idea about what happened. But do tell us everything from your perspective"
