9 Chapter 009

"Anything else?" asked Xio after a while.

"If you are interested in finding ordinary tasks, you should speak to Frank. If you are interested in jobs related to Beyonders, you can tell me" said Alvin.

"Anything currently?" asked Xio.

"Yes. Details about the incident last night. A bounty for potion formulas of most pathways, though the buying price will vary. And information on Beyonder ingredients and mystical items. Except the first one, the other three are always open" said Alvin.

Xio stayed silent. She then asked, "Do you have the potion formula for Sheriff?

"No. But I can probably get it for you for about 450 pounds if you want" said Alvin.

Xio nodded, and finished her drink. She then talked to Frank some more and left.

"That is decent as a preliminary contact. I should help her out a bit later, and get a good relationship going" thought Alvin.

Alvin had been at the bar all morning. It was an ordinary day mostly. A few people looking for some shady work do be down, people looking for shady work, alcoholics and people with stress to relive coming and going. Alvin was getting impatient, as he wanted to go home and consume the potion right away. But he was still waiting. Before coming to the bar, he did a few divinations with the Coin of Wonders. According to the results from asking multiple questions, the best time to drink the Hunter Potion was at 5 in the evening. And, he needed to stay in the bar at least till 3, as he would have some extremely beneficial encounters.

The intution granted to him by the Coin if Wonders hinted that this would be an amazing encounter that would be of immense use to him.

At around 2, a young boy who looked about 16 years old walked into the bar. He looked way too young to be in a bar, so he drew a lot of curious gazes. Alvin to caught notice of the boy, having a stance feeling that he was special. He walked straight up the counter, with his head down and shrinking his neck. He then asked Frank, "Where can I find Mr. Hunt?"

Frank, who was wiping a used glass, thankfully did not look at Alvin again. The scolding he revived was quite effective seemingly. He continued on with the glass, and glanced at the boy from the corner of his eye.

After maintaining silence for a while, he asked, "Who wants to know?

"My name is Evan Rosier sir" replied the boy.

"Don't care who you are or what your name is. I asked who wants to find Mr. Hunt" replied Frank.

"I do sir. I wish to commission his services" replied the boy.

"You are too young to be commissioning Mr Hunt's services kid. You should go to the police if you have a problem" replied Frank.

"The police aren't helping me, sir. I overheard a conversation from my father about his commissioning Mr Hunt's services. He praised Mr Hunt immensely. Now he is missing, and the police are brushing me off. I don't know any private detectives, and I am afraid something might happen to him if I wait any longer. Please help me commission this to Mr. Hunt. I have brought 50 pounds as a deposit. I will have my father pay more" said the boy, as he took a few notes from his pocket.

Frank looked at the boy deeply, and gestured him to wait. He then walked out from behind the counter and walked into a private room in the corner.

Alvin, who had overheard the conversation, was pondering the situation.

"The boy seems to be genuinely worried about his father. This may be because he heard or saw that he was up to some dangerous stuff. The police may be unwilling to assist for this reason, or the boy might not even have contacted the police. Should I take this job? And is this the beneficial encounter which I divined would happen?" though Alex.

He then took out the Coin of Wonder, and tossed the coin while asking himself if he should take the commission. The coin came up heads. He then re-tossed, asking himself if it would be dangerous. The coin came up tails.

"So definitely beneficial, and no Beyonders. Or else the question about danger would come up yes, as even a Sequence 9 would pose some degree of danger to me as I'm not a Beyonder yet" thought Alvin, deciding to accept the commission.

Frank walked out of the room he went onto nonchalantly. Alvin picked up an empty glass and poured some water into it. He then drank it with his left hand, with all his fingers touching each other while holding the glass. Frank glanced at this from the corner of his eye as he passed by.

"Alright kid. Write down everything about what happened, along with the name, details, and if possible a picture of your father. Mr. Hunt will take this commission" said Frank, swiping all the cash in the counter into a desk.

"Thank you, sir. I will do that. And I have a picture which I will leave" he said.

Frank nodded, and handed him a pen and some paper. The boy started writing immediately. He then handed the filled paper and a photo to Frank, and left. When he was at the door, he turned around, seemingly hesitant. But he then left anyway.

"The kid is a little smart and a little dumb. What have we got?" asked Alvin approaching Frank?

"Stephen Rosier. Owns a grocery store just up north. Seems to be doing shady business out of the store. He maybe got caught up in something he shouldn't have. At least that's the impression I get" said Frank.

"Send someone to verify all this information. Try to get more, and send it to me as soon as possible" said Alvin.

Though he predicted the lack of danger, he would still investigate to make sure he knew details on what was happening before making a move. This was his way of conduct, and coincidentally was the characteristic of the Hunter which he would soon.

"A Hunter never acts unprepared" said Alvin to himself.
