———————————————

A digital interface appeared in front of Maximus' vision, this was the system's main interface that contains his complete personal information and stats. Looking very similar to video games and computer applications back on Earth.

Staring at the interface, he couldn't help but showing an expression of delight. After all, his post-breakthrough stat could be considered good.

Then, Maximus looked at the equipment list, everything listed there was obtained from the system. Both the outfits he currently wore and the crossbow were bought from the shop. The reason he purchased them was that the clothes were more comfortable and stylish to wear than the ones he originally clad in, while the crossbow was simply a perfect weapon for hunting purposes.

On the other hand, the Epic-grade Knight's Crescendo was a magic weapon he got as a part of a basic support package given by the system shortly after he regained his memories. However, Maximus has only ever wielded it whenever he was alone, without anyone else besides him. Because this kind of magic weapon only belongs to the stuff of legend.

In this world, weapons, armors, and artifacts have their own classification, classified based on their quality; Normal, Top, Unique, Epic, and Legendary.

A single Top-grade weapon, although not a magic one, was already hard to come by and difficult to make. According to the system, the most skilled craftsman and blacksmiths who were alive today can only create armaments with grades no higher than Unique, even that they can only succeed after investing so much time, effort, and material.

There wasn't a single weapon, armor, or artifact of Legendary-grade appear in the past one thousand years. Only a few Epic-grade items still exist today and were inherited by several holders, whose names were so famous and resounded throughout the realm.

That's why Maximus never reveal the Knight's Crescendo in front of other people. His current status and power were still not enough to allow himself to display it openly. He does not want to attract unwanted attention or problems. Therefore, he usually replaces the Knight's Crescendo with an old iron sword he borrowed from his mentor when there were people around him. That iron sword was now inside the inventory space.

Afterward, he moved on to the cultivation method and martial arts section.

The same with armaments, cultivation methods, combat skills, and martial arts also have their own quality classification; Common, Bronze, Iron, Silver, and Gold.

Maximus received Gold-rank Thunder Dragon Art also from the basic support package, and the system informed him that it was the most prized cultivation method belongs to a powerful dragon race from another realm. And she also asserted confidently that this cultivation method has no equal in this world.

His original cultivation method was only a Common-grade, not great enough to enable him to reach the peak of cultivation. Although the method was given by his mentor and that man treats it as his family's most precious treasure, Maximus does not have time for any kind of sentiments, he wishes for greater power to protect himself and to achieve his ambition. That's why he had replaced it with the Thunder Dragon Art.

Normally, there would be some negative impacts if someone changed his or her cultivation method with a new one after practicing it for so long. But thanks to the system, those bad consequences will absolutely never fell upon Maximus.

And similar to the cultivation method, his currently-equipped martial art also different from the previous one. A few days after regaining his past life's memories, Maximus went to the open field behind his house and started practicing a martial art he had mastered back on Earth, a habit he always does since he became a soldier. It was then the system suddenly offered him whether he wants to replace the original martial art or not. Of course, he answered yes. Compared to the original art, Maximus was more accustomed to the martial art he brought from Earth.

And he was thoroughly surprised after the system classified the new art as a Silver-rank martial art. But he soon thought the rank was well-deserving.

After all, this so-called Spec Ops Mixed Martial Style was the crystallization of more than decades of perfection, created by combining many different essences from dozens of Earth's martial arts to form a new set of lethal but simple close-range combat movements. It can be utilized to fight in either hand-to-hand or cold weapon battles, and it was specifically catered for the Earth Defense Force's special operation unit, a specialized unit that tends to engage the aliens in close combat.

Maximus shifted his vision to the bottom of the interface and selected the quest section.

There were lots of available quests waiting to be completed, but only a few that can be done quickly.

Maximus shook his head and closed the screen, no use in thinking about it now.

'Ah yes! I still have the rewards from the quest before, I should check those now.'

He quickly accessed the inventory screen and saw the rewards has been put inside.

The first thing he checks was the Iron-rank Swift Tiger Thrust combat skill. One of the perks being a knight-level expert, Maximus was now able to learn combat skills, which would certainly enhance his firepower to a higher degree.

Including this and a Silver-rank combat skill he got from the basic support package, Maximus possessed two combat skills in total. Without any hesitation, he learned both by selecting them.

Unknown bits of knowledge flooded his brain in an instant, just like when he learned the Thunder Dragon Art weeks ago, he somehow can understand and was extremely familiar already with both of the skills' entire contents, he instantly knows how to use them, no need to practice nor does he need some adaptation first.

[Ding! Quest "Learn a Combat Skill" is completed. You received 200 experience points, 5000 System Credit, and 10x (Tier-2) Intermediate Healing Potion as the rewards.]

Welp! Another quest was completed, Maximus received a bunch of rewards again. Experience points and System Credit were always welcome, and those healing potions have a better grade than the cheap potions he bought from the system when he was preparing to travel to this forest. These were all good stuff, he was really satisfied.

The next stuff was a Top-grade steel shield, he directly tries to equip it.

A diamond-shaped shield with pristine metallic gray color materialized on his left hand.

Dong!

Dong!

Maximus knocks his fist on the shield a couple of times. It's really hard and tough, 100% metal.

This was a good shield indeed.

But its appearance was too eye-catching, he can't use it for now. People can easily judge this shield to be really amazing and thereby very expensive. The villagers will be suspicious if he blatantly showing it. Hence, he stored the shield back inside the inventory.

'Let's buy an armor then. I still have 68000 credits, it'll be enough.' Murmured Maximus inwardly.

If someone was to be a knight, then one definitely needs armor.

An armor not only regarded as a tool of protection but also as a proof of status for many knights. After all, not everyone can procure one. And knights, just like most nobles, took great care of their faces. So it's imperative for Maximus to buy armor. He would certainly take part in wars and battles in the future, armor was an essential thing for him to have.

Without further ado, he directly accessed the system's shop.

The shop contains nearly everything useful, ranging from weapons, armors, magical artifacts, cultivation methods, combat skills, martial arts, weapon blueprints, building blueprints, ship blueprints, potions, elixirs, highly-detailed resources maps, various resources or goods production techniques, to food recipes, and many more. Even random miscellaneous stuff such as cigarettes, pens, pencils, writing books, soda cans, beers, and etc. It literally has everything, as if any kind of stuff that exists throughout the multiverses can be found there.

There's even a catalog within the shop filled with a bunch of famed historical and mythical figures from Earth that can be summoned once they've been purchased. It's really crazy!

Unfortunately, the historical and mythical figures catalog was still locked and cannot be accessed. The requirement to unlock it was to obtain a fief first, which was also the requirement to unlock the management function.

As Maximus entered the armor catalog, he saw a huge variety of armor were available there, any types and any styles can be found, from the cheapest that only cost less than 5000 credits to the expensive ones with the price over millions. He finds it hard to choose a suitable one among these thousands of selections.

Maximus was willing to spend between 5000 to 20000 credits, but in this price range, the options were quite many. After scanning for a while, one armor set caught his eyes.

——————

Below the armor's info, there was a 3d preview image of the armor itself that can be rotated and moved as Maximus likes.

It's basically a chain-mail armor mixed with a barbute helmet, some steel plates, and a plain dark surcoat.

This armor has excellent workmanship, superb design, entirely made of high-quality materials, really chic and stylish. And the price was quite affordable. Moreover, it provides some buff as well, along with a negative effect, unfortunately. But 5% decrease of mobility… Maximus thinks he won't lose much due to that, barely noticeable.

'Lingardia? Greysia Realm? It looks like this armor originated from another world, huh.' He wondered.

But that doesn't important. The important was Maximus really liked this armor. And wearing it would not be really out-of-place as this armor still fits well with this kingdom's aesthetic and common sense. Thus even though it's a bit exquisite, it won't attract people's attention by much.

'Alright, I choose this.'

He immediately bought it, and the armor was sent directly to the inventory. 11000 credits gone, just like that. It hurts but kind of necessary. At least, Maximus can use it for a long time without having to buy another one. Even if he wants to buy another armor again, he must buy one with higher grades, and it would certainly costly. So for now, this armor was more than enough.

Maximus tries to equip it…

Soon, Maximus' body was enveloped by a shining light. Next, all of his attires were replaced by the armor's parts, even his head was covered by a helmet.

And yep, the armor really matched well with his body, and it was comfortable enough to wear. 27 kg can be considered heavy for armor, but with Maximus' current cultivation, he does not have any difficulties to easily lift all of that. His overall movement was only restricted minimally, it won't disturb his combat performance in the slightest.

The helmet was layered by a mail coif underneath and it has a T shape slit, his field of view became slightly narrowed from wearing it. But then, he noticed a new mini interface has appeared on the top right corner of his vision, it says "Helmet Transparent Vision" and has On and Off switches.

After Maximus switched it to ON, his vision suddenly widened and clearer, it was as if he's not wearing a helmet at all.

He can only sigh in response to this "accommodation". With this function, his vision would not be affected for a bit even if he wore a full-face helmet. This was really convenient!

Once Maximus felt satisfied enough from checking the armor, he replaced it back with his ordinary attires. He decides to only wear the armor after he became a knight or when facing desperate situations.

Realizing that he doesn't have anything else to check, Maximus walked to a nearby place to fetch his horse.

The horse wasn't exactly his though. It belongs to his mentor, he borrowed it because it was quite a hassle to travel into the forest by walking.

Upon fetching the animal, he quickly rode towards the north…
