6 "Why are you at the Police Station?"

The officer turned me around and handcuffed me, "Katherine Martinez, you are being charged with theft, you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can be used against you in court."

The commotion woke up Hannah and my grandmother. My grandmother ran towards me, "What in the world is going on, unhand my granddaughter this instant."

Hannah chimed in, "Yea, she didn't do anything wrong."

The officer spoke up as my grandmother took up the broom, "Ma'am you need to remain calm."

My grandmother looked like she was about to explode, "Calm down?? You have my granddaughter in handcuffs."

Hayley stepped in, "Mrs. Martinez I'm sorry to intrude at this hour but your grandchild stole my purse."

Her purse?

Oh shit, I thought they were charging me with identity theft and I was so preoccupied with Sebastian I forgot that I was supposed to find Hayley and return it.

"You left your purse on the set and I put it in my bag to return it to you but I completely forgot. My bag is upstairs."

Hayley looked at me with accusing eyes, "Let's go upstairs then."

I led them up the stairs to my room and my face flushed red at the state of my room. I completely forgot that I didn't clean.

They took off my handcuffs and I started searching the room for my handbag. But to my dismay, it wasn't there.

My eyes widened in panic, "It's not here."

Hayley was boiling with anger, "You lost my fucking purse?!"

In my defense, you lost it first and I was sure I brought my bag home with me. I thought back and facepalmed, "I left it at the food court in Faux Tower."

They handcuffed me again. "Hey! I told you where the bag is, why are you cuffing me again?"

"Until the bag is found you will remain in police custody," the gruff officer responded.

I sighed and looked back at my grandmother who they were forced to restrain when she attacked one of the officers with a frying pan, "Don't wait up for me."

I was in jail for the third time in my life and I certainly did not miss the ugly orange jumper I was always forced to put on.  Orange is not a nice color on me.

I stared up into the ceiling from where I lay on the surprisingly comfortable bed. I laid there for a while not really focusing my thoughts on anything when the door to my cell opened.

"Katherine Martinez, we're ready for you now," said a female officer.

The interview room was just like the ones in the movies, I've never been in one before.

But isn't this a bit much for just a purse? She must have had a billion dollars in it or something.

A lady dressed in a smart suit sat in front of me, "Good day ma'am, I am Agent Jackson, the person responsible for your case. I have a few questions to ask you."

She made direct eye contact with me, "It's in your best interest to co-operate."

I still think this is too much for just a stupid purse. I looked away, "Ask whatever you want, I have nothing to hide."

Agent Jackson nodded and took out a notepad, "I should hope so."

"Where were you yesterday?" she questioned.

"I was in Faux Tower."

"Can you provide full details of your day yesterday?" she requested after writing some things down.

I did as she asked but I left out the part where I walked in on Athena and Mr. Faux. It's not important and way too embarrassing.

Her phone rang and she got up, "Excuse me."

She went outside to take the call and I release a sigh, "If they don't find my bag I'm so damn screwed."

Agent Jackson returned to her seat across from me, "We are unable to locate your bag, but you did mention a man named Sebastian. I suggest you give him a call."

She looked seriously at me, "He is your best bet right now." The card he gave me is in my bag.

I think I remember his number but I'm not sure.

I looked at the clock and sighed. It's almost 3 am, he's most likely fast asleep right now.

Agent Jackson led me to the telephone, "You have only one phone call, I'm sorry but that's all I can do."

My trembling fingers hovered over the dial pad. Okay Katie, think back to the time he gave you the card.

I managed to remember the first few numbers, but the last number. I squeezed my eyes tight, "Was the last number a 3 or an 8?" I slapped my forehead, "Come on, remember remember."

I groaned, "Fuck it."

I chose 3 and I got extremely worried after it rang for a long time. My heart picked up speed each second that passed and stopped then resumed beating when the line opened.

"Hello?" answered a young woman.

I was very close to wetting myself before I heard his voice in the background of the call, "Who's calling so late?"

"Can I speak to Sebastian please?" I anxiously requested.

"Who is this?" the woman who I presumed was the girlfriend he mentioned earlier questioned.

I ran my hand through my hair, "It's Katherine. Please give the phone to Sebastian, it's a life or death situation."

"It's someone called Katherine, she said it's important," she said to Sebastian.

"Katie?" Sebastian questioned.

My body overflowed with hope when I heard his voice, "You have my bag right?"

Please say yes, please say yes.

"Yea I do," he responded.

I released a breath of relief, "Thank God, you're a lifesaver. Do you see a Gucci purse in my bag?"

I heard some shuffling, "Hold on, gonna check."

After a minute he got back to me, "Yea there's a Gucci purse in there."

Oh, thank God.

"I'm at Hanson Police Station, I know it's late but could you take it here please," I requested.

"Why are you at the Police Station?" he questioned.

I sighed, "Long story, I'll explain everything when you get here."

"I'll get there as soon as I can," he promised.

Sebastian thankfully didn't take very long to get to the station and I was able to return the purse and was allowed to go home.
