Time Flys

I woke up with the bright sun sitting on my face from my window. I flinched and turned around. I can't believe I forgot to close my curtains last night. I need to learn how to keep them shut. I then heard a knock on the door. "Come in," I answered the knock. A girl with long pink hair and purple-colored eyes opened the door. "Good morning Sir. The young master is downstairs waiting for you."

I nodded and got up. "Thank you, please tell Vincent I will be down in just a moment" the maid nodded at my response and left the room. Once she left, I went to the bathroom and took a shower. I had to look good. Ever since I have been living here with Vincent, I have grown.. attached? If that's the correct word. I love him so much more than a brother. I want to be closer to him and hold him in my arms every night, but... I'm afraid he just sees me as a brother and nothing more. I want to ask him one day to see how it goes. I've learned about love in old books around the mansion. The books were so old that it seemed like Vincent had never even read them.

After my shower, I put on my outfit for the day. Vincent never approves of my clothes when I pick them out. He has very contemporary taste, while I have none. Vincent is the one who makes sure I don't look like a fool. He picks an outfit out for me every night for the next day and has a maid put them in my room while I am asleep. Therefore, I never pick out my own clothes. It's fine with me because it saves me time in the mornings. My outfit looked like a prince's attire at a ball, just without the golden tassels. It was a black and gold outfit. Vincent always told me I look good in black. Once I finished getting dressed, I did my hair and went downstairs to the enormous dining hall. The room has a ceiling full of chandeliers hanging from it. There was a long table, and a tall man sat at the end. I smiled as I sat down on the side of the table, close to the tall, handsome man with white hair and red, ruby eyes. "Good morning, Vincent," I told him. Vincent smiled happily at me and replied, "Good morning, you look amazing in the outfit I picked out," he said in a deeper voice but still sounded smooth and pleasant to listen to. "Thank you, and thank you for picking out such a handsome outfit for me."

Vincent had a slight smirk on his face. "You're welcome. I have good taste, don't I?"

I nodded at his question. "Yes, you do."

Suddenly a man wearing a black suit put our food in front of us and left. The food looked amazing! It looked so good that I just wanted to put it all in my mouth. But then, I glanced at Vincent to see his grim and depressing look. The look he always gives when we eat a meal together. Vincent always had difficulty eating typical food since he drank my blood when we were younger. He drinks my blood to stay healthy and get more energy, but lately, he has been trying to eat human food. I wonder why Vincent is so determined to eat human food. I usually wouldn't mind if he took my blood whenever. Vincent's favorite part was dessert. He could eat that without hesitation. He loves chocolate and anything sweet, but I don't let him eat too much junk food.

"You don't have to force yourself to eat it... You can just drink my blood if you're hungry, " I told him in a soft and kind voice to show him. It was okay to be selfish. Vincent shook at me like he wanted to do what I offered. "Just let me try.." he mumbled and picked up his fork. I shrugged it off and let him do what he wanted. I took a bite of my food and heard coughing and spitting up from Vincent. I looked over at him quickly. "Are you okay!?"

Vincent nodded. "Y...yes.." he wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up. "Please excuse me.." he said as he left the dining hall. Of course, I hated seeing him so depressed and eating alone without him. I got up and left the room to follow him. "Vincent, wait! It doesn't matter if you can't eat human foods anymore. I told you you could have my blood whenever. Please don't starve yourself."

Vincent turned to face me as he was about to head up the stairs. "You don't understand, Sky... I don't want to keep drinking your blood all the time. What if you run out? What if one day... I suck you dry and kill you..?"

I sighed softly as I realized why Vincent was so determined to eat human food. It's funny how he looks and sounds so harsh and intimidating but has such an innocent and sensitive heart. I walked over and pulled him closer to me. "I will not die. I know I am human, and humans are fragile, but I am not planning to leave you for a while. I will stay by your side, just like when we were children. I want to give you my blood because.. you deserve it. You took me in and gave me more food and toys, things I never thought I could have or would ever have. You gave me clothes and a warm bed to sleep in. Giving you my blood is my payment for everything you have done for me. Please let me continue to pay you back for everything in the way I know how to."

Vincent looked speechless as he stared at me in shock, and I pulled him closer. Still, I continued to speak, "If it wasn't for you... I would have probably been dead... or worse... You really changed my life. In fact, you flipped it upside down in a good way. You even made me think of my feelings differently" my mind raced, and I felt stiff. My heart was pounding against my chest. Am I really about to confess to him how I feel?

I am really doing this! I'm about to tell him all the feelings I have saved over the years for him! I am about to let a more sensitive part out of me! B-but I'm a guy.. can guys be together in a relationship? Oh well! I can't just stop now! I'm so close...

"You have been on my mind a lot lately... I-I... I-i" I felt my face heat. I didn't know what was wrong with me. Is this some kind of sickness?

"I...I um... I really like you... B-but! Not as a friend... I-I Love You! I love you a lot," I said the best I could without stuttering. My hand was shaking in nervousness along with the rest of my body.

Vincent's face looked very shocked, and he seemed even more speechless. It was quiet for a moment before he closed his eyes like he was thinking about what had just happened. He opened them once more and pulled away from me. "I decline your offer. We can not be in a relationship, Sky. I hope you can realize that"

He declined..? Is this real? Of course, it is. I can feel my heart sinking. Why do I think so... so.. depressed... So.. sad... All he said was no, it was his choice. Why am I sad..? I can feel myself starting to fight against the tears welling in my eyes. I need to stay calm, but I can't. If I speak now, no words will come out. All I could do was bite down on my lip and nod, pretending that I understood and accepted his answer when I didn't. I instantly ran off, up the stairs, to my room, not wanting to shed any tears in front of him.
