I truly couldn't believe that Alex was that clueless about the men that tried to ask her out over the years. In the time that I had seen her at school, she had turned down at least a dozen men. Men that were good looking, smart, athletic. Men that were genuinely good guys. Men that were actually interested in going out with her. And the truth of the matter had been that she didn't know that they wanted her for her and not some stupid bet or misogynistic desire. They really liked her, but she didn't know it.
