As Zane read through the reports he could still not figure out why the boss wanted this girl.

The property she had seen him about was bought to keep the as a tax shelter so they were going to keep the same rent as the previous owner had.

Zane walked into his boss's office and placed the file on his desk. Sometimes he wished his boss would take the weekend off.

Lillian got up on Saturday morning and made her way to the shower. She felt like the world was weighing her down. She dressed in bluejeans and a yellow top and took Toby out for a walk.

She then packed Toby's bag and headed for the bus.

"Good morning Red, Good morning Toby." said the bus driver.

"Good morning Sam. Looks like its going to be a gloomy day. Forecast call for rain."

"Yah, I've felt it all night. My knees been killing me. Going to be a bad one."

"Hope not for the guys sake. This weather can be bad on the homeless."

She took a seat and Toby laid at her feet.

Twenty minutes later the bus stopped and Toby and her got off. She still had to walk four more blocks to get to Caring Hands and it was already sprinkling. She pulls out her umbrella and puts on Toby's raincoat and hat.

"Looking good Toby" a Man calls out.

"Ain't he a cutie pie." A woman says as she passes them.

Everyone loves Toby and he seems to love everyone. Everywhere he goes people fall in love with him.

It doesn't take long to reach Caring Hand. She opens up so if anyone comes early they can get out of the rain and she starts getting ready for the noon meal. Today is goulash.

She looked at the recipe...

Cook and stir the ground beef in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, breaking the meat up as it cooks, until the meat is no longer pink and has started to brown, about 10 minutes. Skim off excess fat, and stir in the onions and garlic. Cook and stir the meat mixture until the onions are translucent, about 10 more minutes.

Stir water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and seasoned salt into the meat mixture and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir macaroni into the mixture, cover, and simmer over low heat until the pasta is tender, about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, discard bay leaves, and serve.

She made four batches and was ready to serve at noon.

Toby was already out front keeping her guest company.

"Okay everyone, goulash is ready."

One by one Men, Woman, and Childen came up to eat the wonderful smelling food. They were very thankful for this place.

"Hey Red, Marry me and make me your happy husband."

"Gary sorry, Toby is the only man I need."

"He is one lucky dog."

"Well, he doesn't get goulash that is only for you."

"Thanks Red, you and Carrie are the best."

After lunch there is not much food left but she has a small bowl before cleaning up and getting ready for the dinner rush. She looks at the board. Chili and corn bread.

Chili recipe ♡♡

In a large pot over medium-low heat, combine tomatoes, tomato paste, carrot, onion, celery, pepper flakes, bell peppers and steak sauce.

While tomato mixture is simmering, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towels. Cook beef in bacon drippings until brown; drain. Stir chili seasoning into ground beef.

Stir seasoned beef, cumin and bacon into tomato mixture. Continue to simmer until vegetables are tender and flavors are well blended.

Stir in beans, cilantro and parsley. Heat through and serve.

Corn bread ♡♡

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine baking mix, sugar, baking powder and cornmeal. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk and melted butter until creamy. Stir in flour mixture until blended. Fold in frozen corn if using. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Serve warm

She got it all cooked at five pm and she took it out to serve her guest.

It rained all day so she was glad they had a dry place to stay but as 8 o'clock came her heart sank. They could not stay, and Toby and her needed to head home. Nobody blamed her as they headed out the door telling her they would see her tommarow.
