Sudden Turn of Events (1)

What happened? Taken aback, Lin Meirong was shocked to find that she had fallen after Lan Jinyao's slap. 

It was unbearable for Lin Meirong to be subjected to such humiliation in front of the whole crew and Mu Jianyu's wife. Before Lan Jinyao established herself as the female lead of this film, Lin Meirong could be arrogant and demand things from the filming crew without thinking of retribution because she had Mu Jianyu as her backing. 

Now, not only did her assistants leave her one by one because of her reckless behavior, but the filming crew was also fed up with her disrespectful attitude. She was only a second lead but she was more demanding than Zheng Yue, who was a former film empress and Lan Jinyao, the female lead. 

It was no wonder that when they saw Lin Meirong sprawled on the ground, some of them couldn't contain their laughter no matter how hard they tried to suppress it. She acted so high and mighty that she had forgotten her place. Look at how pathetic she is now.

However, to everyone's surprise, Lin Meirong was suddenly crying out in pain as she held her stomach. She curled on the ground, writhing in pain, completely wiping the amusement and laughter from the spectators. 

The male lead was the first one to break from his daze and immediately knelt beside Lin Meirong while Lan Jinyao stood next to them frozen in her place. 

She couldn't understand why Lin Meirong was crying hysterically when she hadn't really slapped her hard. 

Was she just pretending to gain some sympathy? It's normal to get a bad take once in a while, did she really have to pretend that she's in pain to get away with it?

If Lin Meirong was really just pretending then she must be a good actress for her outburst seemed so natural leaving everyone speechless.

"Sister Lin, are you hurt?" The male lead asked in panic. He lifted Lin Meirong from the ground, carrying her bridal style when wetness on her dress made the women gasp at what they'd seen. There, on her skirt, was a blotch of bright bloodstain. 

"It hurts… it hurts…" came Lin Meirong's pitiful sobs, which made Lan Jinyao uncomfortable. She didn't understand what was happening. 

"Go and call the ambulance! What are you waiting for?!" He yelled at the crew as it seemed that they've yet to understand what was happening. When they finally realized that it was a real emergency, they scattered around, trying to find medical help for Lin Meirong. 

"No." Li Xiuying's decisive tone surprised everyone. All eyes were on her as she stood from her seat, "the ambulance would take too long. Su Ling, prepare the car. We will bring Miss Lin to the nearest hospital." She told her bodyguard. 

Su Ling gave her a curt bow and rushed to do his Miss's bidding. 

Lan Jinyao looked at Li Xiuying, noticing the unusual paleness on her face while she looked at Lin Meirong. Li Xiuying looked like she had seen a ghost as she excused herself with tears threatening to burst at any given moment. 

Zheng Yue came when she heard about the commotion and stood next to her niece. 

"What happened? Ying, are you alright?" She also noticed the trembling on her niece's form. When she looked around and saw Lin Meirong, her eyes widened in shock as she noticed the trail of blood on the woman's leg. 

"She's…." Her words trailed off as she saw Li Xiuying shutting her teary eyes close and turned her face away. 

Yes, the only conclusion that can be made after seeing Lin Meirong's condition was that she's pregnant and that she might miscarry. Having gone through it once, Li Xiuying was smart enough to realize what was going on. 

Rage filled Zheng Yue's chest upon realizing the situation. It was all because of that woman again! Why did Ying have to suffer like this? She looked at Lin Meirong with a hostile expression. Although she was late to the scene, anyone with a good head over their shoulder would come up to the same conclusion.

In the end, Zheng Yue had no other choice but to contain her anger and look after her niece who was on the verge of breaking down. At the sound of Li Xiuying's distress, Zheng Yue's mouth couldn't help but turn down. 

Seeing that the situation was getting out of hand, the director stopped the filming and called in for medics to check on Lin Meirong while waiting for Su Ling to come back. They didn't need to wait too long for him to come back and lead the male lead who was still holding Lin Meirong in his arms to leave the set. 

"Miss…" Su Ling didn't know why Li Xiuying took the initiative to help her husband's mistress and wouldn't dare to question her right now. 

"Take her to the nearest hospital. We'll follow you shortly." 

It was Zheng Yue who answered for Li Xiuying. As she held her niece's arm, she led Li Xiuying away from the scene worriedly. This was surely hard to accept for Ying but if it would force her to make a decision, perhaps divorcing Mu Jianyu wouldn't be such a bad thing. 

Su Ling cast a curious gaze to Song Zexi but the latter only shook her head. 

"Go now. I'll stay with Miss Ying," she assured him instead. 

"I-I'll go with you," Lan Jinyao interjected and followed them outside. She wasn't comfortable with this feeling of being guilty of harming Lin Meirong. She wondered if she went overboard with her slap. 

They didn't delay and rushed towards the hospital. The director and a few staff members hurriedly followed them soon after, leaving Li Xiuying with Song Zexi and Zheng Yue at the set.
