3 Training

Asher went into the woods. Getting to a big enough space.

"So what do we start with?" Asher asked.

Elsa sat cross-legged on a rock. "Let's start with being able to output lighting. As a dragon, I used it as my dragon's breath, but when I was in human form, I manipulated it with my body."

"So how do I output it? "

"Visualization and feeling. Now that you have an ability, it also means you have a power core that is pumping Meta through your body. Close your eyes, first try to feel that energy, when you do then visualize them bursting out of a door." Elsa used terms she had picked from his mind, there was nothing like Meta in her lifetime.

Asher followed her instructions, he closed his eyes and began trying to feel the energy. He stood in that position for ten minutes yet nothing happened, but he was not planning to give up soon. An hour passed but he felt nothing, still, he didn't give up, the skies had already gone dark.

Elsa got tired and decided to watch a movie from Asher's memory. While she was watching, she began feeling an energy that she was all too familiar with, looking at Asher, silver bolts of lightning began crackling around his body.

Asher had struggled to get the feeling for one hour, it was after the first hour that he caught a wisp of the energy, and then using visualization he was able to output it.

The silver lightning grew around his body, producing a dazzling light. Soft crackling sounds filled the air, after a minute of producing lightning, Asher stopped and opened his eyes. There was excitement written all over his face, he felt like he was alive for the first time in his life.

"Congratulations." Elsa congratulated him immediately his eyes opened, this was a very fast speed compared to what she knew, it seemed Asher was talented. "It's night already, so I will explain one more thing before we leave." When Asher heard that, his excitement grew.

"Now, after visualizing it, you need to give the output a direction. That is you have to control its direction. You can give it a few tries, though I doubt you will be able to do it too—." Elsa was cut short by a small explosion.

*Boom*

A bolt of lightning hit a tree leaving a deep charred hole in the tree.

"Like that?" Asher asked as he looked at Elsa.

"H-how?" She was shocked by the fact that it had taken him one try to get it. "We are going home." She announced. She was provoked that what had taken her two days to learn when she got her human body, had only taken Asher a minute.

Asher was unhappy with leaving, but he didn't say anything. It was dark out, and he had made some progress already this day was already the greatest in his life.

Reaching home, Asher realized his mum was back, she was in the bathroom taking a shower, so he decided to prepare dinner. He had learned how to cook from his mum, who was an excellent cook. While he cooked, Elsa stood watching him closely, fascinated by the process.

His mum finished her bath, got dressed, and came downstairs, intending to prepare dinner. Walking into the kitchen, she saw that Asher had already made dinner and set the table, he had prepared spaghetti for dinner.

"When did you get home and do all this." She asked in surprise. Asher's mom was quite beautiful, with dark hair just like Asher's.

"Not too long. I figured you would be tired after work, so I decided to give you a hand." Asher said.

"You this kid, you are going to make me feel useless if you start doing my job."

"I am only helping mum, nobody can take your job away, not even myself. You are my one and only."

Elsa watched the two chatting happily, she had a sad smile on her face.

As the two ate, Asher called out to his mum.

"Mum"

"Yes." She looked at Asher, she was immediately shocked. There was silver lightning dancing around his finger.

"When?"

"Today"

Asher's mum began crying, she knew more than anyone the pain Asher went through because he had no genetic aptitude. Asher stood up and went to the other side of the table to comfort his mum.

"Don't worry mum, things will be different from now." He knew how much his mum worked to feed him and keep the house. If he became an elite, things would become much better.

After comforting his mum, he returned to his seat.

"So what are you going to do?" she asked Asher.

"I will join the Elite program."

She nodded, she knew that this was his childhood dream, though she had her apprehensions since his dad died as an Elite, she would not try to stop him because of that.

"Just promise me you won't do anything reckless, and you will always come back."

Asher knew the reason she asked this, and it cut his heart as he thought of the fact that he could not tell his mum that Dad was alive. He thought of not listening to his dad and just telling her, but he decided against it.

After dinner, he attempted to wash the dishes, only to be chased to his room by his mum holding a rolling pin. She didn't want him to do everything himself. Asher felt happy to see his mum smile as she chased him, he didn't want that smile to go away, he would make sure of it.

In his room, Asher spoke to Elsa. "I plan on signing up for the elite program like you already heard at dinner."

"So?" Elsa who was glued to the television screen asked.

"There is one week before the next exams, I want to get stronger before then."

"Well with the speed it took you to learn what I taught you today, I don't think it will be too hard to improve your strength in a week," Elsa spoke, not looking away from the television. She was watching a romance movie called After, which was remade from a movie before the beast apocalypse.

"Also, thank you." As soon as he said it, he covered his ears with his headphones.

Elsa finally looked away from the television. "Thank you too," but Asher never heard those words.
