Ezra

The next day, Asher took the delivery bike and headed to the office, he wanted to quit his job.

On reaching the office, he was informed that the manager wanted to see him. Getting to the manager's office, he knocked on the door.

"Come in." A deep voice spoke from inside the office.

He had only ever entered the office when he came for an interview.

Asher pushed the door and walked in. A man sat behind the black wood desk. Stacks of paper lay in three columns, beside a computer that kept giving rhythmical beeps.

The man wore a black three-piece suit. As soon as Asher stepped in, he raised his head from the document that was in his hands. "A complaint came in that you failed to deliver a package. What happened?"

"I got into an accident."

"Then how are you alive?" The manager yelled.

"It was not very fatal."

"Then why didn't you deliver it?"

"I said I had an accid--."

"Shut the fuck up, that is not a reason." The man slapped a stack of paper, scattering it in anger. "Do you remember how you begged me for this job, you groveled at my feet. Now you want to take my grace for granted." He looked at Asher with disgust.

Asher looked at the manager, his anger spiked, he went up to the manager, and grabbed him by the collar, taking him by surprise. "I quit." He pushed the man back and walked towards the door.

"You stupid boy, you will never survive, you are nothing but trash." The manager roared out insults towards Asher. Asher didn't respond and walked out, he was trying to suppress his rage.

"You could have just killed him, he had a weak gene ability, one attack would have been enough." Elsa said as they walked down the road.

"Things don't work like that here Elsa, I would be arrested and prosecuted for killing a person. Only when I am stronger can I do something like that."

Asher did not even shy away from the idea of killing, he was not delusional, he had seen the cruelty of this world. If push came to shove, he would take a life, especially if his life or his family's life is threatened.

He returned to the place in the woods where he trained yesterday. "So what are you teaching me today?"

"You can output the lightning in a direction, but that is far from having control. You need to be able to control your amount of output, also we need to ascertain your current limit."

"Ok, then what do I do?" He was itching to get started.

"Just as you did yesterday, output your lightning, but don't give it any direction. Keep outputting till you hit a wall, and cannot go higher.

Asher wasted no time, he closed his eyes. Now that he had felt the feel of that energy, he didn't need up to a second before his body started emitting silver lightning.

When he was ready, he increased the output slowly. The sound of the lightning began changing from calm crackles to raging thunder.

The lightning began striking the ground, charring it. He kept increasing his output steadily.

Elsa who was watching was shocked, the amount he was emitting had surpassed the amount she expected. "How is his reserve that big," for someone who didn't have his ability to give out this amount of power was shocking.

Asher kept increasing until he finally ran out of Meta energy. The lightning died down slowly.

Asher fell on his butt, his breath was haggard. The activity has taken all his Meta energy and stamina. While catching his breath he asked. "How was it?"

"You are above the average." Elsa refused to tell him that he smashed her expectations, she didn't want him to get cocky.

"That's great!" Asher was more than happy with the results. If he was above average, it would allow him to begin to catch up with his mates.

"So what is next?"

"Next you catch your breath and restore your energy. You cannot over-exact your body, the lightning is tempering your body but you are still weak.

"Tempering my body?" Asher asked.

"You haven't noticed the changes in your body?"

As he heard her, he took off his shirt and looked at his body. He was never fat nor was he fit either, but now he noticed that his muscles had started taking shape. To him, this was a welcomed development.

Asher took some time to rest, and after that, he was ready for his next training.

"If you can control your lightning to your hands, without shooting it. You can use it as a boxing glove, only it will pack a higher punch.

Asher began attempting it. Unlike the other ones, this one took a little more effort, simple as it seemed. When he got it, he began throwing punches in the air as practice.

Elsa saw that Asher's punches were not proper and his form was off. So she decided to ask. "Have you ever trained in any martial art?"

"No, I haven't."

"As expected. You will need to practice in other to get stronger and use your ability fully. I have a few that I learned and I am sure they will be unique in this place."

"Then let's get started."

"No, remember what I said about over-tasking your body. You have done enough for today let's get home."

"But it's still daytime, and it won't get dark for some hours," Asher complained.

"Not happening, you are the inheritor of my power. So I can't let you just damage your foundation."

When she said that, Asher obeyed and left the woods.

On his way home, Asher was blocked by the boy and his crew from the other day. They circled him with their motorcycles.

Asher tried to walk out of the encirclement, but the boy who had punched him the other day stopped his bike in front of him.

"Ezra, what is it? " This time Asher was not looking at him with fear or any emotion.
