Chapter 4 What, where, when, why?

A gentle fog slow rolled through the mountains as the sun began to rise. The sky shifting through a kaleidoscope of colors as a new day was born. Only one set of eyes watched this daily phenomenon, from the clearing where she lay. Pulling her gaze from the beautiful veiw, Adelith turns it on Alisters sleeping form, having once again taken on his new form, his black fur fluffed against the morning chill, shimmering with dew from the bank of fog that hid the green grass beneath.

As she studied her old friend, her eyes slowly traced over the dark blue image of a wing upon his side. The shimmering design clearly part of him, radiating a sense of mystery.

How did he come upon them?

She had met the male Aleron, once before. She knew near everything there was to know about his kind. No other in the Darklight legacy ever bore such markings, same goes for the mystery of the silver cresents frameing Alisters dark blue-green eyes, the ever present ring of golden fire spekled with silver burning steadily around his pupils.

"What sort of power have you come to grasp this time old friend?" She whispers softly to the sleeping lupin, a gentle tone to her voice as she watched alister for a few more seconds, hoping she hadn't woke him by speaking out loud. scanning the clearing once more, Adelith sighs softly in satisfaction. The ancient runes that ringed her clearing showed no signs of needing replenished as of yet, though likely would later in the day.

Laying her head back down she let her eyes close slowly, withing moments her breathing evened out as she fell into a deep, deep dreamless sleep. As she does, Alister lifts his muzzle from the ground and turns to look at the great drake. a hint of laughter could be seen in his gaze, though the dominate emotion in his gaze was love.

"I don't even know that answer yet." he thought with a shake of his fluffy head, his gaze shifting to the saphire design along his right side.

He didn't know all of his capabilities in this body, but he did recall the memories of were the markings came from. Shortly before his family had been forced to flee, they had broken him out of a fallen angel research facility. In this facility, demons used demonic and angelic energies to merge the DNA of different species, modifying them in hopes of creating more powerful slaves.

He had vague memories of wings manifesting when he consentrated, the markings upon his fur vanishing as they did, only to reappear as he dismissed them. As for the crescents moons framing his eyes? Some how they enhanced his vision, gifting him with the sight of yet another legend, The Lunar Dragon.

Dragons in particular where a rare sight in history of his pack. The most common being the Red dragon, vicious brutes one an all, and territorial to boot. They breathed fire hot enough to melt plate armor, and turn the body inside to ash. They could normally be found living in Volcanos, or volcanic regions. Black and Green dragons were the next species to be known, far fewer sightings, maybe 20 every century.

The black dragon in most stories, are far worse then their Red brethren, but not in this world. They are healers and their word is their bond, their interests magic binds their life to any promise made. They have 2 known abilities, healing light grey flame, and a defensive magic that can summon a pitch black barrier. Those within can clearly see out, yet no being that is below God hood can see within. All within the barrier are granted excelerated healing.

Then comes the Green dragons, friendly as can be, but do to their support abilities, they are hunted merceliously. Armor forged from their scales enhance a sorceress spells and Defence. Their mear presence increases allies fighting speed and grants an instant teleportation ability that can be used once per day for long distance (up too 15 miles) or short distances of a few feet 10 times a day. Their defensive power is the manipulation of plant life, hence their preference of living in forests.

Finally we come to the three rarest dragon species, The Silver, Gold, and White.

I'll start with my favorite of the three, simply because it is the one I know best. The Silver Dragon, of which there is only ever one at a time. This being is legendary even amongst dragons. Upon the death of one, Another is born from the light of first fullmoon, upon the beginning of a new millenia. They are creatures of pure magic, from birth they retain the memories of those before them. The abillities they hold, Shared/omniscient sight, Ancestral memory, And Lunar domain. Shared/omniscient sights power is in its name, they can see threw the eyes of any living creature within a few miles, or let others see threw theirs, and nothing can hid from their sight. Ancestral memory, also obvious. Perfect recall of everything their predecessor's learned since the first of their kind. And finally Lunar Domain, Never anger a silver dragon at night, let alone the night of the fullmoon, or new moon. You will not survive, even God's fear the devastation The Silver Dragon's Lunar flame causes. When the moon is full, their flame takes on a pure silver color as it wanes it grows darker and far more deadly. During the night of the new moon, the pitch black flame can devour a living beings soul. To top it off, they can change size and teleport to any location that is being touched by the light of the moon.

The metallic Gold dragon, only a handful have ever been seen. They are plain and simply hoarders, their power is near perfect defense. They can manipulate the very earth, and every mineral within. erecting walls of diamond at moments notice, summoning waves of gems to push away and crush intruders. But in my eyes the most entertaining, rearrange the labyrinths tunnels that always surrounds their under ground home. It is near immposable to find your way through until you successfully complete 12 challenges prepared for you specifically. How they do so you ask? They can see up to a week into the future, once a day and have perfect recall.

Last but definitely not least, the white dragon. the most numerous of the last three. Though only 10 have been seen throughout my time. Celestial beings if I ever saw one, they manipulate light and fire as easily as breathing, luckily it is next to immposable to anger them. Save for threatening their young, or assisting a demonic being in anything. Should they sense demonic energy upon you or an item in your posession, you will find yourself struck by a colum of white fire, hot enough to incinerate diamond.

Tilting my head back My gaze settles on the stars above. "Yet another mystery to solve. How did the Fallen get their hands on Lunar dragon DNA?" I whisper to myself, eyes shimmering with anticipation.

"Where to begin?"

This final thought echoed in my mind as I rest my head upon my paws before drifting into a deep sleep. My dreams filled with the flapping of wings and scents of my family mixed with the rich metallic scent of their blood.
