Life Of A Card Maker

Originally, I thought I'd live a boring life where I would just work low-paying office jobs until I was found to have the talent for card making. It wasn't a rare talent, but it opened a more worthwhile occupation for me so I took it. Follow me, Frederick Leonheart, as I study at the campus of Burndette Academy by day while making and selling cards by night. The simple and ordinary life of a transmigrator. “Wait, I can enter the world of my cards?” ~~~ Author's note: I know, the isekai part sounds like an add-on but it's important. Why are you writing this alongside another novel and how? I'm writing two novels at a time cuz I love both ideas, and it feels suffocating to only write one novel perpetually for months or years. How I do it? Well, this one is a slice of life in another world so wouldn't this be easy to write? Romance? May be present, if I or you guys deem it right then it shall be. Anyways, if there is romance then it should be based off of my only love so you guys better not be surprised lol. (She's a real cutie, but don't ask about her or I'd probably rant about how good she is).

Creating Cards(Part 2)

"I still can't get used to this beautiful sight…"

After taking a brief moment to take in the void soul plane's splendor, his eyes seemed to turn as sharp as blades. With a wave of his hands, five cards materialized in front of him and seemed to float.

"I set the [Spirit Dust] as the core material, while the other four cards are set as the auxiliary materials".

The [Spirit Dust] card floated towards the center, before releasing a thread of light towards the other four cards. Then each card connected to the other cards as well, forming a spiderweb of light.

"Combine!"

The golden lines on the cards bloomed, before all of them shot straight towards the center. This formed a soul card with an empty face. With a wave of his hand, the card floated towards his left hand.

"Now it's time for the challenging part…"

The tips of his index finger glowed ever so brightly, as he then used it to write on the empty soul card.

'Roland was descended from a family of great Maguses. Just as everyone else in the family did, he had the talent for magic. However, he didn't have a knack for things outside of the theoretical side of magic. Thus, he grew up to be a bookworm. On his 11th birthday, Roland's grandmother gifted him a pair of glasses. She said that it could help him read books better. And that, it did. However, unbeknownst to him, it could do more than just that. After all, even Roland's grandmother had only known that it was used by her own father as a young man. Thus, when Roland was ridiculed at the Osdette's University Of Magic, an unknown power gave Roland the confidence to challenge that person to a duel. Which, he won.'

The final scene in the card's face was of Roland, holding his glasses with his right hand and a view of the sky and the arena.

Low-grade soul cards didn't need to be so concrete, but Eric still wanted to make it as concrete as possible. However, looking at the card's "full" face, he had to stop early.

"Haish… low-grade soul cards really can't be written too detailed. Still, hopefully this is enough".

Click!

After he let the card float on its own, it glowed like a star which blinded Eric for a few moments. Once his vision returned, a satisfied smile bloomed on his face.

"Success! Although, not quite as I expected…"

"Still, it's good enough".

In this world, the quality of cards are judged through its grade. The lower the grade, the worse the item is. However, for a beginner card master like Eric, it was for the better. As beginner card masters or rather, card apprentices could only use cards graded 3 or lower.

Aside from that, a card with a grade like 1½ meant that the card had a much greater potential hidden within. In other words, upon card promotion—the act of upgrading cards, its upgraded variation could be two or more grades higher than it currently is. While normal card promotion could only raise a card's grade by one grade.

"Now that my first card has been made, it's now time to make my actual battle deck".

Countless card concepts formed in Eric's head, as he continued to smile in the void soul plane.

He then started to crazily 'attack' the stack of material cards on his deck. Before long, Eric had made a simple set of cards.

With this set completed, excitement filled Eric's mind so he quickly left the void soul plane to glance at his cards in 'reality'.

Upon entering his 'reality', he reached out and pulled a translucent box from the air.

He then grasped a card before closing his eyes, after a few moments the card glowed before flying inside the box. He did this a few times before all his new cards were inside.

"I'm finally, officially a card master"

Well, Eric was indeed already an official card master before he did all of this. However, he did not place any cards in his [Soul Card Box].

All because he wanted his first cards to be made by him. As for [Card Search: Area], that was just Eric using 'magic tricks' in order to roleplay as a card master. After all, he wanted to release his inner child.

I was busy with my exams, so I couldn't write a lot. Still, I was thinking of the many different ways this could've gone while I was at the exam. And no, I didn't answer poorly.

Note²:

This was supposed to be released yesterday, however I had to help my group mates rush a final project. I didn't have time to properly edit this chapter, so I didn't want to release it early. If you think I should release unedited chapters, please do tell.

Note³:

As you may have noticed, the card information are displayed differently this time. Specifically the card's effects. As this is a novel without any outline, I will be improving upon many things as I go along the way. However, many of these changes are simply minute and won't change the story.
