Myrr

She was one of the most renowned and skilled assassin of all times. It was not her choice, rather it was the only option that life threw at her. Growing up in a loveless and lawless environment, she had no choice but to become strong for the sake of living. But even living has become a burden. The only thing that kept her alive was the resolution of going through what she had started. She found it a great insult that what she took from others would be what burdens her now. She was not guilty of the things that she had done. She only sought to fulfill what her superiors had told her. Constantly brainwashed since childhood, she could not defy orders. She was constantly reminded that those orders and the things that she did were for her own life.

But as time passed, the burden of her sins shackled her and it always came to mind whether she was even worthy to be alive. In the midst of her aimless life, she finally found someone. A reason for her existence. She finally found answers. She no longer aimlessly walked any path given to her. She finally found someone who would call for her name. For the first time in her life she felt warmth. Even though it's a small fire that cannot burn all of her sins, she was happy. She was resolved to change her way of living. she decided to give up everything all for the warmth of her life.

It was an empty dream. A dream that cannot be fulfilled. It was truly heartbreaking, for she was not even given the privilege to dream. All of the blood she spilt and the atrocities she committed became the monster who devoured her.

" I- I'm sorry." A heartwrenching cry, unfamiliar to her emerged from her lips. It was the only thing that she could say. She did not try to make excuses for there are none to make. She was bleeding profusely from the different wounds she has on her body but the pain in her heart is much more painful. It was so painful that her soul was on the verge of breaking into pieces. She could have fought back. She knew she could easily defeat him but she chose to give up. The one thing she thought to be hers has never been hers from the beginning. She now had no more reason left to live.

The man looked down on her. The face who always showed her a warm expression turned icy. The hint of madness from his eyes looked like an abyss trying to imprison her in endless darkness.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry…" these words repeatedly came from her mouth. Only when blood escaped from it did she stopped. Along with her last words were the last beat from her heart.

Silence enveloped the whole area.

" Myrr…" he called for her name one last time.

Plop.

That man kneeled to the ground. Staring at the lifeless body which was his doing, he laughed hysterically that it shook his shoulders. Along with the manic laughter came uncontrollable tears. Simultaneously laughing and shedding tears, he aimed the gun on his head.
