Chapter 12

I laid in bed for hours yet no sleep came to me. I sighed, taking out my phone I turned the light on as I searched for the envelope from Marcus. I sighed, reading it over and again till I felt the faint light from the outside sun. I put the papers away and quickly got up. I freshened myself up and started cooking breakfast. It was around 9 when everyone came out.

"Mother, I am going to work," I said as I came out of the room with the bag, she waved goodbye as I walked to the parking lot. Marcus was waiting in a car.

I got in and he drove. He started the conversation by saying, "You know he survived, right?" My eyebrows rose and my eyes widened, I clenched my jaws asking, "How?" He sighed passing his phone over, "His son happened to have moved in with him that day, so he called the hospital when he noticed his father wasn't feeling well."

I turned to look at him asking, "What did she say?" He flinched before saying, "She told me to bring you to her." I closed my eyes leaning back onto the seat as he continued on the road.

It was a sunny morning but soon it started to shift as clouds began to cover the sun. I got out of the car in the same place we were a few months ago. It was windy weather with a slight chill in the air and I knew why when we walked inside. There weren't many people this time though, I glanced around as we walked down the stairs. I saw her letting out a puff of smoke from her cigar as her eyes stayed closed.

She noticed us immediately as she opened her eyes, "Come here." She said and I walked towards her as she got up. I stood a foot away from her as she raised her hands and they came down to strike me. I clenched my teeth, turning my head back to face her again. She switched the cigar to her other hand taking a puff before lifting the now free left hand to strike the other side. I didn't flinch and just let it happen as I tasted the blood within my mouth, probably from a skin cut against the teeth.

"This pain is for your failure, I want you to go and finish the job, don't leave any evidence, not a thing or person." She whispered the last thing in my ears before stepping away. She reached her hand out for a document that was placed in her hands in an instant by the person who was hiding behind where she was sitting. I took the papers and bag as she passed them to me.

"This is what you have requested as well as information on the boy, finish the job at all costs." She said before walking back to her sofa. I left the room afterward and walked out to the car with Marcus.

He unlocked the doors walking over to the driver's seat. I closed my eyes as he drove the air filled with tension as his eyes tried their best not to linger too long. "Marcus, if you have something to say speak," I said my tone was cold and sharp. "How are you feeling?" He asked a few seconds of confusion. I opened my eyes and took a deep breath in before letting it out.

"I feel angry, upset, and a little excited," I said with a smile at the end. I could tell he was frowning before he even asked, "Excited for what?"
