1 1. Rebirth (1)

My life ended in a cliche way -- death by truck-kun. It wasn't my fault though. I crossed the road at the pedestrian crossing but driver-kun just happened to be dozing off and managed to hit me straight in the ass. Not literally of course.

As I lay in a pool of my own blood, I thought about how shitty this was. I was a fresh college graduate on my way to greatness...kind of, and I had finally saved up enough money to watch my very first NBA game in person. Why did my life have to end so quickly? Dammit.

My ears picked up the sound of sirens but I knew it was too late. Too much blood was lost so there was no chance I could be saved. It was unfortunate but what could I do? My eyelids felt heavy and my breathing slowed down. This was it. This was the end for me. Mom...dad...sorry.

And that is the story of how I died. Right now, I have no idea where I am. One minute I was lying in a pool of blood and the next I wake up to find myself in a white room. The very first thing I noticed is that I was naked and there was this light around me. A sudden voice out of nowhere spoke in a deep tone.

"Dear child, it seems you have died long before your due time."

Um what? "Who are you?"

"I believe humans refer to me as R.O.B. I am here to apologise to you. It was my fault you died and now I wish to compensate you."

Why is this situation getting even more cliche? First I died by a truck, now this ROB guy is saying it was a mistake, what's next? He's gonna reincarnate me or something?

"I am planning to reincarnate you in a world of your choice."

....I'm not even surprised at this point.

"Are you gonna give me wishes or something?" I asked curiously.

"Three wishes. Your choice of world is not included."

Well for the world I want to go to, that's an easy enough choice. There was only one world that I was interested in and that would best suit a basketball fan like me.

"I want to be reincarnated into the anime; Kuroko no Basket."

"Very well. And for your three wishes...?"

Hmm. I need to choose carefully for this. Obviously I'll need some special skills or trait if I want to go against the generation of miracles but what skill exactly is the question. Akashi's emperor eye is definitely an op ability, especially his complete one. Kise's perfect copy is also pretty op but that one puts a lot more strain on the body. Kuroko's quasi emperor eye is also interesting but it still pales in comparison to the complete emperor eye.

"Alright I've decided. For my first wish, I would like to possess the 'complete emperor eye',"

"I understand. What about your second wish?"

"Well I'd like a body that is will grow to be around 6'6ft."

[A/N: 6'6ft or 6'7ft is the average height for an NBA player I believe. I just googled it and those heights came up. Could be wrong though.]

"And lastly, I want to be handsome." Cause why not?

"Your wishes will be granted. I will now begin the transfer. All the best in your new life child."

[Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital ~ February 13th]

On a hospital bed, surrounded by nurses and doctors, a young woman of 22 years painfully gave birth to a child. The woman, who was single with no family, thought about giving up the child for adoption when she found out she was pregnant. Abortion never crossed her mind since she couldn't bare to do that to her child.

However, when she held the baby in her arms and saw his cute little face, any thoughts of adoption left her mind as she immediately felt her heart swell at the sight of him.

"Your name will be Kaito."

Being a single woman in Tokyo with a newborn baby an no permanent job was a difficult thing. Deeming it impossible to live in, the woman - Hana, ended up moving to Yokohama which was about a 50 minute train ride from Tokyo. The housing was cheaper as were utility prices.

[A/N: I am not familiar with Japan. Anything I type is from what I read on google]

Settling down in a small studio apartment, Hana and her newborn Kaito quickly adjusted to life there. Hana managed to get a job at a café whose owners were kind enough to let her bring her baby along. Kaito was incredibly well behaved as well and never cried.

Kaito still retained his memories of his past life and his meeting with R.O.B and understood what was going on around him. Being a 21-year-old inside a baby's body, Kaito had enough control over his emotions and refrained from crying or throwing tantrums. Though they weren't rich, Kaito was happy to be born to such a loving mother.

In the blink of an eye, four years passed and Kaito was now a healthy four-year-old. Still remembering his goal to play basketball and be on the level of the generation of miracles, he began training slowly. Mainly through running around a lot and attempting push-ups every now and then.

His mother was still working at the café but the owner increased her pay-check seeing she was good and dedicated to her job. Kaito started going to kindergarten now since his mother wanted him to get used to other kids. He found it amusing to watch the children around him play and just for fun, took part occasionally in their little games.

These years had gone by smoothly and Kaito was happy at how things were. However, there was one thing he didn't account for and that was the possibility of his mother getting a boyfriend.

Imagine his shock when he spotted his mother chatting happily with a guy the same age as her. It was so obvious there was chemistry between them and having grown a little attached to his mother, Kaito felt protective of her. She was a beautiful woman and has had numerous customers openly flirt with her but the other workers took care of it.

This time was different though and Kaito could see his mother genuinely liked this guy. When the time came for him to meet the man, he went on guard and tried to assess the man's intentions. Possessing the emperor eye made elevated his observational skills which he used to try and see the true face of this person.

What he saw was sincere care and possibly love for his dear mother. This made Kaito feel happy for his mother. He knew she found it difficult to support the two of them with a low paying job and seeing this boyfriend of hers was a good guy, he fully supported the relationship.

And after two years of dating, the two finally tied the knot.

a/n: So yeah, as you can see, the story is different from my old one. Dunno if you'll like this one or if it's any better or worse than the other but....meh.
