Destiny (End)

As Jacob traveled, he asked the bard what brought him there and what kept him alone on the road. The bard looked at him with suspicious and sorrowful eyes. He said he had just lost his adventuring friend, and was heading to the nearest town to pay his respects. He added that there was nothing better than traveling and singing to lift his spirits.

Jacob was completely curious when he heard the news that the adventurer had gotten himself into a great mess and ended up losing his life. He asked with a certain tone of nonchalance about what had happened to cause such misfortune. After all, they were talking about an adventurer, someone who had already gone through a lot in life.

The bard casually answered Jacob's question, saying "It were the werewolves that killed the adventurer!" Jacob was not too surprised and said, "Strange to have so many werewolves.", as if he didn't believe the amount of werewolves lurking in that forest. The bard explained, with a smile on his face, that the forest where the adventurer was staying was infested with werewolves.

After hearing, Jacob was skeptical about this information coming from the bard, since Kant had assured him that there were no werewolves in that forest. With intelligent reflections, Jacob began to suspect the Bard, and asked: "Why did you come to a forest infested with werewolves? Being that you are a bard." He spoke those words with curiosity.

The bard smiled sarcastically at Jacob and replied, "Well, why do you think I'm here? Certainly not to see the beautiful birds and flowers. No, Jacob, I heard sinister stories happening in this forest. There are stories of werewolves roaming the forest - and I came here to see if they were true. Fortunately I found out they were true, and now I'm going back to my tavern and sing songs about the werewolves."

"Pffffff, you're joking, right? Don't tell me you hired that adventurer to protect you, and he ended up dying while protecting you?" Jacob asked while laughing, after all, he had never seen so much selfishness and idiocy in one person before.

The bard nodded in agreement with what Jacob had said. Soon after, in an energetic and curious tone, he said: "But I made a song in respect to that noble adventurer. Do you want to hear it?" This question left Jacob somewhat irritated, and he replied: "No, thank you."

"Huh? Okay..." The Bard replied sadly, after all, he had worked hard to compose that song. So seeing that Jacob didn't want to hear it, made the bard start to doubt his singing and composition skills.

Jacob sighed as he saw the sad face of the bard. He whispered to himself, "This bard is more of a poet of sadness than of joy..." Then, he asked the bard what city he lived in and laughed when he heard the answer, "I live in the Village of Melancholy!"

"Pfffff, did you hear my whisper? I guess you must be a gold class, right?" Jacob asked after noticing the bard had heard his whisper. "Yes, but I don't like to fight. I like to sing and tell stories," the bard replied, regaining his composure.

"Oh? Do you like stories? Hm... How about you tell me a story about an ambitious man?" Jacob asked curiously. The bard reflected on what to answer and after a few seconds, he began to tell:

"Well, there is a story of an extremely ambitious man, named Zebulon. Zebulon was a very intelligent middle-aged man, but he wanted more than destiny had given him. So, he decided he would increase his wealth using every means at his disposal. He began to negotiate and work with big businessmen, making deals with them to make more money. He also started investing in high-risk businesses, believing that his efforts would be rewarded.

Zebulon worked tirelessly, without rest, to achieve his goals. He worked so hard that he was able to reach his goal and become very wealthy. He became so wealthy that even the kings envied him.

However, Zebulon realized that, although he had a lot of money, he was not satisfied. He realized that money was not able to give him what he was really looking for: happiness. So, Zebulon decided that he would now dedicate himself to the pursuit of happiness, and no longer to the pursuit of money."

Jacob was a bit touched by that story, because of Zebulon being similar to him. But he didn't let it show on his face, and asked: "Did Zebulon find happiness?"

"No. He was stabbed to the heart." Bard replied sadly and a cold atmosphere hung over them. "Sigh... That's life, right? We never know when we're going to die." Jacob said trying to take away that cold atmosphere. The bard smiled upon hearing those words and asked: "What is your opinion about death? Do you think it's destiny?"

"We are all destined to die one day, but it is our choice to decide our path until that day arrives. I only believe in the destiny I build for myself." Casually responding, Jacob leaned against the window and admired the scenery. That view gave a feeling of peace, and made him forget all these problems.

The bard became reflective about the words spoken by Jacob. Leaning against the wagon window, he began to ponder the meaning of each uttered word. The bard knew very well that those words, though simple, were permeated by depths and truths. This brought him a strong feeling of serenity and understanding, making the meaning of Jacob's words more evident.

After that conversation, the two of them felt enveloped in an air of luxury, while they enjoyed the beautiful scenery outside the window. The vast green fields inspired a deep tranquility and calm that surrounded them. The journey flowed, the roads crossed through enchanting landscapes that fascinated the two. The silence became more intense, but soon was interrupted by the feeling of peace that could only be felt there...
