9 Jor

Reaching the supply closet, Mark ushered everyone into the room, shutting the door behind him. Lifting his hand to the wall Mark spoke to the spider resting on his shoulder.

"Pick anywhere you feel comfortable to set up, we can go get you food after we rest a bit and I change from these rags." Mark said pointing to his shredded shirt and pants as the spider crawled up the wall.

Turning around, he looked at the little girl with a serious expression. "This is our new roommate, so please be mindful of them."

The little girl nodded her head and said okay. Seeing this, Mark then set his bag down and turned to Rick.

"I got these from the kobolds we killed. They shredded my skin pretty easily so I thought they might be useful." Mark said, as he pulled out hundreds of nails.

Rick picked one up, testing its durability and sharpness. "If I can get a hold of some wood, and some sort of adhesive, I could do something with these."

"Would the custodial or maintenance rooms have it?" Mark asked, thinking over possible locations.

"Probably, but I have no idea where they are, and they most likely have computerized locks." Rick frowned.

"I can handle the locks." Clye said quickly, causing Mark to perk up.

"The locks won't be an issue, so we just need to find a map. I'll check online, but I doubt they mark what we need on the public maps." Mark commented, as he pulled out his phone.

After checking for a while, Mark's suspicions were confirmed. He set the phone down and informed Rick, causing the dwarf to shake his head.

After Rick left, Mark asked the little girl to leave the room while he changed.

Putting on a fresh set of sports wear, Mark opened the door and let her back in before walking up to the spider who was working on its new web.

"We need to come up with a name for you!" Mark said and the spider tilted its head in confusion.

"Well we can't just keep calling you spider, now can we?" Mark chuckled, pulling out his phone and researching about spiders for a while.

After some time, Mark found a fitting name and asked the spider. "How do you feel about Jorōgumo? It's a beautiful spider yōkai in Japanese mythology. We'll call you Jor for short."

Jor seemed to agree to the name change, as the system acknowledged it and changed the name in the party menu.

Settling all the pressing matters, Mark and the little girl hung out for a while. Once Jor finished its web, they left to eat lunch.

Jor surprised everyone at lunch, having a huge appetite for its size.

"What an appetite! Hahaha!" An incubus sitting at the table laughed, shoving some food in his mouth.

Mark nodded as he ate some more of the chicken in front of him. 'I wonder if I can come up with some interesting strategies with Jor...'

Over the course of lunch, Mark pondered and came up with a few ideas.

"Hey Jor can you cover my sword with webs? I want to try using it in battle." Mark asked, as Jor crawled over to the sword and was about to touch it when Mark remembered the taser and stopped it.

"Hold up!" Mark quickly stopped Jor, as he pulled the taser off his character page and motioned to Jor to continue.

Seeing what Mark just did a few heads turned and the people asked about it. "It has to do with my talent." Mark responded with a simple answer.

Everyone nodded, before resuming lunch.

Jor finished the sword and Mark picked it up. He examined it after re-equipping the taser.

Electricity arced over the webs, creating a beautiful effect. The web design was rather intricate for a quick job, causing Mark to be slightly surprised. "Beautiful work Jor, thank you."

"It really is a masterful design." Clye praised.

After lunch, Mark walked over to the logistics team captain, Ruby.

"Hey Ruby, I need to talk to you." Mark waved as he walked up to the busy Kapre.

Kapres were a new species to Mark. Ruby was very tall, being around six and a half feet, she was very hairy on her limbs, had large hands and feet, and a unique fragrance he had never smelled before.

"What's up Mark?" Ruby asked turning to him.

"I came to the realization today that we are eventually going to have to start eating the monsters when our food runs out. I wanted to talk to you about that and decide on whether we should bring more fridges over for storage of meat once we get to that point." Mark looked at their one fridge from the restaurant that was full with all the supplies they had scavenged the day prior.

"I think we need to talk about the act of eating them in general." Ruby frowned, understanding where he was coming from but finding it distasteful all the same.

"I get it, and we can have that conversation with everyone, I just want you to understand that eventually it will happen whether we like it or not. There's only so much food in here and perishables will go bad fast." Mark explained, rubbing his eyes to relieve some stress.

"I'll get some people to take the fridges from the restaurant nearby then." Ruby sighed and told Mark.

"Ah! I cleared all the kobolds from another nearby restaurant so we can get that one too, as well as any food they didn't eat." Mark told her.

"Alright." She confirmed, turning around to handle the new matters.

"Time to go back out it seems." Mark sighed, looking to Jor as he walked out of the terminal, a new mission on hand.

Heading into the main area, Mark took a right turn and headed to terminal three. It was the closest to him right now, and he planned to kill off all the monsters on the way. He had a lot more confidence in group fights now that he had Jor with him.

Looking around he found his first target; after inspecting it a devilish grin grew on Mark's face as he walked over confidently, battle intent clear in his eyes.
