1 Two Friends

Ian looked out of the window. Being next to the window makes him feel like an anime protagonist though don't hope he will ever say it out loud.

He had only moved to the school, the reason for the moving is because his parents had moved for work, but with their workplace being overseas, they sent him to a prestigious school with a dormitory system.

Unfortunately, the seating arrangement made him sit close to several people who would lose an intelligence-based competition to a bunch of rats, showing how much 'acknowledgment' of their intelligence he had.

"Hey, look like the nerd is busy daydreaming!" Bully 1 (he did not know or have the desire to remember the nuisance names) called out.

"What, busy daydreaming of your non-existent girlfriend," Bully 2 insulted him.

He pretended they did not exist as he did not want to make them bother him even more. Yet, his action, or lack thereof seemed to set them off as Bully 3 grabbed him by the collar.

"Looks like this one wants a knuckle sandwich," Bully 3 clenched his fist and ready to punch the light out of him.

But before his fist could land on his face, someone grabbed Bully 3 fist. The bully turned to look at the person who dared to do such a thing only to freeze.

After all, that would be the reaction of everyone else when the 'ultimate jock', or so he called in school, grabbed their fist while giving a genial smile that did not reach his eyes.

"I did not expect to see someone bullying others this early in the morning," before the bully could defend himself, the jock continued, "Especially one that dared to bully my best friend," the declaration caused the entire class to freeze, clear shock on their face.

The only one that moved was Ian, who facepalmed. "So, I should return the favor," he dragged the bully to a corner before pulling his fist and punching the bully, except he did not hit the bully, just hitting the space next to his head.

Yet, the bully could feel the air from the force of the punch, the sheer might making him piss himself. "Next time, do not bully others," the jock said as he lightly pat the bully's shoulder.

Leaving the bully, the jock walked towards Ian before giving the bespectacled boy a bear hug.

"My man! I never thought you would move to this school!" Ian would have said something but currently, but his air pathway was currently blocked by the bigger boy.

"Y-you b-big o-oaf, r-release m-me!" he stuttered, making the boy realize his mistake as he released the smaller boy from the devastating hug.

"Sorry, I'm just excited to see you again, man!" the jock said apologetically.

"Seriously Kell, that is the reason why I did not tell you anything," Ian shook his head.

'And I want to surprise you, you big oaf,' he thought but do not expect him to say it out loud.

"Alright, but we have to talk during recess," Kell said, right before the teacher entered the classroom.

"Wake up!" Ian was woken up rudely by a loud voice, one that came from his current Math teacher.

"I know you are a new student but that did not excuse you for sleeping in class," receiving a lecture this early in the morning is not something he wanted but here he is.

"Considering how you dare to sleep in class, solve the problem on the whiteboard," the teacher ordered.

Ian walked to the front of the class, stretching his body before solving the problem in mere seconds before giving the marker to the teacher, but not before saying something.

"Please make the problems harder, then I might be more interested in staying awake," after saying that, he returned to his seat before continuing his nap.

The teacher looked at the solved problem before rubbing his eyes, trying to see if he was mistaken. When the numbers remained the same, the teacher gave the sleeping boy a complicated look.

"His answer is correct," the announcement caused the entire classroom to explode.

Currently, both Ian and Kell were called to the teacher's office. The culprit, the Math teacher looked at them with a stern look.

"I am calling you here because I want to know the reason for you sleeping in my class. While I could forgive it for the first time, you have been doing this every day this week. So tell, me, what makes you so sleepy, especially when the curfew is set at midnight,"

"Teach, the reason for that is simple. Namely, he did not sleep during the night," Kell told the teacher.

"And do tell the reason why he did not sleep?"

"Well, he spend the night reading the textbooks and some other stuffs that I did not have the IQ necessary to understand," the jock answered.

The teacher looked at the bigger boy in surprise, "He did that?"

"Yep, but he already finished the textbook the first day. For all subjects. That is why he spent the night reading those books, saying something about 'I cannot read during class,' or something similar," Kell elaborate his word.

The teacher looked at the other boy before taking a question sheet meant for the finals. "Finish this,"

Ian accepted it before taking his pen and began writing. It took him half an hour before he finished. The teacher accepted and then began to mark the answer.

When he finished, he looked at the smaller boy in shock, "H-how?" the answer sheet in the teacher's hand was marked, and no answers were wrong.

"The test is too easy. I do not want to be bothered by something I already know so I just sleep during the class," Ian replied, making the teacher look at him in shock.

"And before you go on a spiel of how I am a genius, I already get that from everyone I meet. And I will say the same thing. I am not interested in getting to college or university so early.

I prefer to spend my time in a normal high school, prestige aside. So, I could weigh my options on which path I would like to take. So, I do hope you will not force me to take a path I would not want to take yet," he told the teacher.

"I understand," surprisingly, the man seemed to be understanding. "But, I will tell the other teachers," when Ian was about to open his mouth, the teacher interjected, "This is so you can read during the day instead of at night. That is my sole condition if you want to be allowed to do something that does not bore you,"

Ian gave it a thought before nodding, "OK teacher. May we take our leave?" he asked.

"Sure, do not cause any trouble," the two give a quick "yes," before leaving his office.

The Math teacher leaned on his chair,

."A prodigy in every sport and a genius in academics. How on earth did those two meet?"
