PROLOGUE

College was about to start but I wasn't going to attend it here with my friends because we had to move to New York due to moms job .

It's not like that I am against it but it's always like this we have to move places every two years it's not easy for me I always have to leave my life my friends behind and start a new life at a place I'm unaware of but she always says that it's the last time but it's never the same and I have no choice but to agree with her because I love her and she is the only family I have and I can't let her down .

So we had to leave at this weekend and we already had packed ur stuff and we left for New York on Saturday .

To be honest I was really excited because New York is a place of dreams and it's a beautiful place even if we live there for sometime I would try my best to enjoy my time there .

After several hours of our flight we finally reached the airport of Yew York and I must say it was a really busy place filled thousands of people running here and there with their stuff .

So we booked out cab and after some time we finally arrived at our house .

To be honest it was nothing like my imagination the house was a big mansion and it was really beautiful from the outside and it even got better as we moved inside it looked like the house had been designed by one of the best interior designers in the world .

When I looked at mom with shock she simply smiled at me and I got the idea that she was promoted at a good post this time and we were rich now but that didn't matter to me much because it was only the two of us even if it was a small house I would have never minded but the best part about that house was that it had a big swimming pool at the back and a big lawn in the front and a library next to the living room and my room was specially designed with the best furniture .

( Ohh sorry did I forget to tell my name huh my name is Max well that's what my mom calls me my real name is Zain Maxwell .

So this is the start of my new life in a new city where I am unaware of all the difficulties that I am going face in the future but some time a change in life is good for us ) .

So after resting for some time we started to unpack ur stuff it took us only few hours because the house was already furnished and we only brought important things .

In the evening mom ordered dinner and after dinner I went out for some fresh air and to discover my hometown and after walking in the lane of ur colony for some time I finally came across a market and it was huge and the place was sparkling with beautiful lights and it was a really busy place filled with people rushing everywhere .

But this site of city filled my heart with delight at least this place was not quiet as my previous hometown .

I went inside to explore it myself and it had more then 20 shops there .

I kept roaming there for some time until I realized that I was lost in the place I was so lost in my thoughts that I forgot about time and I had no idea where I was .

Suddenly my phone started to ring it was moms call i picked it up and answered hesitantly .

And from my voice she could tell that I was panicked.

Are you okay Max w-where are you asked mom with a worried voice .

I'm fine mom no need to worry I think I'm lost but don't worry I'll ask someone here for directions I replied quickly .

O-ohh okay dear I'll be waiting for you she replied with a sigh .

Okay mom I'll hang up the phone .

There I saw a women coming out of a store as I went closer she hesitated and didn't reply to my question and just went the other direction .

( That's strange ) I only asked her for directions .

Then I saw an old man passing by I went towards him and asked for directions.

He looked really shocked to see me but didn't reply .

( Did I say something wrong ) So I asked him again but gently this time .

Ohh are you lost my lad asked the old man gently .

Yes grandpa sorry to disturb you but I'm new here and don't know much about the places here .

No worries my lad I'll guide you but before I have to cross this road he said with a low voice .

Ohh I'll help you cross the road .

His face lit up hearing that .

So I helped him cross the road and he helped me find my way home and to my surprise he lived few blocks across the plane of my colony .

So it looks like we are neighbours he said with a big smile on his face .

Thankyou so much grandpa for your guidance I replied with a faint smile on my face .

So it's farewell see you around my lad them he left for his house .

You too grandpa then I went inside my mom was standing in the entrance of the house waiting for me and as soon as she saw me her face lit up and she quickly rushed to hug me .

I'm totally fine mom no need to worry .

She sighed and then took me by my hand inside to the living room and started a conversation it had been a long time since we talked this long before because she was always busy with her work and had less time for me .

I know it must be hard for you Max but you know my condition due to my work we had to travel to New York I'm really sorry but I promise you that this is the last time .

Now I'm officially promoted as assistant manager and I don't think that there would be any more requirements for me to travel to another place for work I already have consulted my boss she said with a sound of relief .

Well that sounds nice if we will stay here longer I'm glad that your hard work finally paid off and don't worry mom your work never troubled me or my studies it's just that it's difficult for me to adjust in a new place .

Ohh honey don't worry I'm sure this is the last time and you'll have a good time here it's New York come on its going to be fun and I have enrolled you to a private school I'm sure you'll love it there she said with a bright smile .

Then after a long conversation we finally went to ur rooms and went to sleep .
