2 Reincarnation

2007 Pennsylvania:

"My head really hurts…."

This was Leylin's first thought upon waking up. It felt as if there was a cut on his head, hurting so badly that it seemed as if his head was about to split open.

He sat up straight and looked around, it looked like he was in a lavish bedroom on a king-sized bed. The pain seemed to clear up as his memories returned. He remembered who he was in this world. He stared around his room as his senses returned.

The room was big but did not feel empty, nor did it feel cramped. It was neat and organized with a sofa and table on one end followed by a desk on the opposite wall, and finally his bed on the wall opposite to the main double doors.

The main door opened and a man dressed as a butler entered the room.

"It would seem the young master is awake," he said, " I will inform the Lord at once."

"Thank you, Sebastian," Leylin replied, "What happened? All I remember is sitting at my desk doing some work?"

"There was a lightning strike, sir. It somehow traveled all the way from the roof to the table because of internal wiring. You have been unconscious for around an hour, sir. The doctor suggests you rest for the day."

"I see, thank you, Sebastian, tell father I'm fine, I shall follow Dr. Malcolm's suggestion then, please just send dinner around 9. Leylin replied. He had known the doctor his whole life and could attest to his knowledge, having discussed medicine with him on length. "Also, tell mother I am going to sleep again and not to fret too much; I feel fine."

"As you say, Young Master Leylin," He replied and left, closing the door behind him.

"So it worked" Leylin remembered why he was here. He was not the original Leylin, having already ascended to the 9th Rank, but a subpart of his soul. Many such souls were sent through space to different worlds. They were the last resort in case ascending to the 9th rank was a failure or if something else happened.

Now here he was in a world the original Leylin knew to have no magi except for a few anomalies somehow connected to the world's will.

Hence he was given minimal powers as while there were anomalies connected to the world's will, they possessed little threat to a magus. He was not given any magus powers, as it would alert the world's will of his presence and could not train in them as well.

Being a warlock was out as well as it too required spirit force which the world would detect and expel.

Now while he thought of how he could control the world's will, he gave up that idea in the end. He no longer had a purpose, the main body had ascended and he was no longer needed, he might as well enjoy his time in the world. This world seemed like one the lord of original sin would fit right in.

Here he was, Leylin Franklin; it seemed that the name would never leave him. He was a nobility in the Holy Brittanian Empire, the leading power of the world.

Descended from Benjamin Franklin, the Revolutionary who turned tale for a title. His family were Earls having a sizable control over everything north of Pennsylvania, including New York and Boston.

With the capital, Pendragon, being moved to California in the 19th Century, most of the nobles had moved west as well. This, along with souring relations between Brittania and the E.U., led to a huge drop in trade along the Atlantic. Meanwhile, new Areas were added, and families supporting the crown were given bigger territories there.

This led to the Franklins controlling most of North-Eastern America thanks to their support of the monarchy mixed with their hesitance to leave the mainland. While New York and Boston were not the ports they once were, the cities were still some of the largest in Area 1 and provided substantial wealth to the family.

Leylin was born to this family 17 years ago, carrying the Franklin name and being the only heir to their estate. He had received an education in all fields necessary for success in politics and was mediocre at that. He did not excel in politics, neither was he a simple fool, yet he showed a plain facade of normalcy almost boring to look at.

He was going to have to change that, he decided. It does not matter if he no longer pursued eternity, but power was never unwelcome and he knew just where to find it.
