4 Planning for the Future

"Good morning Father, Mother," Leylin greeted as he came into the room.

"Leylin, how are you feeling? I was so worried about you." His mother, Angelina asked.

"I am a perfectly fine mother. Nothing seems wrong, it was just a scare nothing more"

"Good, now I know this might not be the best time but I think now is better a time than any" His father Darius said.

"What path do you wish to pursue after this? You will graduate next year and you still haven't decided on anything. You know I want you to get some experience with managing the family estate but I want to hear from you."

This was something Leylin had spent quite a lot of last year thinking about. The world was already at war. Britannia did not conceal its want for the Pacific and Africa, while the EU wanted more control over Russia and the Chinese Federation was busy with Eunuchs scheming against the Emperor.

In such situations, the best way to proceed was obvious.

"I wish to join the Military"

In times of war, it's always the military that has the largest responsibility yet also the best opportunities.

"What!! Absolutely not, do you realize the situation Britannia is in right now!" His father thundered.

"Now now, no need to be so emotional, I'm sure Leylin has his reasons, soo pls do share them" His mother replied with a glint in her eyes.

"I won't be joining as an enlisted officer, of course, I wish to join as an officer. While still risky it is the best way to climb the ranks"

"And you think that's a problem? We might be Earls in name but our lands are better than many Marquises, what power do you speak of."

"It is simple father, Britannia is a military state, while we have great lands and money and can easily get a lot of swing in the bureaucracy, we have little say in military matters. I hope to fix that and with the war on the horizon opportunities would be ample."

"Along with it come the opportunity to die, son" his father replied gravely. "But I know I won't be able to convince you. Still, you will have to go to Military school after this if you wish to join the army, do you have any thoughts?"

"I thought Westpoint would be obvious" Leylin replied with a smirk.

"Haah, I don't know many people there, so it might be slightly difficult," his father said, "It might be in our territory but it is military land and we have little to no control over it"

"Youth" his father muttered and continued with his breakfast.

After having breakfast and doing some more research into the military, Leylin went outside to the gymnasium.

While the place usually had a trainer, Leylin had sent him out as he wanted the place to himself.

"Show me this body's stats," Leylin said.
