"Here are your essences Miss" the merchant says while handing me 5 shiny purple marbles The merchant says

I was surprised when the mysterious merchant gave me my 5 essences since this new world is filled with people willing to do anything for that little bit of an advantage. I was glad to see that not everyone was like that, but this guy also made me scared since he was strong enough not to care much about these essences.

While I was spacing out everyone started crowding in front of the merchant in hopes of getting some of his essences, I also saw some people from the other survivor group come and join in and try to get some essences, which I would have been surprised by, but their leader does not look like the type of guy to care about the people under him.

"Single file everyone! SINGLE FILE!" The merchant yelled out, and everyone eventually got in a single file with some pushing and shoving, he didn't really seem to care about it though.

I on the other hand stored three of my essences and gave two to my co-team leader, Akari Shizumu so that she would have fifty.

"Kanae, are you really going to let our team use their points like this, what if cute clothes get introduced into the shop, what're they gonna do?!" Akari half-jokingly while still trying to get my reasoning, I decided to let her in on my thought process.

"It's a good trade-off we get to keep more men since some might die if we fight the monsters, while we do lose points we get to have more manpower which I think is more important." I answer her question properly and she nods in understanding but some shouting brings us out of our growing conversation.

"Don't fret if you can't afford anymore, you can still sell items and stats for points!" the merchant says.

'He keeps his word, but he is still not much better than other scammers' I thought

Other people who did not approach him at first looked like they had finally found hope and some lackey's to get their items sold. While I was looking around I realized that the purple-haired guy was no longer there.

(POV change back to MC)

Business is booming, everything was going pretty smoothly, except for the person who thinks there was slick and is trying to sneak up on me. I decide to do something about it since I think the public need to see that I am not just a merchant but also someone not to be trifled with.

"Sadly, I will have to take a small break from selling essences" I say, and I see some faces get pale thinking that I had run out and they do not have enough essences, so I tried to calm them down.

"Don't worry I have essences I just have to make an example out of someone" I say pretty cheerfully though some people still got scared well can't win them all.

I dash over to where the little snake that was hiding was and grab him by the shirt and bring him back, he was able to react but he could not move in the time since I was going so fast. I came back and held him so he was facing the line and my back was facing the line.

"This guy thought he was slick hiding, waiting for me to bring out more essences thinking that he could steal from me." I shoved him up into the air more and he started violently lashing out and screaming.

"NO! I WAS JUST WAITING FOR EVERYTHING TO FINISH SO WE COULD KEEP GOING!" I yelled while panicking.

In response to his dishonesty, I took out my Well-Sharpened Sword and sliced his calves off leading to screaming even more, but it wasn't anything intelligible. I wait a bit for him to calm down and put my sword away then slap him lightly on the face.

"Hey! Hey! Did you plan to kill me?" I ask with the most obvious venom ever. The purple-haired man still took a bit to respond and before he did he let loose a big smile.

"Yeah. I did try, what are you gonna do? Kill me? You-Krgh!–Krgh!- will turn everyone here against you." He says while coughing like he already won.

'You stupid ass, why did you say your plan in front of everyone?' I thought as I looked at him confused.

I took back out my sword and cut his head off while turning around in one swift motion

"That is what will happen if you try to disturb my sales, now let's continue!" I say while going back to my lineup of eager customers, most don't seem to be fazed by that guy's death some even look happy, why?

After a while, I seem to have depleted this group's points and take my leave not before leaving a few parting words.

"Don't fret I will be stationed in front of the portal when it opens, you can save up points till then." I say as I leave the group.

I then by group by group normally it was just a small group that didn't trust me enough to buy from me but sometimes I'd find groups that would buy some, I would also find the occasional group that already knew of me being in the area. I continued this journey until it was about time the portal opened. I quickly found out where it was and set up shop, by that I mean I set up a circle and sat down near the glowing purple mass.

(POV change to Kanae)

I was leading my team to the portal it was successful we did find the portal but that is not the problem, the problem is that the scammer is back in front of the portal like he said he would. Sadly, we might have to buy into his scam since we are down 15 essences exactly.

He pretends to not notice my large group, which got larger thanks to him killing the leader of the previous group my group was able to benefit and take the people who have 50 essences. We got closer and closer to the portal when the scammer spoke up.

"Miss. First Customer, would you like to buy some more essences?" He asks me with fake politeness

"Only if you will give me a discount." I say kind of as a joke since I do need his services, but a discount would be better.

"I'll give you a discount for sure!" he says, and I was excited until he started talking again. "But! You'll have to pay extra since I'm giving you a discount"

'Does that even make sense, well I guess no easy essences' I think as I get closer to him. I was a little scared after the incident, but I realized that the purpled-haired guy was probably in the wrong since he didn't do anything else unprovoked. I go forward after steeling my resolve and ask for some essence.

"I would like 15 essences please" I say while entering his circle and putting my hand up to shake. He immediately takes it and I see my points disappear so my team can be stronger.

(POV change to MC)

A while after making the sale with the so-called 'First Customer' another group comes that has heard of me and my supposed presents here, they raise any fits and keep it clean and buy some essences, really model customers.

I look at the tutorial window to see how much time was left in the 3rd tutorial and how many more essences I had left.

{Essence: 1,057/50}

Man! I gotta sell quicker, I look around and see a lot of desperate people. I decide to put a sale on my essences.

"I am going to go on sale! Half-No- 75% off! Don't forget you can sell items and stats!" I yell out hoping that it brings a large group of people out of their stupors. It seemed to work as many people's hope returned and they started running over here or fiddling with their interfaces to call lackey's over.
