The System, Part 1

I got up from the ground and looked at Orcus with my bloody nose.

"If this was passing, I'd rather fail."

With all seriousness, Orcus spoke in his deep voice,

"If you would have failed, I would have killed you."

He paused for a second, and continued speaking, "Now sit down and listen well."

I followed his command while wiping my bloody nose. I took the support of the wall and sat down with my legs straightened.

While standing, the orc continued, "I assessed your strengths and your weaknesses. If I were to fight you without mana, I'd lose. So far, what I could tell is that you have the [Red Shadow] and an excessive amount of strength bestowed upon you by the Evil God. Your battle movements are well off too. But the only problem I saw in you, was that you couldn't fight well against mana."

"The [Red Shadow]? What do you know of it?"

The orc replied, "You don't even know of your own skills? All you have to do is ask the system for all the details."

Hearing this, I spoke, "System display all details."

[Command understood.]

Orcus continued, "Now you must be seeing the main screen. Your status points denote the number of beings you have killed. You can invest your status points in two ways; one, you can increase your potential/limit. Two, you can increase your stat directly. Think carefully, and then invest in them when you get time.

Your skills will be shown on the screen as well. Some skills will require your permission to activate them, and some would be active forever. The skills that require your permission are called active skills and the ones that don't are called passive skills. By clicking on any skill you'll be able to view their details.

I'll leave you alone for a while. Get accustomed to the system."

Orcus walked outside the room through the wall that was broken. I followed his instructions, and clicked on the skills and titles one by one. Separate screens popped up and described details about that particular skill or title.

[Red Shadow] (Active Skill) <active>

A red aura surrounds the user which enhances strength 4 fold and reduces friction in between muscles and tendons. The user can travel through shadows. The user's eyes glow red if skill [Rage] is used simultaneously. The user's eyes glow orange if skill [Speed] is used. The user's eyes glow blue if skill [Night Demon] is used. Effectiveness of [Red Shadow] is increased two times when eyes glow.

[Warrior's Strength] (Passive Skill)

Increases strength when HP is critical.

Skill Requirement: Killing over 100 beings consecutively without the use of MP.

Skill Requirement: Any one stat should be 10,000 or above.

The user's strength doubles. Stamina temporarily increases.

Skill Requirement: Anger must consume the user to such a point, that the user develops bloodlust.

User has the ability to announce a goblin as a king. Using item [Goblin King's Crown] can upgrade goblin into a goblin king.

Title Requirement: Owning the crown of a goblin king.

Title adjusts user to the surroundings of another dimension.

Skill Requirement: Travelling through 50 portals.

After looking through each and every skill, I put all my status points into STR, to get one step closer to unlocking the missing piece of information. After doing that, I healed myself and got up on my feet.

A lot of things in these screens displayed in front of me didn't make sense. How could I use the skill [Heal] without completing the requirement? How did the system measure the amount of people I killed? When did the system assign these skills? Why was I obeying Orcus's orders?

With uncountable questions still surfing through my mind, I stepped outside to clarify my doubts through Orcus's guidance.
