The Goblin Champion

After checking my status, it was apparent I would soon reach the state of Godhood, but I could wait in a corner. Since I was presumably, the only professional fighter on Earth, I couldn't wait and waste more time. I turned around and walked forward. Meanwhile, I could sense the fear in the goblins of the other two passages. They had refused to face me after seeing what I had done. Nonetheless, I had no intention to sit back and kill each and every one of them. With a steady pace, and no goblins in the way, I soon met with a hobgoblin.

Instead of the fundamental colour green, hobgoblins were slightly darker in complexion. This hobgoblin however, was red. Red goblins were rare and this colour denoted their proficiency with STR. The same rule applied for ogres.

As the hobgoblin ran to throw a punch, I shielded myself by locking my daggers onto one another in the form of a X (cross). The goblin withdrew his hand and kicked me in the gut before I could counter it. I was pushed back by a few centimetres.

Blood spilt out of my mouth. I wiped it with my right hand and smiled as I looked at the hobgoblin. "Killing you will be fun."

As the hobgoblin attempted to throw out a jab with his left hand, I twisted my hip to my left to dodge it.

(Pay attention to the lefts and rights to visualise the scenario better. In some situations, I'll refer to the monster, and in some, I'll refer to Zaros's point of view.)

Before the hobgoblin could retract his hand to maintain his balance, I stabbed him with the two daggers in his chest. The hobgoblin grunted and tried to punch with his right hand this time, but the speed of the punch was much slower. I bent down, and rolled forward to dodge it. Now, I was situated behind the hobgoblin. Before it could turn, while standing opposite to the hobgoblin, I kicked his calf to make his fall. The hobgoblin knelt down because of the force of the kick. I moved my left leg back and then I turned my upper body 180 degrees to dish out a hard right jab at the back of the hobgoblins head. The hobgoblin fell on the daggers, the tips of the blades stuck out of his corpse.

I advanced forward without a weapon and reached a room. The passageway ended. The room was big enough for me to freely use my sword. However, my advantage soon shattered in significance, as I witnessed the sight of a goblin champion.

Other than the goblin champion, the entire room was empty. I could face the champion with constant, fast and precise movements. The only problem was that the goblin champion was too big. Making a significant impact on him with my sword was nearly impossible and if I cut too deep, I could lose my sword in its flesh, and without my sword, my strength would be nearly halved.

The goblin champion roared as it looked at me. It had a huge wooden club in its right hand. Looking at the goblin champion, I remembered the only other time I had faced one of his kind. I had faced such a monster in a group long ago with level 2 heroes. Many of us died that day, and only three survived. Some of us in the group had to sacrifice themselves to kill the goblin champion and only then, were we successful.

I realised that facing this monster meant taking the risks, but this risk, was one I was willing to take.

The goblin champion swung its club around the air to assert his dominance. When it stopped, I rushed to cut its leg. Before I could close the distance, the champion swung his club once again. To prevent taking the damage, I leapt forward and fell on the ground. The club swung above me with a large force. I could feel the wind generated by the club, pass through my armour. Before I got up, the goblin champion used the inertia of the swing to try and crush my body. I rolled on the ground and prevented the fatal blow. I tried getting up on my feet before he could land a hit, but I failed. The goblin champion had crushed my body into bits. I could hear my own bones breaking. I puked blood as I lied there, helpless. I tried to drag my body, but the goblin champion picked me up from my legs, and started to smash my body endlessly on the ground.

The goblin champion stopped and roared. I could no longer move. And just when I had lost all hope, my bones healed, my strength returned, and my HP was completely filled.

[Bonus Buff under effect.]

[Temporary Buff obtained from ???]

Whoever was helping me from the distance, was clearly a level 3 healer or above. But I was uncertain of who was helping me.

Either way; I had a task to complete. I stood up once again. The goblin champion swung his club once more, and I dodged it just as before; I fell to the ground. The goblin champion then tried to crush me once again. However, unlike before, I decided to face the blow. I turned around so my stomach faced the club.

The club struck hard as it broke my rib cage. Before the goblin champion withdrew his club, I latched on to it. The goblin champion tried to crush my body once again, but I managed to climb till his arm before that. Before the goblin champion could move, I used his arm as leverage, and jumped to his shoulder. The goblin tried to swat me with his arm. Before, the goblin acted, I did. I pierced his shoulder with my sword and jumped down from his body. Now, as the goblin champion's hand descended on his own shoulder, he brought about the necessary amount of effort to impale himself. The sword passed deep into his flesh, and reached his lungs.

Now, just as I was breathing slowly, so was the goblin champion. I was breathing slowly to prevent feeling the pain of my broken bones, and the champion was breathing slowly, as he was about to die.

The goblin champion sat in a corner with a thud, accepting his defeat. Instead of ending the goblin champion, I let him live, and moved on to another room; the room of the goblin king.

While tirelessly walking, I murmured, "Status open."
