Jimin was nervous.

The candle-lit dinner date they were having was full of awkward silences. The man across the table had rented out the entire restaurant just for them. The space was luxuriously decorated with red and gold and the table's length was just long enough so the couple could link hands.

Jimin knew that his companion for the night was noticing how weird he was acting, but he couldn't help it. He was nervous.

Nervous, not in a silly way, or in an ordinary way. It was the desperate kind of nervous. In his mind, the question that was being repeated was "what, now? What now?"

How was Yoongi going to react?

Was Jimin even going to find the courage to tell Yoongi what was the reason behind his current nervousness, to begin with? Maybe Jimin would remain silent for the rest of their date, then go back home and stare at the walls, keeping the secret in him for another night, another day.

He had no idea how Yoongi was going to react. But it was probably going to be bad. Not that Yoongi wasn't a good guy - Jimin wouldn't even be here if he wasn't - but that information he was about to drop, it wasn't something simple. It wasn't going to be easy.

Jimin was planning on keeping it, at least of that he was sure of-

"Is there something going on?" Yoongi asked in his usual serious deep voice, - almost as if he was portraying the character of a typical rich CEO who could only function if he was in an Armani suit, - interrupting Jimin's panicked chain of thoughts.

Jimin gulped. Uh, he wasn't ready to tell Yoongi about it. Not now. Maybe never.

"It's nothing, hyung." Jimin stretched his lips into a small, awkward smile.

Yeah, maybe he could just… not tell Yoongi.

The truth was that Jimin had just found out he was pregnant - a few hours ago, to be exact - and he was still panicking. He knew he could wait a little more to tell the other, but a part of him just didn't want to panic alone.

He hadn't made that little thing by himself, so why did he have to freak out by himself, right? Right?

Jimin gulped nervously. He looked down at his almost untouched plate.

After finding out he was expecting, Jimin had freaked out on his own. He hadn't told anyone yet. The fact that he had a date with Yoongi right after he got out of his doctor's appointment seemed just like the infamous perfect timing. Yoongi had asked him out on that dinner date about a week ago and Jimin wouldn't even have the time to properly cancel those plans even if he wanted to.

"Jimin, tell me what happened. I can help." Yoongi was frowning worriedly, leaning over to him with his elbows on the table.

Jimin looked into that businessman's eyes only to find genuine concern. Even though Jimin had only met Yoongi a couple of times - mostly just for sex - he didn't feel like the older was a bad person. He seemed decent enough.

Min Yoongi was a businessman. He worked as an executive for Big Hit, an entertainment company that managed idol groups, actors and models. Jimin was one of the models managed by them, but surprisingly enough, that's not how they got to know each other - it was because of their mutual friends.

They had met at a party and things had escalated quickly to the point of casual sex. And they had only met a handful of times until now.

"...I fainted today." Jimin started, very hesitantly.

The instant his words were understood, Yoongi's eyebrows shot up. And after the surprise, came the worry mixed with disappointment. Before Yoongi could start a rant about 'impossible beauty standards' and 'unnecessary diets', Jimin hurried to continue, "B-but it wasn't because…" he paused, unsure of what words to use. Uhg, he was nervous .

"I-it was another thing. I went to the doctor today." Jimin said, his words coming out abruptly. Yoongi was giving him his full attention, looking right into Jimin's eyes worriedly, and Jimin couldn't look away. He took in a shaky breath before saying, "And I'm pregnant."

Yoongi kept staring at him, his lips parted, eyes wide. Jimin thought he probably looked the same.

"What?" Yoongi whispered. A mild frown in his eyebrows. He tilted his head to the side, clearly taken aback by Jimin's sudden words.

"I'm pregnant." Jimin repeated in a small voice.

"No. You're joking." Yoongi shook his head, a humourless smile on his lips. His expression was quickly becoming sour.

Jimin couldn't keep eye contact anymore. He was freaking out about this whole pregnant situation again. At least he wasn't freaking out alone anymore.

"Is it mine?" Yoongi dropped the question suddenly, holding the edge of the table and leaning in Jimin's direction.

Jimin couldn't even say he wasn't expecting that kind of question, because he was indeed very sexually active, but it was kind of sad that he was being questioned about that. He thought he had made it pretty obvious Yoongi was the only one he was seeing.

Whatever. Jimin took a deep breath and, without looking up, he answered, "Y-yes." in a shaky voice.

Yoongi wasn't reacting well.

"How- Why- How- How could you be to irresponsible?" Yoongi snapped. "A baby!! Do you know what that means?! Fucking hell!!!"

Yoongi got up from his seat and started pacing back on forth, hands pulling back his hair.

"A fucking baby, Jimin! You're so fucking young!" Yoongi was practically screaming by now. He was absolutely freaking out.

Jimin sniffed in his seat, looking down. Yoongi didn't notice it.

"You're!- How are you supposed to take care of another human being right now?!! And I'm-" Yoongi stopped himself, and after a second of silence, and groaned. He put a hand on the back of his chair and looked down, too, seeming extremely troubled.

"What the hell happened?!" Yoongi exclaimed after a moment, looking back at Jimin who was now silently crying. "Did you forget to take your pills?! You told me you were taking them!!" Yoongi pointed at him. "Or was it all on purpose? Was it about the money after all?!"

Jimin gasped. How dare he-

Yoongi didn't stay in the room to hear Jimin's response. He started to walk out of the restaurant's private room without another word, leaving Jimin sitting on the table by himself, crying and feeling even worse about everything.

Yoongi headed for the door and exited the dining area. He could feel the heavy gaze of the staff while he crossed the restaurant, who had obviously listened to the entire exchange and now stared at his back, fully judging him for the fucking asshole he was. Yoongi entered the elevator and when the doors fell closed, he wanted to cry, but didn't. He didn't deserve to cry.

He couldn't stare at his own reflection in the mirror of the elevator. He hated himself for what he had done.

Yoongi wanted to cry, but he held back his tears.

He didn't know how he would be able to face Jimin ever again.

Yoongi got in his car and headed to the city, looking for the quietest pub he could find, to try to drink his guilt away.

-----------

"Sir…" the employee of the pub hesitantly shook his shoulder, not sure how to address the wealthy-looking man in a wrinkled suit that had fallen asleep on the booth, arms pillowing his head in the counter, drooling and all. The man in the suit had positively passed out. "Sir."

The employee pitied the guy. He had entered the pub late at night, alone, and started downing all sorts of drinks. Soon he started talking drunkenly about his boyfriend Jimin that was supposedly pregnant and it was all Yoongi's fault? The waiter wasn't sure.

"Yes. Uh, Sir, you need to wake up, we're closing. Uh, do you want me to call in a taxi for you?" the guy was now coming to himself, and he looked miserable and wrecked.

"Closing?" Yoongi mumbled, looking around the bar with a wrinkled face.

"Yes, it's six in the morning." Yoongi felt sick with hangover, and had to concentrate hard to not throw up on the spot.

Yoongi stumbled out of the pub, and squinted at the sunlight blaring at his eyes outside. He hailed a cab in the streets and opened his mouth to tell the driver his home address, but quickly caught himself. He couldn't go back in the state he was in. There was the slight possibility of arriving at his penthouse and encountering the model, who would be probably - definitely - packing his belongings to never again return to Yoongi's home.

Yoongi chose to go to the nearest hotel instead.

---------

Jimin lazed in his apartment. Outside, as the sun went down at the end of the day, it rained.

His home consisted of a small living room, an even smaller kitchen and only one bedroom and bathroom. The place wasn't big, but Jimin found it cozy in the way he occupied it. A large white bookshelf by the door full of magazines, used notebooks and trinkets apart from books he kept from his teen years, a very soft beige sofa with many pillows and cushions, the light cream floor that was kept always sparkly clean, the soft gray rug in his living room - those were some of the things Jimin liked the most in that small rented apartment of his.

Working as a model full-time, Jimin didn't have a "normal" routine. Some days he had to wake up before the sun to go to a shooting and only come back home the next day having barely slept - and other days he had nothing to do the entire day.

Thankfully, today was one of those days.

The model stirred a mug of hot tea as he snuggled into the pillows of his sofa and watched a movie on tv. He brought his socked feet up, his bent knees in front of his chest. His red checkered pajama pants and loose white t-shirt didn't match, fashion-wise, but they were comfortable. A pair of thick-framed glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, and his orange-dyed hair wasn't styled at all, just washed and dried, so it laid flat on his head.

An entire month had passed after his last date with the businessman who got him pregnant, Min Yoongi.

Jimin's once flat stomach had now been replaced by a barely noticeable but firm small protruding belly. But still, he hadn't told any of his friends or family about the big news.

Maybe Yoongi's reaction had scared him off from telling more people about it, but the pregnancy, as it was, also made him apprehensive. It was simple - the well-known feeling of "as soon as I tell everyone, it'll be real".

Jimin didn't know how he would work his modeling career around it. He knew, realistically, that many supermodels had went through pregnancies and managed to keep working normally after having their babies, as the modeling industry was somewhat understanding towards that, but still, he had the fear that all the progress he had been making would be lost as soon as people found out.

Sometimes, Jimin felt like he was just another model in a vast sea of pretty faces. He had been working from a young age towards his dream of becoming a supermodel, but always climbing the steps with much effort and little return, yet always learning to do better, to be more talented at his job.

He knew it would have been easy to interrupt the pregnancy - the laws of his country allowed it. But he didn't want to do that. He hadn't planned on getting pregnant, but now that he was, he wanted to keep the baby. Although he had a lot to figure out, still, and although he knew raising a child wouldn't be easy, now that it was presented to him, he wanted it.

Its father, though, hadn't tried to contact Jimin ever since that disaster of a date a month ago. There was complete silence from his end of the line. And Jimin didn't try to contact the man either - he was prideful. If Yoongi was going to ignore him, he would just ignore him back. He didn't need his help with anything even though he was partly responsible for that life-changing turn in Jimin's life.

But the fact that they had the same circle of friends didn't make it easy for Jimin to ignore the Yoongi's entire existence. Kim Seokjin, one of Jimin's best friends, had been dating Kim Namjoon for a long time, and Kim Namjoon was best friends with Yoongi, having grown up together, almost as brothers.

Jimin knew he still had a lot to figure out, and the baby that was supposedly growing in his uterus didn't really feel like a reality yet, but he was trying to get used to the idea as fast as possible.

And now that a change so drastic was happening in his life, Jimin decided it would be a good time to act on another change he had been thinking about for the past months - he wanted to buy a house for himself and move out of this apartment. He had been saving money since he started working as a model when he was seventeen.

He finally had enough money, and he planned on finding the nicest home he could buy with what he had - specially now that he had a baby coming into his life, it felt like the perfect time.

A few nights ago, Jimin had commented with his friends about his plans, even, just in case they could help him find a nice place in the city.

Cuddled in on himself on the sofa, Jimin watched the movie play on his tv, although he wasn't paying a lot of attention to it as his mind was so busy with thoughts.

It was in that moment that his cellphone vibrated with a new notification. Jimin frowned, wondering what could it be, and freed one hand from where it held the tea mug to fetch the device from under the pillows around him.

When he held the screen up, he saw what the notification read and his eyes widened.

"You have a new deposit on your bank account :)"

Jimin tilted his head and frowned, unlocking the screen to access his bank app. How weird, he thought, that he would get a notification about a deposit when he wasn't expecting any payment at the moment.

When he finally saw the information on the deposit, Jimin's body froze. That was- a deposit from "Min Yoongi". Six billion won.

Jimin slowly lifted a hand to cover his wide open mouth, staring at the screen of his phone while his heart raced in his chest.

At first, Jimin just didn't know how to react. That had been so unexpected and so crazy that, for a moment, he just stared at the amount in the screen of his cellphone in shock.

Then, he called Yoongi.

There must have been some mistake.

Yoongi had been ignoring him for the past month. They weren't speaking with each other. Why would Yoongi send him money at all, let alone so much? It made no sense.

The phone rang one time, then two. It was the middle of the afternoon in a work day, so Jimin knew Yoongi would probably be at his office right now. As he waited, Jimin thought to himself that Yoongi probably wouldn't even accept his call, at least considering how cowardly the businessman had acted with him in the previous month.

But Yoongi picked up on the third ring.

"Hello." Yoongi said, and maybe Jimin knew him better than he thought, because he could immediately notice the man was trying to act like he had picked the call without seeing the caller ID.

"Yoongi." The red-haired model didn't say anything else. His heart was still beating fast from the shock, and, even though he had been the one to call, Jimin was anxiously waiting for what Yoongi had to say.

"...Jimin." Yoongi replied with a wavering sigh, just as smartly.

"Did… did you just send me money?" Jimin asked him, after having decided it would be best to go straight to the point.

"Yes." Yoongi answered simply.

Jimin breathed in deeply.

"Why? I don't need your money." Jimin said, almost whispering. He frowned as he held the cellphone close to his ear. "And it's- it's so much. I don't understand."

Yoongi didn't offer any words of explanation. He just stayed in silence, which made Jimin get even more exasperated.

"Did you hear what I just said? I don't need your money! What makes you think I would accept that much from you out of nowhere?"

"Jimin, just-" Yoongi started speaking, but interrupted himself with an exasperated sigh of his own. What an awkward conversation, Jimin thought to himself. "It's just money. I wanted to help you somehow, but I wasn't sure how to reach out to you. I thought you wouldn't want to see me, not after… The way I reacted the other day." Yoongi's voice got lower as he spoke, close to a whisper. "But I heard Namjoon saying that you were looking into buying a house for you a-and, uhm, t-the baby, and. I thought I would help." Yoongi said, and apart from how he nervously stuttered when he had to refer to their baby, he seemed very calm about his deposit into Jimin's bank account.

Jimin's frown deepend.

"What?" he hissed, his face contorting. "Are you crazy? That's way too much money. You didn't even talk to me before sending it to me!"

"It's just money, Jimin." Yoongi dismissed it like it was nothing. "Buy the house."

"I'm not gonna accept it! I don't need it." Jimin protested, but Yoongi was unphased.

"Buy the house, or whatever else you need. Let me know if you need more." he calmly said over Jimin's protests.

"But I don't want this money! I'll send it back to you!" Jimin whined, frustrated. Then he noticed how the line was silent in the other end. "Wait! ...Yoongi?!" he looked at his phone and saw that the businessman had hung up on him.

-------

It was a few days after Jimin had received the small fortune from Yoongi in the form of an unsolicited bank deposit that he decided to do something about it.

Jimin lived alone in Gangnam-gu, in a modest apartment in a three-story building. Being located in a street so narrow it barely fit two cars side-by-side, and surrounded by other short apartment buildings just like his - with average-sized windows, no balconies, just moderately stylized brick boxes in tones of gray and brown - his apartment didn't seem like the place for a celebrity, an A-list supermodel to live in.

But that wasn't a problem for him, because Park Jimin was not, currently, what one would call a celebrity. He was a model, signed with an agency, and he was well-known on the internet, but Jimin was still working towards his dream, which was to be an internationally-known supermodel.

And having been working as a model since he was a teenager, Jimin had been saving up money for the glorious moment he would be able to move in into a luxurious place. The 21-year-old had recently signed with a big agency, and, with their help, he had been getting to work for major brands. But even then, his payments weren't so huge that he could have moved from his current home yet.

After his latest contact with Min Yoongi, though, his bank account was metaphorically screaming at him with a number of zeros he'd never seen before.

Jimin still had an urge to return the money, but he had at least accepted that that would be a futile attempt. Yoongi had seemed to be unwavering in his decision of transfering that amount to Jimin in the name of their unborn baby.

With the feeling of butterflies in his stomach, Jimin was apprehensive to the idea of receiving such an extravagant gift from him - he didn't want to seem like someone who wanted to leech off Yoongi's money. Jimin had no need for that, he could work to provide for himself. He had been doing so for the past couple of years.

But Yoongi wouldn't accept the money back, and he had told Jimin to "buy a house".

Late at night, Jimin sat in his kitchen table with his laptop open. He scrolled through websites as he looked for houses, sent emails to book appointments with sellers, and, at the end, he also contacted two of his close friends, Taehyung and Seokjin, to ask them to accompany him the next day as he looked for houses.

Jimin planned to also take the opportunity to finally tell them the secret he had been keeping to himself for the past month - that we was pregnant.

--------

Jimin found online what seemed to be the perfect house for him, on sale in the neighborhood of Seongbuk-dong in Seoul. The neighborhood consisted of various mansions cramped into the slope of a hill that led to the mountains of the Bukhansan National Park.

All of those mansions had high and thick gates covering them from the eyes of the streets, which were all very narrow - only one car could pass at a time. The mansions in there had as much privacy as they could get - from outside, one could only see the walls and gates that stood tall and successfully covered them from view.

Jimin brought two of his closest friends, Seokjin and Taehyung, to visit said 'perfect house' with him, to have their opinions help him make the decision of buying the house or not. The two gladly went with him as they had no work to do that day; Kim Seokjin was the owner of the bakery he worked in, so could step away for a few hours, and Kim Taehyung was an actor with a free schedule for the day.

Jimin didn't have a driver's license, so he and his personal driver had stopped by both of his friends places to pick them up. Arriving in Seongbuk-dong, they met with the real estate agent, who opened the house on sale for them and gave them the grand tour.

The house had thick and high walls covering it from view of passersby in a cool tone of white, like a light gray. They were five meters tall and, at the top of them, along with a line of clay roof tiles, a thin bunch of climbing plants with plain green leaves went down, asymmetrically covering one third of the walls. The white gates of the garage were several meters away from the single white metal door in the wall that surrounded the property.

And going past that door, they were met with a green law that had a stone path leading to the mansion at the center of the property. In full view, it was a large construction in the same tone of white as the walls surrounding it. The real estate agent told them it had been recently built.

At the end of the visit, Jimin left with his friends, thinking he had probably found the right home to purchase.

He and his two friends would have parted ways after the visit was over, since they hadn't planned to do anything else together for that day, but Jimin asked them to hang out with him for just a little longer.

And that's how they ended up in a nearby park, the three of them on a metal bench in front of the kid's area.

Realistically, Jimin knew he had to tell his friends sooner or later, but now that I was about to happen, he was dreading that moment. Because, Jimin could already imagine it, that as soon as they knew about Jimin's baby, they would ask about its father. And when they found out it was Yoongi, one of their mutual friends, and notice that the two of them weren't speaking anymore, they would think that Yoongi had been an asshole about it.

And Jimin wouldn't be able to deny it.

But he knew that Yoongi didn't deserve everyone's hatred. He didn't think Yoongi was actually bad. Sure, his actions had been less than ideal, but Jimin could understand some of it as the shock of finding out about the pregnancy.

Jimin just didn't think that Yoongi was seriously such a horrible person for freaking out the moment he found out he would be having a child with basically a stranger. He knew Yoongi was a good person, too. He didn't want Yoongi to be left alone by his friends because of him.

Jimin knew he had to tell his friends before they found out by just having a look at him, but he couldn't imagine telling them all at a time. So he decided to tell, at first, Taehyung, who had been his best friend since they were kids, and Seokjin, who, even though was a relatively new friend, was really a kind hearted, mature yet super fun young man who was growing to matter to Jimin more and more as they months passed.

"Do you guys want some ice cream?" Seokjin asked, making to stand up from the bench, but Jimin caught his t-shirt before he did it.

"No, I mean, later, but first I wanted to tell you something and I think it would be better if you were sitting down for this." Jimin said, taking both men's hands and placing them on his lap, interlacing their fingers and staying a moment in silence, looking at how small his fingers looked in comparison to theirs.

Seokjin and Taehyung stayed oddly silent, and Jimin could see that Seokjin was holding his breath, as if he already had big suspicions on what could be the reason for their conversation. And he probably already guessed right, Jimin thought, as Seokjin was so observant and they all knew Jimin was a "carrier".

"I think I should tell you two the reason why I wanted to move to a house in a private neighborhood instead of an apartment in the city..." Jimin said, and then didn't know how to continue. He was nervous about his friends' reactions, and deep down scared that they would get mad like Yoongi did.

"So? What is it?" Taehyung's deep voice brought him back from his thoughts, and he looked at his face. Taehyung was looking right at his eyes, a worried frown in his face and a solemn look in his eyes.

Jimin took a deep breath, and stood up.

Notes:

alternative summary for this fic is:
