14 Defying the plot god

Chunhee was in a desperate position. After tasting the pain the original sixth Chunhee felt from Yujin, the conscious Chunhee became too anxious. Even his plan of secretly retrieving Yujin's schedule was prevented. It almost felt like a sign – directly from the Plot God slash Creator itself!

[Chunhee is online.]

[Chunhee: I will not die in this life. I will make sure not to fall for that scum jerk again. Let's help each other out.]

[Chunhee's mind: That's good, follow your brain, not your heart.]

[Chunhee's heart: What's your plan, master?]

[Chunhee: I will find his schedule so I can avoid him!]

[Plot God joined the conversation.]

[Plot God: Yooo~]

Fidgeting his fingers as he looked at the computer screen, Chunhee's face paled. His imaginations couldn't help but run wild the more he thought of his current situation. Both his mind and heart were aching to survive and were willing to cooperate and yet, the Plot God continuously tried to interfere with his plans. What kind of favoritism was this?

Chunhee almost choked in anger with his realization. Right, it had always been like this in his past lives too. Whether it was the past or the present, nothing truly changed. The way he felt emotional and physical pain while being scolded by Park Yujin in that room last time only showed who the Plot God favored more between them. It was clear as day Chunhee wasn't his favorite son, ah! Don't even mention being the least favored son, he was the abandoned one – the unwanted son!

What could he expect from the being who always put him to death before the age of 25 anyway?

"This sucks…" Chunhee muttered between gritted teeth.

Soon, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Chunhee said as he lazily slouched at his gaming chair. It was already past 9 o'clock and all he had done in the past hour was stare at his computer and check his – or rather, the original 6th Chunhee's – accounts. So far, what he discovered was not too bad but it wasn't too good either.

First, he learned that the original sixth Chunhee's birthday was fast approaching. Meaning, his engagement with Park Yujin would be sooner than later. This was bad but knowing no romance between him and Yujin had developed yet, Chunhee thought it might actually be advantageous. An early cancellation of the engagement would be a big possibility.

Second, he had checked his bank account and discovered a devastating fact – Chunhee only had a mere 125,000 won (~$100) balance! Then he proceeded to check his cards – all visa cards and master cards used for his shopping and other expenses. The bad part was, it had already been maxed out!… Actually, he had a savings account, though he wasn't able to check how much it contained because it was locked with a password.

Chunhee only knew it was up to no good the moment he saw the name of that savings account – "my future with Yujin". It even had a heart beside it! To his disgust, Chunhee threw the passbook right away. He'd rather become the poorest man in the city than unlock and use the money in that savings account and follow its purpose.

"Young Master, here is your warm drink," the maid entered and placed the glass of milk on Chunhee's table.

"Thank you," Chunhee absentmindedly said, his legs anxiously moving up and down as he bit his lip.

"Is the Young Master okay? Do you need me to call on the Head Maid?" The young maid asked.

Chunhee finally glanced at her. She was named Helena and was around the age of 25 to 30. Chunhee's eyes fell to the milk then towards Helena.

"Helena, do you think I'm too stupid?" Chunhee asked before he could even think thoroughly.

Helena was taken aback. "Young Master, why would you—"

"As a part of this household and an heir, I always do what I want without anyone stopping me… I'm quite dumb and shameless, aren't I?"

Did he become out of character and asked too much? No, perhaps, this was okay. He was still a teenager so it wouldn't be a big deal anyway. Also, it was very important to know. The people surrounding the original sixth Chunhee all acted as if they liked him for who he was when in truth, some of them probably thought the opposite or was uncomfortable with it. After all, Chunhee, in the original storyline, five to six years from now, he would become less sociable. He would barely come home, never mind see anyone other than Yujin.

Years from now, he would put Yujin at the center of his world, making himself less and less available for others to communicate properly. Whether it was a friend, a family member, or even people like Helena whom Chunhee treated more than as servants in this house before – everyone would become too far and difficult to reach.

"Young Master, how can you speak that way about yourself?" Helena's voice couldn't help but rise. Genuine concern filled her voice as she looked at Chunhee who seemed surprised by her reaction. "Young Master is not stupid, he's just… still young to understand some things. But this doesn't mean you're shameless. Wanting something – or even someone, doesn't make you stupid. In the contrary, it only shows how big your heart is. Whether you want something or not, naturally, we will support you for it. I and the rest of the servants in this household believe that Young Master has a good heart and a healthy mind. We will always be here and support you, Young Master."

Wanting something or someone doesn't make one stupid. How Chunhee wished the sixth Chunhee knew this before he jumped from that building. His love wasn't evil nor wrong after all. It was just the receiver of that emotion that was wrong.

Truly, he was surrounded by warm people like Helena. It was only because of his decision of living with Yujin that soiled his relationships with other people and prevented him from thinking there was still hope after that betrayal.

With a sigh and a lighter heart, Chunhee smiled and thanked Helena before she left.

Then he quickly opened his computer once more and began to type on the search bar: job vacancies in S City.

Who cares about the past and the savings of the past Chunhee anyway? He had decided now. He might as well get prepared for all his plans. But first things first, he would need money – his own money to escape from the clutches of Yujin and the villainous and heartless Plot God.

In another room where only a small light was able to penetrate through the tiny crack in the window, a man sat behind a computer. Unmoving as his face hid in the shadows, he watched as the screen's white luminous color changed to a blinking red light from a pop-up notification. Seconds passed and more and more boxes appeared as the red lights began to dominate the screen showing the same words in each box.

[WARNING! CONSCIOUS CHARACTER!]

[WARNING! CONSCIOUS CHARACTER!]

Squinting at the words, the man's eyes glinted and glowed a deep shade of gold. Soon, his tensed fingers began to tap on the table and with eyes not leaving the screen, his lips turned to a thin line as a cold, mysterious smile appeared on his face.
