Chapter One: The Beginning Of A New Life And Adventure

On a ship in the middle of the ocean, a young, muscular man, with short brown hair, and silver eyes, sat on a chair below deck lost in thought. So much has happened to him in the past few days. His whole life has changed. For the better? He's not sure.

"Jethro!", a voice said. He looked around and spotted an old, bald, bearded man peering out at him from around the corner. "We're almost a few miles from land so we'll need your help up here soon." the man said. "Thanks Owen, I'll be up there in a moment," Jethro responded. Owen disappeared from around the corner and Jethro went back to being lost in thought for a few more minutes. He then stood up from his chair and stretched. He then made his way up to the deck, and helped the crew onboard the ship prepare to dock at land.

When they finally arrived at port he saw a large wooden sign that read "Welcome to the town of Kasfaville". After he assisted in unloading all of the ships cargo, he took the few crates containing his belongings and stacked them on a wooden wheelbarrow. He started to walk off with the wheelbarrow when he felt a hand grab his left shoulder. He turned and saw Owen standing there. "Hey Jethro," said the Owen, "Me, Captain Harkin, and the rest of the crew are going to be spending the night over at the local inn down the road," he continued, "Care to join us for a pint?" Jethro thought for a moment. He then shrugged his shoulders. "Sure why not," Jethro replied, "I could use a drink, and also it would be nice to have a comfortable place to rest my head." Jethro and Owen turned around and walked towards the local inn.

When they got there the sign on the building read "The Filthy Maiden". "Interesting name for a inn don't you think?" asked Jethro. The Owen chuckled. "Yeah, but I heard it's ale can drown all of your sorrows away!" They headed inside where they saw Captain Harkin and the rest of the crew sitting at a couple of tables. They took seats on each side of the captain. After downing a few pints of ale Captain Harkin turned to Jethro. "So what's your plan for tomorrow?" Captain Harkin asked. He looked like any other captain Jethro had seen. With the same outfit that every sailor wears. Sported with a captain's hat to signify authority. "I'm planning on heading out as soon as the sun rises," Jethro said, "Why do you ask?" "Well it's just that I've appreciated having you aboard the ship," replied Captain Harkin, "and also the crew have taken a liking to you, so I want to offer you a permanent spot on my crew." Owen looked over at Jethro and gave him a slight nod. Jethro smiled, the first time he's smiled in a long time. "Thanks for the offer I'll definitely take you up on that someday," said Jethro, "But not right now," Captain Harkin smiled and nodded. After the group downed a few more pints of ale. Jethro stood up and shook the captain's hand, and then Owen's. He then paid for a room for the night, grabbed his belongings and went to his room and closed the door. The second his body hit the bed he was asleep.

The next morning he got up and strode to the main hall of the inn for some breakfast. He then went back to his room and opened up the crates containing his belongings. He pulled out a full set of heavy steel armor with a red cape and a pouch attached to it containing food, water, and a few gold coins . He then pulled out a sword and a shield, putting one in each hand. He left his room and walked out of the inn. On his way out he said goodbye to everyone, and then left for the road.
