A Friend?

[Double shot]

Requires a bow equipped. Attacks your target twice. Each arrow deals 80% damage. Consumes 2 arrows.

Class: Archer

Minimum Level: 1

After learning the skill, he kept talking to Grind:

"Grind, I want to practice my basic skills as an Archer. Is there anyone in the village who could teach me?"

"The only good Archer we have is an eccentric man. You can try asking him directly, if you can reach him. He lives inside the Moon Forest."

After thanking Grind, Samuel headed to the shop district. Killing so many wolves, he discovered something important. Monsters don't drop equips! At least, animal types don't. He saw other players complaining so it should be right.

He bought 10 potions and a few breads, leaving him with 1 silver and 30 coppers. Each potion is 10 copper.

"If I can't drop equips, I'll need to first get a skill for tanning and someone to make things. I should have asked about that to Grind too."

At the leather armor shop, there was a young girl at the counter. She immediately smiled when a customer got in.

"Welcome, adventurer. How may I help you?"

"Hi, I'm looking for leather boots and chest armor. The cheapest ones please."

"The boots are 1 silver, the armor is 4 silver and 20 copper."

"Do you accept orders if I bring the materials myself?"

"Yes, though price will depend on the materials you bring."

"Alright. So could you please teach me how to get leather from monsters?"

"I can tan a monster skin, but I can't do the skinning. You'll have to talk to one of the guards for that."

"Thank you."

The small village had their strongest serve as guardsmen. Their equipment was just leather armor, bronze sword and wooden shield. They would stay inside the village or go out a little to protect the fields from monsters.

After some asking around, he finally found a guard willing to teach him.

[Patroling the fields]

Fill's going out to patrol the village surroundings. Accompany him and learn Skinning from him.

Rank: F-

Time Limit: Until Fill's round ends.

"Alright, let's go newbie. I'm a little late for my round already."

Fill's round consisted in protecting the farmers fields and then looking for any suspicious signs. They killed all rabbits eyeing the plantations and all foxes and wolves who got close to the cattle. Samuel experience didn't increase much since Fill did most of the damage, but he got increasingly used to the bow and the system help.

"Why I had to choose a bow class? Daggers are so much easier! Even images should have it easier with a staff!"

Fill skinned every monster they killed and let Samuel watch. He would only explain the hardest parts where you had to know the trick or risk ruining the whole thing.

"Alright that's it. I'm just a small village man so my technique is not good but you should be able to skin anything close to us now. Take care, kid."

[You have completed Patrolling the Fields with Fill (F-).]

"LEO really is revolutionary. Although AIs have great capabilities, Even the NPCs are good."

Samuel contemplated a little over the topic while heading for the Moon Forest again. When he got at the fox area he saw a little commotion.

In LEO, players look the same as they do in real life. Only some special items let you change appearance. For cosmetics purposes.

That's how Samuel noticed that most people in the commotion were Asian, probably Chinese even.

"Sorry, but the Heaven's Might Guild is farming here. We ask you to go somewhere else."

He was suddenly approached by someone. He didn't look angry, but his tone was a little forceful, as if trying to say there's no room for discussion here.

"Don't mind me. I'm just passing through."

The man was a little doubtful, but seeing as Samuel really just passed through, he let him go. He couldn't help wondering where he headed to. Only the Moon Forest is there and that place is a dead end for players lower than level 5. Most players are farming rabbits and boars. Guild from another games formed groups and are farming foxes. A normal player would be level 2 after farming rabbits for close to 4 hours, but the number of players is so overwhelming that most players still haven't reached level 2 after 8 hours! Wolves are level 5 at minimum, but they are much harder than level 4 foxes.

The monster up to level 4 were planned to teach players how to hunt. They are passive and have low stats. At level 5, monsters receive an upgrade to compete with equipped players with good game sense. Not only are the attack patterns harder to predict, but their stats are double the level 4 foxes! From a player perspective, they're almost 5 times harder to kill than foxes.

Samuel walked for some time until he found his prized stone platform. This time, after every kill he would go down and skin it. His exp and proficiency were rising quickly. After 2 hours of farming wolves, he received his level up message.

"I guess this is enough for now. Let's get something ordered now that I've got 40 bad quality and 4 normal quality leathers. I've also got almost 1 silver from killing wolves bringing me to 2 silver and 28 copper in total. should be enough for better chest armor."

On his return trip, there was still a commotion. This time, there were all kind of people involved. He guessed the guild probably offended too many new players and there were 2 camps leveling there now.

In the center of the Chinese camp, there was a beautiful woman looking at him. Her eyes were very deep, as if you could get lost looking at them. And her skin was white like snow.

Although different cultures have different beauty concepts, beautiful women are beautiful no matter where. After having barely no contact with those outside his family for so many years, his face blushed a little being stared by such a beautiful woman. Luckily, his tanned skin made it harder to see it.

When he got closer she actually came with an entourage of followers behind her. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down. He could see in her eyes that she wanted something from him.

"You, what's your name?"

In LEO, you couldn't see any information without a skill like Observation. Samuel frowned at the tone used to talk. Is she some kind of princess or queen?

"Shouldn't you tell your name first when asking people their name?"

Although Samuel is an introvert, he's somewhat sensitive to people feelings. He could see feel her arrogance, but not pettiness. She is probably a proud woman, but not an unreasonable one. He never cared about face or reputation, but he wouldn't let her roll over his dignity like that. At least he's a man!

"She's Moon Reflection, Vice Leader of Heaven's Might. The likes of you don't have the right to question our miss. Just answer the question."

One of her lackeys answered for her. Samuel saw a little irritation in her eyes. She really is a proud woman.

"Windbow. Anything else?"

Seeing so many lackeys behind her, Samuel felt it would be a headache to stay so he just wanted to end this quickly. He just answered whatever they wanted to know short and curtly.

"You're an Archer so you should have barely hit anything. How are you coming from the Forest' direction?"

"Practice makes perfect. Also what make you so sure I can't hit anything?"

"It's been 10 hours since the game started, but 70% of all archers have restarted their account to other classes already. The difficulty of fighting with a bow is really high compared to other classes. The other 30% are all supported by guilds like mine or oddities like you."

"10 hours!?"

He called the system and confirmed. 10:12. It's already morning.

"Oh lord. Mom's going to be mad. Hey I got to go. Add me as your friend if you have any more questions. See you later."

He started running to the village as fast as he could. He didn't even enjoy the feeling now. He immediately got inside the inn and logged off.

=============================

"Miss, don't worry. We'll hunt that disrespectful foreigner. Although PK is impossible here, we could hinder his leveling so much that he would quit the game himself."

"Don't. He's not worthy our effort so just let him be. Also, if I wanted something done, I'd say it myself."

When she said the last phrase, her tone was really cold. The man bowed his head and stepped back a little. His attempts to get on her good side have backfired.

Moon Reflection turned to the screen in front of her again.

[Friend Request]

Do you wish to accept "Windbow" as your friend?

[Yes] [No]

Usually she would just ignore it. There are too many men trying to get close to her. Be it for her beauty or her status or wealth, all of them wish to use her to elevate themselves.

Windbow gave her a different feeling. He was shy, but got serious and even dealt with the situation with a calm mind when there were a crowd right in front of him. He could appreciate her beauty without being mesmerized.

What a strange man. At least he's not annoying like those around me.
