Chapter 6: S-Rank Mission

Kakashi POV:

Six months had passed since we started attending the Academy and currently, me, Obito, Rin, Gai, Dai and my father are all training at the training grounds. During these past six months of training, we have learned a lot and had grown stronger. Me and Gai can now be considered a low level Jonin based on our strength. Obito and Rin on the other hand can now be considered as a normal genin possibly a high level one but they lack the experience of battle. We all also learned how to walk on water but I can do it after a month of training just days after we had done the jutsu competition. Also, my father joined us more frequently as he has a much less missions to do.

But the most surprising is that Dai became a high level jonin in terms of overall strength and just needs experience. He also needs to stop relying on his instincts and physical strength to overcome everything.

Sakumo POV:

I am currently with my son Kakashi, his friends, and Maito Dai, training. I also began to take my training seriously. Based on the growth Kakashi has showed, it will only take him a little over ten years to catch up to me and I want to be his goal for a longer time.

I also has less missions to do during these past months because the war seems to be settling down as the scale of war is slowly tilting at Konoha's favor.

During our training, I felt a presence approaching at us at a fast pace. I saw Kakashi being a little startled as he also felt the same. I guess he will have a good sensory skills when he grew-up.

As I am complementing him in my mind. A man who wears a boar like mask suddenly appeared while giving me a bow. He is part of the ANBU and is an Akimichi based on his physique and red hair.

"Boar. What are you doing here? Does the Hokage has any mission for me?"

As I asked that, the ANBU passed me a scroll. I then opened it and my face became serious at how dangerous this mission was.

"I will be at the Hokage's Office. You may now leave."

I then turned around and saw Kakashi looking at me with a worry in his eyes. This is my first time seeing him worry at me. This makes me feel good as he always seems to be calm and seeing my son worry at me made me felt warm.

"Kakashi, tell your mom that I will be away from the village for a few days. Also, don't worry about me. I am the one of the strongest ninja in Konoha you know."

As I said that, I went straight to the Hokage's Office. As I arrived, I saw Sandaime Hokage taking a smoke and a feeling of tiredness shown in his eyes.

"Sakumo, you're here. I have a mission for you. I believe you now have the idea of what will it be."

I nod my head indicating that I know. The mission states that at near the border of Konoha and Suna, there is a report that the patrols spotted a camp being built with a dozen of Suna ninjas in it, maybe a bit more. But the most alerting thing is that Chiyo's son, Kazetsu is with them along with his wife Akugu. Kazetsu is a master of puppetry like his mother and is the best in wind jutsus in Suna. His wife on the other hand, Akugu, is a master of poison who can rival Chiyo in that field and also is proficient in using puppets.

With both of them being a Kage-level ninjas near the border, we can safely assume that Suna is planning a big attack on Konoha.

"Your mission Sakumo is to lead a team to intercept them before they can gather more power and destroy them. This will be a top secret S-rank mission and will start as soon as possible. I wish for your success, Sakumo."

As the Hokage wished me luck, I went at the gates and saw a dozen of Konoha ninjas waiting for me. Some seem to be nervous but one thing is for sure, they are all elite jonin rank except for the Hyuga which is only a jonin level. I think he is just in this mission for his sensory abilities as a Hyuga.

As we introduced ourselves and are about to leave, a man wearing a green clothes and a yellow scarf around his neck came running at us.

"Sakumo-san, please take me with you in your mission. I want to be stronger and have more battle experience. Please."

As he said that, my team went laughing and ridiculed him endlessly. He is Maito Dai, the famous Eternal Genin and Master in Finding Cats of Konoha

"What are you talking about? You have no idea what we are about to do and you think you can just-"

"I accept. Ready your things in five minutes. If you are late, then I will not take you with us."

"But Sakumo-san, he is just a Genin and will only be a hindrance to our mission."

The Hyuga said in doubt and disdain showed into his face. All the members also doubted my decision but they said nothing. I also just ignored them.

"Thank you very much, Sakumo-san."

Dai then rushed to his home immediately. I look forward to seeing the face of my members if they saw Dai's strength. For your information, his power is that of a high level Jonin and just needed experience to hone his skill. One of his flaw, except not having any ninjutsu or genjutsu, is that he is a muscle head.

During these past month training with Kakashi and his friends, I also encounter him everyday without a missing a day. He just can't formulate a plan and always moved through his instinct which we did develop overtime as I also helped him in training.

He also can't control chakra that good and struggled to walk on trees. I also helped him training that and now he has no problem walking on water. Also, during our spars, especially the most recent, he is actually stronger than me in taijutsu. But like I said, he still sometimes rush at me mindlessly and move by instinct but its still way better compared to when we started.

After a few minutes, Dai arrived a we all went towards the Konoha-Suna border.

Dai POV:

We are currently rushing to the border to attack the Suna ninja camps. As we are jumping off tree branches, Sakumo suddenly got near me.

"Dai, you must remember, this is war and you must kill anyone who tries to threaten you. At first, you will be haunted by your first kill and may not be able to sleep due to having nightmares. You must endure all this to be strong. Do you understand?"

As I saw how serious Sakumo was, I tensed up a bit and nodded at him. Seriously, I don't think that I can't kill a person without hesitation, but if it's for the sake of the village and to become stronger, I will do my best to deliver.

Sakumo also told me the content of our mission and felt a bit scared hearing that we will fight two Kage level ninjas. If the worst thing happened, I will not hesitate to pay a price so we can survive and complete the mission.

With this, we continued to go to the border to fight and protect the village and become stronger.
