Chapter 43: The Lobster Woman!

Azrael Herrington and Alex Bayly entered an eatery shortly after they were transported into this new environment.

Alex noticed that the people had very strange behaviors compared to the ones she was used to.  For instance, in an attempt to greet, instead of them to raise a hand and simply wave or just saying hi casually, over here, they tend to bow their head and place both arms together as if they want to pray, just to greet.

Some would even kneel or prostrate just to greet. It was weird to her. Their mannerisms and behavior here were odd. They were overly respectful or just very fearful.

Azrael went to choose a spot close to the window in the diner and pulled Alex along.

Alex followed without protest, in fact, she has started to adjust to this wonderful relationship between herself and Azrael.

She didn't mind that she was older than him or that she was his teacher, in fact, the love was so deep that she felt like she might be growing a part of him inside of her, a very weird feeling, not that she would admit that openly.

After they had gotten a seat, Azrael wanted to place a food order,  but in order to do that, he had to be sure that the custom here would also be the same as where he was coming from, because he has found this strange new place to be outlandish in every aspect of the word, compared to what he was used to.

He looked around the diner, taking in the strange behaviors of everyone around, he noticed that ordering food was the same anywhere, the only difference is the copious amount of times they had to bow just to show their respect or give their greetings.

Azrael's eyes then fell on a woman sitting close to the table where he and Alex sat. This woman looked to be a bit different than the rest. She didn't greet as often as the others did and she acted more freely.

Azrael thought she might be just as different as he and Alex were. There was a huge plate of lobster in front of her and she was licking her lips as she took in the aroma of the lobster.

As she dripped her head to take a bite, Azrael made an 'ssssss' sound to get her attention.

The woman stopped attempting to eat the lobster and looked at Azrael. She didn't say anything and just watched him.

"Are you from a faraway place too like us?" Azrael asked the woman as curiosity got the better of him.

He expected that the woman would just give a smile and start to respond heartily, but on the contrary, the woman got up as if she had just been stung and charged out of the diner like a lunatic.

Alex noticed this and turned to Azrael with a questioning gaze. Azrael shrugged his shoulders, indicating that he was also as confused as her as to what was going on.

As they were exchanging glances, the waiter passed by, "Good afternoon, What would you like to have..." The waiter asked politely and started a series of bowing and cupping of hands.

Azrael felt puzzled as he watched her show so much etiquette that he tagged it as exaggerated.

Just before he could respond to the waitress who was still in a bowing position, the woman who walked out earlier and abandoned her lobster, returned in a like manner, and this time she was followed by a huge crowd of uniformed policemen.

They all had batons in their hands and guns in the holster around their right waist. The woman pointed towards Azrael and whispered something into the ears of the policeman leading the charge of the other policemen.

The policeman turned towards Azrael and marched closer, "Are you an illegal immigrant? Under section 29, subsection 5b, all illegal immigrants are to be quarantined and subjected to labor for the community for a year, before being released into the public as a token of your contribution to the economy..."

The Policeman held his baton tightly as he spoke, ready to pounce once he observed any form of violence or resistance.

Azrael was able to read the situation perfectly. The woman sold him out without any care, either because she was brainwashed or because there was something messed up going on here.

Azrael saw that he needed to figure something out and fast or else, things might get ugly.

As he was pondering, a crazy idea suddenly popped up in his mind.

Azrael walked up to the 'lobster'- woman who sold him out and knelt in front of her. "Cousin, do you hate me so much that you went to report to these busy police officers and disturb their daily schedule?"

"I told you I was sorry, why do you have to hold a grudge and report me to the officers..." Azrael had a serious facial expression as he coined the lie.

The 'lobster' woman had her mouth wide open in shock. She didn't foresee the lying and manipulative ability of those she was exposing.

She looked at Azrael who was kneeling in front of her and the policemen who had started to see her as a prankster and she became immediately tongue-tied.

"I swear, I don't know this guy, I've never met him before..." The woman tried to reveal her innocence, but the seed of doubt had already been sown.

"Come on cousin... Do you hate me that much...?" Azrael added.

The policemen saw his 'sincerity' and they couldn't help but buy his 'bold-faced lie',

"Okay, you can stop the prank now...," The policeman chided the lobster woman before turning to the Azrael

"We apologize for our accusation, we clearly were acting on wrong information..." The policeman said to Azrael and then turned to the lobster woman,

"We will let it go this time, but next time, don't prank the police officers, you might not be so lucky..." The Leading police officer said with a grimace as if trying to swallow something with discomfort.

He turned and marched off in shame while his people followed in tow. The Lobster woman couldn't believe how everything played out. She was played and taken for a prankster and those she reported were even apologized to.

She looked at Azrael with unhidden hatred. "Bloody lair... Cousin??? Cousin??? As if I've met your illegal immigrant ass before..." The woman screamed as she wanted to slap Azrael as the latter was getting up from his kneeling position.

Azrael caught the slap and pushed her hand away. He didn't even reply the woman, he just walked to the table where Alex was and sat beside her.

The woman felt humiliated and followed Azrael angrily. "You bloody lair, you want to infiltrate our city... Is that it...?"

The people around were also drawn in on the lie, they also thought the woman was the cousin of Azrael and Alex.

"Would you shut it already, we know he is your cousin, you don't have to disturb the entire diner because of that..." A man who was fed up with the lobster woman shouted.

"Seriously, do you have to disturb our quiet meal with the police drama..." Alex added with a serious expression.

The Lobster woman suddenly discovered that everyone was either looking at her, mocking her, or yelling at her, she couldn't believe the way the tide turned.

She got up and dashed away, leaving her lobster untouched while crying on her way out.

Azrael and Alex on the other hand had ordered food and they started digging in while they secretly shared jokes about the lobster woman.
